Supervisor / Manager (Retail Industry), KuGompo City at Sheldon Recruitment

• We are seeking a Supervisor / Manager (Retail Industry) for a permanent role, based in KuGompo City, Eastern Cape

Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:

• Grade 12 with 2+ years retail supervisory experience – ideally in an animal / vet-based environment
• Proficiency in MS Office and stock control
• Good customer service ability and communication skills
• Proven ability to meet sales targets and able to manage a small staff complement
• Must be an animal lover

The successful applicant would be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Generate retail sales
• Overall responsibility for the business meeting retail sales targets
• Assist in meeting turnover targets
• Effective stock management of all retail stock: ensuring effective stock control and stock rotation, neat and attractive merchandising of stock, ordering of merchandise to maintain optimum stock levels,
• Expiry date management of products
• Ensuring profitability of the business through correct pricing of merchandise, strategic purchasing and effective control of expenses.
• Creating in-house promotions, as well as implementing promotions initiated by suppliers
• Interacting with sales representatives of suppliers, evaluating new stock lines to introduce in the shop
• Sourcing of potential new suppliers
• Promoting retail sales to clients, especially for collection/delivery clients
• Providing accurate advice on general pet health, wellness and dietary choices to pet owners
• Appropriate recommendation and sales of accessories, toys and OTC products for the client’s pets

Staff management

• Ensuring that all sales staff, are made aware of new product lines being introduced as well as their nutritional value and receive information and usage instructions for these products
• Managing the merchandiser & cleaner, and part-time retail staff

General Administration

• Ensuring order, neatness and cleanliness of reception desk, storeroom, shop area, merchandise and displays
• Responsible for ensuring availability of required front office stationery and for ensuring that there is adequate change available for the cash float
• Ensuring the accuracy of the previous day’s cash up and petty cash records
• Responsible for dealing with the merchant helpdesk if there are problems with the card machines
• Ensuring that all administration linked to the position is completed timeously and accurately
• Completion of various product training course provided by suppliers or as instructed by the employer
• Doing month end reports every month on the date of the 15th
• Compiling and submitting supplier payments (check if stock processed is stock invoiced, before submitting for payment)
