    Tax Compliance Manager

    • As a Tax Compliance Manager you’ll be supporting the delivery of ensuring that the company meets its tax compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions. This includes managing a team, preparing in the absence of the tax compliance specialist tax returns or the review thereof, managing tax audits, and ensuring compliance with changing tax laws and regulations. This will help us excel in delivering timeously to the senior management and shareholders of the organisation, to assist with their decision-making processes in driving the business enabling us to stay ahead of the game.

    What you’ll be doing

    As part of your role, your responsibilities will include:

    Tax Compliance Management

    • The Tax Compliance Manager is responsible for managing a team of four together with another Tax Compliance Manager, preparing tax returns in the absence of the Tax Compliance Specialist or reviewing thereof, and ensuring accurate submission of all corporate tax returns and indirect tax filings, including VAT / GST, in a timely manner across multiple jurisdictions. This entails a comprehensive understanding of diverse tax codes and requirements to ensure compliance with each applicable local law. The role requires regular coordination with external advisors and in-country tax specialists to handle filings for each region accurately and efficiently, reducing any risk of penalties or delayed submissions.

    Audit and Review

    • The Manager will manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities, acting as the main point of contact for external auditors and government representatives. This involves preparing comprehensive documentation, gathering and organizing financial data, and responding to inquiries promptly to support the company’s tax positions. In this capacity, the Tax Compliance Manager - ROW plays a crucial role in ensuring that all practices are compliant with both local and international tax regulations, fostering a transparent and cooperative relationship with tax authorities.

    Risk Management

    • Identifying and managing tax risks is a core responsibility of the role, as the Tax Compliance Manager - ROW continuously evaluates company practices to prevent and mitigate tax-related issues. This includes a detailed assessment of current processes and policies to ensure alignment with corporate compliance standards and industry regulations. The manager proactively addresses potential risks and implements best practices to safeguard the company’s financial interests and reputation within its operating jurisdictions.

    Tax Reporting

    • The Manager collaborates closely with accounting teams to ensure that all tax figures are accurately represented in financial reports, including calculations for deferred taxes, tax provisions, and disclosures. This requires a deep understanding of accounting standards, such as IFRS or GAAP, to ensure that all tax-related figures are reported in accordance with regulatory and financial reporting guidelines. By facilitating accurate tax reporting, the Tax Compliance Manager - ROW helps maintain transparency and integrity in financial statements.

    Policy Development

    • In this role, the Tax Compliance Manager - ROW develops and maintains tax policies and compliance manuals, setting standards and guiding best practices across the organization. This documentation ensures that all departments are well-informed of tax requirements and can refer to consistent policies when dealing with tax-related issues. By establishing clear guidelines, the manager helps cultivate a compliant culture and supports efficient tax management throughout the company.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • The Tax Compliance Manager - ROW works closely with various departments, including finance, legal, and operations, to provide insight into tax implications for major business decisions, such as mergers, acquisitions, and international expansions. This cross-functional collaboration is vital to ensuring that tax considerations are factored into strategic projects, minimizing risks and optimizing tax outcomes for the company. Through proactive communication, the manager helps align business goals with tax compliance obligations.

    Advisory Support

    • Supporting the Head of Tax, the manager provides tax guidance on strategic projects and complex initiatives, helping to shape tax-efficient solutions. This advisory role may involve research and analysis on specific tax issues, providing recommendations based on industry trends, and anticipating regulatory shifts. By delivering informed guidance, the manager contributes to the company’s overall tax strategy and helps ensure compliance on high-impact projects.

    Continuous Improvement

    • As tax legislation evolves, the Tax Compliance Manager - ROW monitors relevant changes and assesses the potential impact on the organization’s operations and tax liabilities. This involves staying current on new laws, analyzing proposed regulations, and implementing necessary adjustments to maintain compliance. Through ongoing improvement efforts, the manager ensures that the company’s tax practices remain up-to-date, reducing the likelihood of compliance risks and fostering adaptability to regulatory changes.

    Essential skills you’ll bring to the table

    The necessary skills that we require for this role include:

    • Working knowledge in similar role
    • 5+ Years Leadership Experience
    • 5+ Years Taxation Experience
    • Working knowledge of IFRS
    • 5-8 Years of Financial Experience
    • International tax and experience in or across complex, growth organisations across multiple jurisdictions
    • Solid Experience in Microsoft suite including Excel and MS Word
    • 5-8 Years experience with tax accounting reporting
    • Articles, CA (SA), CIMA or equivalent and/or SAICA
    • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting or Tax)

    Desirable skills you’ve got up your sleeve

    It would be great if you also have some of the following skills:

    • Experience in Navision, Thompson Reuters Orbitax and Once Source Provisioning Tool
    • Knowledge of SOX will be advantageous
