    Senior Specialist Employee Relations

    Purpose of the Position

    • To provide high-level specialist Employee Relations (ER) services and products to RSA and MultiChoice Africa Holdings (MAH) through management of processes and the production of service flows to achieve efficiency, quality goals, a sound working environment and compliance with labour legislation.

    Tasks
    Stakeholder Management

    • Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships with Business leadership, HR Leadership, the wider HR community and Employees
    • Provide expert and professional advice to management
    • Implement the Labour Relations Management development strategy and provide coaching and training to relevant stakeholders on this strategy
    • Negotiate and liaise with management at all levels to ensure that the right relationships are built across the business
    • Manage stakeholder relations with Workplace forums and trade unions
    • Champion and enable effective cross-functional working relationships to create and drive an integrated HR employee experience
    • Drive a participative management culture

    Governance & Compliance

    • Enable a stable employee relations environment in the business through the application of ER principles and practices
    • Implement policies and processes aligned to the LRA, BCEA, EEA, and all other relevant labour legislations
    • Ensure that policies and practices enable the business to be a good corporate citizen and still achieve its overall strategy

    Employee Relations

    • Provide expertise and advice on ER issues experienced within LOB[DEL: [DEL: ’ :DEL] :DEL] s
    • Manage all disciplinary, incapacity, poor work performance, and grievance cases
    • Lead the internal ER investigations relating to grievances or disciplinary processes
    • Identify prevalent misdemeanours and deviations and implement reduction strategies for Business
    • Identify coaching and training opportunities (Jurisprudence and relevant updates, impact on business)  
    • Provide leadership advice to management on ER strategy per business unit, impact of political landscape in Employment Law and potential impact on business
    • Provide ongoing updates on best practice and incident management learnings
    • Attend to Employer CCMA representation cases
    • Assist in managing the Legal Fee budget (Initiatives)
    • Develop ER and maintain resource centre for business support
    • Ensure compliance with disciplinary, poor work performance, incapacity and grievances initiation and research
    • Proactive advice and support to managers undergoing disciplinary, poor work performance, incapacity and grievances processes
    • Prepare documentation, witnesses and liaise with relevant parties for CCMA cases (Conciliation and Arbitration)
    • Monitor and track ER statistics
    • Review and update all relevant and quality reports
    • Build internal ER capability through the implementation of development interventions
    • Mediate, conciliate and arbitrate resolution of disputes
    • Prepare instructions to external legal representatives on Litigation and Arbitration Matters
    • Effectively manage Employee Relations administration in line with strategy objectives
    • Facilitate Labour Relations Engagement (unions & workplace forums)
    • Represent the organisation at the CCMA

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources/Industrial Psychology/Industrial Relations/Law (LLB)/Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Law or equivalent

    Experience

    • A minimum of 5-8 years ER experience in Specialist ER Role or Related Function
    • LRA, BCEA, EEA, SDA and NQF
    • Industry and sector understanding
    • Group dynamics and diversity understanding
    • Project Management
    • CCMA processes exposure - Minimum of 3 years
    • HR Policies and Procedures
