    Stores & Logistics Controller


    The Big Picture: 

    • Howden Africa Compressors & Turbines Division is looking for a Stores & Logistics Controller responsible for planning, resource scheduling of personnel in the workshop and on various customer sites. To make sure that orders placed with suppliers are delivered on time by tracking them against negotiated delivery dates. Manage logistics activities for the workshop, which include managing the stores, receiving and dispatching. The position will be based in Sasolburg.

    What needs to be done?

    • Resource schedule to be drawn up and updated daily and forward to Workshop manager and Project managers.
    • Tracking of progress: Conduct visual progress inspections to verify progress as reported by site staff and escalate issues where applicable.
    • Analyses Progress: Analyse progress, obstacles, changes, risks, trends etc.  to the effect that corrective action can be made pro-actively (where applicable) and provide feedback to management
    • Resource scheduling of workshop personnel
    • Follow up on incoming projects with Project Managers to get Job numbers and Project files
    • Update production schedules to indicate completed orders thereby ensuring that completed orders are no longer tracked.
    • Attend to production queries by identifying causes of problems in order to give feedback and recommend appropriate solutions and ensure that problems are resolved and do not escalate.
    • Manage Drivers for collection and delivery of goods for workshop and customers
    • Manage fleet vehicles to ensure they are in operations.
    • Ensure customer delivery notes are handed over to Project Managers
    • Assist Project Managers with Bar charts if required for projects.
    • Make sure all QCP are updated on a daily basis and when jobs are done QCP signed off send back to Project Managers.
    • At all times adhere to procedures, instructions, quality ,safety standards and certification requirements.
    • SOX Compliance: Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls

    What do you need to bring? 

    • Supply Chain/ Planning Diploma or a Technical qualification
    • Technical Project planning background
    • At least 5 years’ experience in a purchasing / production environment
    • Expediting in a manufacturing environment
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Project
    • Knowledge of logistics processes and procedures
    • The ability to work independently with minimal supervisory guidance
