    Technical Lead

    Job Purpose

    • The Technical Lead provides expert technical direction and hands-on leadership for the design, development, and modernisation of scalable software solutions within the Insure IT environment. The role is accountable for ensuring the delivery of secure, high-quality, and high-performance applications through strong technical leadership, adherence to engineering standards, and the adoption of modern cloud, DevOps, and CI/CD practices.

    Key Performance Area’s

    Technical leadership and solution design (technical)

    • Provide hands-on technical leadership across solution design, development, and implementation
    • Guide architectural decisions to ensure scalability, performance, security, and maintainability
    • Modernise legacy systems, services, databases, and APIs in line with Insure IT architecture standards

    Software delivery and execution (technical)

    • Lead execution of software development initiatives to meet delivery timelines and quality standards
    • Enforce coding standards, engineering best practices, and quality assurance measures
    • Ensure solutions are optimised for reliability, performance, and secure coding principles

    Devops, cloud, and engineering practices (technical)

    • Drive adoption of Azure cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices
    • Support automation, deployment efficiency, and operational stability across environments
    • Promote continuous improvement in engineering tooling and practices

    Team leadership and capability development (behavioural)

    • Lead, mentor, and develop software engineers within the team
    • Foster a collaborative, high-performance, and learning-oriented team culture
    • Support onboarding, coaching, and capability uplift of junior and senior team members

    Stakeholder collaboration and requirements translation (behavioural)

    • Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, architects, and delivery teams
    • Translate business and stakeholder requirements into clear technical solutions and specifications
    • Provide progress reporting, technical input, and delivery insights to senior stakeholders

    Production support and operational accountability (technical)

    • Provide senior technical support for production incidents and escalations
    • Ensure system stability, resilience, and effective root-cause analysis
    • Maintain accountability for operational performance of delivered solutions

    Required Knowledge and Experience    
    Minimum experience

    • 10+ years’ experience in software development, including full-stack .net development
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a technical leadership or lead developer role

    Desirable experience

    • Experience modernising legacy systems within complex enterprise environments
    • Experience within insurance or financial services environments

    • Reduction of technical debt and successful modernisation outcomes

    Educational Requirements    
    Minimum qualification

    • Degree in computer science, information technology, or related field

    Desirable qualification

    • Microsoft azure, .net, or cloud-related certifications
