As a Senior Project Engineer, you'll play a key role within the Process Automation sector of the Process Industries in Johannesburg, South Africa. Reporting to the Team Lead – HPR, you'll wield design authority over an engineering discipline of medium complexity. Your focus will involve efficiently completing assignments across multiple moderate-sized projects or segments of major projects, aligning with contract specifications, quality benchmarks, and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

• Lead engineering disciplines across diverse projects, offering technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning. Conduct experiments, analyze data, and prepare comprehensive project documentation within your domain.
• Specialize in advanced concepts and methods, contributing to engineering project proposals and presentations by providing crucial details like bills of materials and estimated engineering hours.
• Collaborate with contract managers, issuing claims and delivering cost-effective, quality solutions aligned with customer requirements while ensuring safety standards and mitigating risks.
• Develop work plans and cost estimates within your responsibility, ensuring timely, quality deliverables within specified costs. Enhance work plan effectiveness through cross-functional collaboration.
• Conduct risk and opportunity assessments, implementing resultant actions and reporting issues to management along with proposed resolutions.
• Engage with stakeholders, attend project meetings, and collaborate with the Supply Chain function to communicate technical requirements and evaluate supplier proposals.
• Maintain a network of engineering professionals, sharing best practices across diverse projects and disciplines.
• Identify and propose improvements in standard techniques, procedures, and tools, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and contractual requirements.

Background Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in HPR Applications.
• Knowledge of electrical theory and systems in HPR; familiarity with aluminum potline rectifiers, DC drives, DC Arc furnaces, and transformers advantageous.
• Strong design skills, problem-solving abilities, commitment to excellence, and a professional attitude.
• Preference is given to candidates with an Electrical Engineering background.
