Senior Superintendent: Fleet Maintenance at Nelson Mandela Bay Metro

Qualifications and experience required:

• Relevant mechanical trade test certification.
• Three to five years’ relevant experience.
• A valid Code EC driver’s licence with Professional Drivers’ Permit (PDP).
• Required to be on standby and work overtime during peak periods.

Key attributes and competencies:

• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications.
• Oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
• Supervisory skills.
• Report-writing skills.
• Mechanical duties require the incumbent to stand, lift and bend for sustained periods.
• Hot, smoky conditions are experienced when working in proximity to fires.
• The physical attributes associated with this post necessitate that the incumbent is physically fit and able-bodied to perform the relevant functions, and as such, shortlisted candidates will be required to submit themselves to the Municipal Medical Doctor to be medically examined as part of the selection process.

Job purpose:

• Responsible for the efficient running of the mechanical workshop and the supervision of technical staff.
• As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
