    Senior Sous Chef - Southern Suburbs

    Faircape Restaurant and Catering, part of Faircape Life retirement villages, is located in 6 prime locations across the Western Cape, providing meals to village residents and patients in the onsite healthcare centres. 

    We are seeking a Senior Sous Chef within the Southern Suburbs, to lead the service within the kitchen. 

    We celebrate food for all its flavour, and nourishment.  Developed in collaboration with our staff dietitian, our chef’s prepare wholesome meals 3 times a day using only the finest seasonal and local ingredients.  Each meal is plated to perfection and served with care.

    Requirements: 

    Meal Preparation and Presentation

    • Control cooking of all food from preparation to presentation
    • Following meal specifications
    • Assist with menu and recipe development
    • Ensure the production of excellent food that is of the highest standard
    • Relieve Sous Chefs and Senior Sous Chefs at own facility or other facilities

     Staff management and training 

    • Management of all subordinate staff
    • Ensure staff follows procedures correctly
    • Ensure that all staff are trained on the required policies and procedures
    • Assist with staff training in other facilities when needed

     Health and safety

    • High standards of food hygiene

      Coffee Shop

    • Produce quality café meals
    • Baking of café goods

    Qualifications:

    • Chef's diploma/qualification from a registered tertiary education provider

    Requirements and Experience: 

    • Previous experience preparing Halaal food 
    • Experience in food quality management and standardization
    • Quality orientated
    • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
    • Excellent physical condition and stamina
    • Ability to travel and relieve when needed

    Skills and Knowledge:

    • Ability to follow sanitization procedures
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Focus on excellence and high-quality standards
    • Excellent food quality 
    • Strong knowledge of food handling procedures
    • Knowledge of various cooking and baking techniques and methods
    • Knowledge of excellent customer service principles
    • Knowledge of health and safety requirements in a kitchen
