    Unit Manager - Pretoria

    Job Description    

    Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) has an exciting opportunity in our Manufacturing and Technical department.
    We are looking for a talented individual with the relevant skills and experience for the Unit Manager position, which is based in CCBSA Pretoria.
    The successful candidate will report directly to the Production Engineer in CCBSA Pretoria.

    To manage, lead and support the team so that manufacturing, quality and maintenance targets are achieved in the most cost effective and efficient manner, whilst meeting customer and business requirements.
    Key Duties & Responsibilities  

     Manage Quality in the Packaging Unit

    • Measure and manage quality compliance by identifying and incorporating Quality at Source targets into the relevant team goals.
    • Ensure that the team’s capability allows for effective and efficient quality management practices.
    • Ensure that equipment and instruments are kept calibrated, maintained and fit for use to preserve the integrity of analysis data.
    • Monitor compliance to the quality assurance systems, procedures and standards and take corrective action to prevent recurrence where required.

    Manage Health, Safety, Environment and Risk

    • Manage employee awareness of and training in Health and Safety, which may include signage, issuing and maintenance of PPE.
    • Manage compliance to safety procedures in accordance with legislative and business requirements, as well as documentation and clearance to work permits.
    • Conduct investigations and submit reports of incidents and accidents in accordance with company and legislative requirements.
    • Carry out regular inspections of the plant and equipment in accordance with company and statutory requirements.
    • Manage the appointment of safety committee representatives in accordance with requirements.
    • Conduct safety meetings on a monthly basis and ensure minutes are kept and all actions taken.
    • Monitor housekeeping, reporting and audits to ensure that efficient and effective housekeeping is maintained.

    Manage Cost Plans

    • Formulate and control expense and capital budgets so that expenses are planned for, and managed effectively within budgetary parameters.
    • Identify variances and take corrective action to control costs, working with the Packaging level 3 and 2 teams.

    Manage Human Resources

    • Manage the team effectively in order to achieve the goals, high engagement levels and quality work outputs.
    • Initiate, develop and maintain relationships according to collective agreements, conditions of employment, core values, disciplinary code and strategies.
    • Manage and ensure the continuous development of the team to allow for the effective and efficient functioning of the manufacturing unit.
    • Drive the completion of CAP guide assessments for team.
    • Manage and ensure regular engagements with team to ensure alignment and the addressing of needs and risks as they may arise.
    • Maintain the knowledge and application of the PERFORM Way.
    • Maintain ownership of own performance and that of team.
    • Lead monthly, six-monthly and yearly one-on-one sessions based on comprehensive self-reviews and customer feedback to improve performance.
    • Manage the interactions with Supply Chain to ensure that the unit is planned productively.

    Qualifications / Experience

    • A minimum of a Matric and a BSC or BTech in Engineering qualification.
    • Relevant 3 year post matric qualification (N6 or S4 Diploma) and technical and/or production management experience.
    • A minimum of 5+ years (Large Plant /Multiple Lines) production and leadership experience in a FMCG environment.
