    Systems Administrator: HR Systems

    Role Clarification & Key Performance Areas

    • The UWC’s Information and Communication Services (ICS) Department play a pivotal role in delivering ICT services that enable and support the University’s strategic goals and objectives. In line with growing its capability and supporting the Digital Transformation Strategy of UWC, ICS offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Systems Administrator: HR Systems in the ICS Applications Development and Support unit.  
    • The primary purpose of the Systems Administrator – HR Systems is to attend to everyday HR and Payroll related support issues, like FAQs, common difficulties, and time-sensitive queries. The aim is to solve problems at the first point of contact so that the customer can continue with their day as soon as possible.

    The key role and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

    Manage and maintain the access to the InforLN and HCM, and ensure health checks on the database as the system administrator as per signed off documentation according to Risk and Compliance Guidelines,

    • Provide second - level support,
    • Review, prioritise the resolution of technical issues, incidents,
    • Resolve support requests where possible,
    • Refer and escalate requests that cannot be resolved,
    • Provide support to the Human Resources Division,
    • Ensure that the interfaces / integrations between all applications runs successfully,
    • Analyse data provided when queries are logged via the helpdesk and interpret the problem statement to ensure clear communication to the vendor, when the ticket has been escalated to the vendor,
    • Assist with knowledge transfer to new users,
    • Records and report on user issues including the troubleshoot processes followed,
    • Render assistive support to Software analysts in defining user requirements,
    • Guide users to make use of self-help services,
    • Adhere to HCM and UWC best practices and standards,
    • Record and facilitate the process of logging users technical requests,
    • Manage the HCM Service desk requests and capture user interaction,
    • Assist in the identification, schedule and provision of end-user training,
    • Provide inputs in regards to the development of the User Training Manual,
    • Be an active member of the HCM User Group and support users in translating their user requirements and expectations for IT or the supplier to resolve.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Matric,
    • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) and up to 5 years relevant experience or an Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) with more than 5 years relevant experience.

    Experience

    • 3 Years demonstratable experience in an Administration, analysis or support role within an HCM (Payroll, HR, Staff Development, EE, etc) Environment,
    • Demonstratable understanding of legislative matters as it pertains to HCM,
    • Demonstratable competence using Microsoft Office products like MS word and Excel
