    Service Engineer - (Modderfontein)

    You will be working as Service Engineer and will be the part of Motion business area for Service division based in Longmeadow, South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to Service Manager and will be responsible for participating in and supporting the implementation of the service leading practices, executing technical support and solving problems in your area of expertise, managing, coordinating and performing Motion service execution and projects internally and externally, proactively identifying potential equipment failures and requesting proactive corrective actions. Regularly communicating with the customer and ABB Service Sales teams to ensure we understand customer needs. Executing on time service support and resolution, as well as influencing business opportunities for Motion Service growth.

    Your responsibilities

    • Adhering to and applying safety rules and safe practices as well as environmental responsibilities, reporting unsafe practices and incidents, providing technical support and solving problems in your area of expertise
    • Managing, coordinating and performing service projects internally and externally, creating milestones, project plan, cost supervision, action steps, project reviews, project supervision, including all commercials
    • Securing delivery and execution according to customer orders and expectations, ensuring tidy and safe work
    • Troubleshooting equipment failure and making recommendations to avoid repeating problems in the future
    • Communicating with customers and informing them when the work is completed. Reporting (actual problems, causes, remedial actions, hours)
    • Investigating customer requirements via professional consulting, e.g., for complex requirements and managing customer relationships
    • Maintaining regular contact with customers, cooperating actively with other ABB units to achieve common goals
    • Working closely with Sales Teams and providing information on service-related opportunities. Participating in improvement activities (e.g., Root cause analysis (RCA)

    Your background

    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
    • Minimum experience of 2-5 years
    • Knowledge of ABB products/systems, knowledge of Service offerings, knowledge of ABB health and safety operating procedures
    • Customer focused attitude. Able to communicate effectively, able to be flexible and work in a team environment, thinking and acting systemically
    • Fluency in the English language is mandatory
