    Technical Specialist - FTTX

    ROLE PURPOSE

    • Our Client requires technical specialist to work within a fault management environment to provide high level technical support.

    ROLE REQUIREMENTS

    A Technical Specialist is responsible for the following: 

    • Liaise with the regional project teams
    • Liaise with third party NOC engineers and High-Level Support where necessary to seek support on network faults
    • Monitoring of faults to resolution
    • Manage, track and update open incidents with regional technicians and third parties.
    • Attend weekly meetings with third parties and provide latest update on open incidents.
    • Drive and resolve any logistical concerns with regional technicians and third-party network.
    • Use/Analyse current available reports to resolve network faults
    • Assume 2IC in absence of Operations lead
    • Identify potential Risk and issues the ASOC environment and provide in reporting & solutions
    • Managing shift handover report.
    • Manage, maintain and update weekly and monthly reporting


    PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES

    A technical Specialist has the following deliverables:

    • Liaise with third party and provide support
    • Improve Performance towards the Clients KPI
    • Ensure Quality reporting (Information accuracy)
    • Manage expectations of third parties
    • Management and reporting to target SLA’s (MTTD/MTTD/MTTC/MTTR) within allocated time.

    QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Matric/Grade 12 (Essential)
    • ICT or Telecommunications certification (Essential).
    • 3 year degree or diploma in either information systems or electronic engineering would be advantageous

    Sound knowledge of Transmission Infrastructure

    • 4/5 years’ experience of working within a monitoring* event management and Incident Management environment i.e. Network Operating Centre.
    • 4/5 years’ experience working with Remedy (ETOM) fault management system on front end – Incident Management level
    • 3/4 years knowledge RAN infrastructure (2G, 3G, LTE)

    Sound knowledge of TX infrastructure

    • Coriant Transmission
    • Nokia Transmission
    • Huawei Transmission
    • Microwave Technologies
    • DWDM Knowledge

    Advantageous Experience:

    • ITIL Foundation certification
    • Knowledge of problem Management
    • SQL
    • Python
    • Business Objects
    • Microsoft Power Automate
    • Microsoft Power BI
    • Good IT knowledge (A+/N+/Windows Server Certification)
    • CCNA

    • The ability to work in a team and to be proactive around self-learning
    • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
    • Willingness to assist with additional tasks given to the team

    Additional requirements:

    • Most important, be prepared to perform in a 24/7 environment, shift work, standby and overtime
    • Must be prepared to work outside of “working hours”.
    • Must be able to report to different reporting lines simultaneously.
