    Senior Welding Inspector

    Introduction

    Welding inspector provides metallurgical support to the project teams by applying knowledge in the various types of materials used in the oil and gas and chemicals sectors, including an understanding of their applications and limitations.

    Senior welding inspectors are responsible for inspecting and assessing the quality and strength of welding work and verify the welding procedures and relevant welding project documents are correctly implemented. Welding inspectors also inspect the welding equipment used and ensure welders adhere to company HSE rules and state safety regulations. The position performs in line with the Bureau Veritas Quality Assurance System, including the  BV Code of Ethics and the BV Group policy.

    Minimum Requirements and Skills

    • Holds a Senior Welding Inspection Certificate / Diploma (CSWIP3.2, SAIW L2 or IWI-S, or equivalent).
    • Minimum 5 to 8 years’ experience in welding, Inspection, QC group in manufacture workshop, project site and operating plants
    • Work well in a team and with a wide range of people on various organisational levels (customers and suppliers).
    • Organised and methodical, proactive, able to take initiative and Self-motivated.
    • Safety driven (Bureau Veritas Cardinal Safety Rules) ; completion of the QHSE induction is a pre requisite.
    • Always comply to all BV HSE Policies and procedures, client’s HSE procedures and code of practices.
    • Report immediately any HSE incident and cooperate in investigation.
    • Comply to Codes of Ethics and values: integrity, Impartiality, independence & acting free of any conflict of interest.
    • Fluent in English with good communication and writing skills.
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Bureau Veritas software packages
    • Able to work at flexible schedules to meet client’s & project’s needs
    • Comply with applicable customer legal requirements and meet project development objectives.
    • Maintain personal work areas tidy and hazard free, and report any deviation/fault/hazard immediately to the location manager/line manager/supervisor.
    • Take care of your own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do (or do not do). ·
    • Co-operate with others on health and safety, and not interfere with, or misuse, anything provided for your health, safety or welfare..

    Job Specification

    • To carry out technical welding inspection and evaluation against Code, Client Specification and contractual requirement, including to review Quality Plans and relevant procedures.
    • Review and validation of inspection assignment documentation in relation to welding activities (technical aspects, reference documentation, schedule, milestones, reporting, etc.)
    • Ensure proper fit-up by checking edge preparation (bevel angles, root gap, etc.) in accordance with WPS/WPQR,
    • Ensure welding works are performed as per approved procedures (WPS) and appropriate welders’ qualifications,
    • Interpretation of results of inspections and ensure a Quality report is timely prepared.
    • Treatment of Non-conformities / corrective actions shall be completed in accordance with project’s requirements.
    • To attend inspection request as duly authorised by line manager,
    • To submit a report or necessary certificates, timesheet and other applicable documents to an agreed format within 24 hours after the inspection is performed to BV office.
    • To provide always and excellent services to client in order to ensure business sustainability.
    • To adhere to Bureau Veritas’ Code of Ethics, have an exemplary attitude and behaviour at all time.
    • Review or surveillance of NDT activities is not in the scope of the present Job description.
    • To carry out inspection under the requirements of applicable standards, and the design or manufacturing code (ASME VIII div 1 or ASME IX, or ASME B31.3 for examples),
    • Work closely with Operation Manager to ensure business targets are met,
    • Provide team spirit to other inspectors with contracts to ensure continuity and consistency of the inspection.
    • Form good working relationships with clients,
    • Attend client meetings to deliver services according to client requirement and specification,
    • Able to resolve problems within own work activities, and to always refer to the Bureau Veritas Technical Manager or Operation Manager.
    • Proactively manages own work and resolves conflicting issue to meet deadlines without compromising work quality,
    • Able to identify routine problem and provide professional advice to management or client,
    • Demonstrate a willingness to adapt and respond new process or system,
