    Foundation Phase Virtual Teacher

    Purpose of Role:

    SPARK Schools virtual teachers drive student achievement by maintaining high expectations for virtual classroom culture, behaviour, and academic growth for all students. SPARK Schools Foundation Phase virtual teachers are grade and/or content specialists, who receive on­going professional development customised for their past experience and individual needs. The Foundation Phase teacher will be involved in the teaching of Math, Literacy, Life Orientation and SEL.

    Foundation Phase virtual teachers are integral to the SPARK Schools culture and our commitment to rigorous, engaging learning experiences for our scholars.

    Reports To: Foundation Phase Virtual School Team Leader

    Requirements

    • Plan for and be prepared to deliver synchronous virtual lessons to students from 7:30­-4:00 pm (depending on grade level assignment and timetable) daily within content and/or grade area specialisation.

    • Provide instruction in a variety of subjects and reach students with engaging lesson

    plans and resources.

    • Collaborate with grade level and content area partners to develop rigorous, engaging virtual learning experiences and to create individualised behaviour and learning plans for all scholars.

    • Attend required professional development (virtual or in person).

    • Administer and mark formative and summative (termly)assessments to track student progress and analyse the data for student growth.

    • Submit scholar results data when required.

    • Virtual SPARK educators should have a core focus on student achievement and should drive all scholars to meet the required proficiency ratings.

    • Be prepared to lead weekly virtual SEL (Social Emotional Learning) circles and implement SPARK Schools Social Emotional Learning Curriculum.

    • Use SPARK culture and implement behaviour management strategies.

    • Communicate professionally with colleagues, parents and other stakeholders.

    • Participate actively in staff development opportunities as a member of the SPARK Schools team.

    • Conduct self in a professional manner at all SPARK Schools events and to all stakeholders.

    • Nurture a high ­achieving work environment where all scholars feel genuinely valued and supported.

    • Promote the vision and mission of SPARK Schools to staff, scholars, families, and the greater community.

    • Adhere to the child protection, anti-bullying and health and safety policy.

    Qualifications:

    The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

    • B.Ed. degree or PGCE. Foundation Phase

    • Certification through the South African Council of Educators (SACE).

    • SAQA accreditation for non-South African equivalent qualifications.

    • At least 1 year of teaching experience.

    • English language fluency.

    • Clear criminal record

    • Experience teaching in a SPARK School will be an advantage.

    Position Type: Limited Duration Contract until end of Term 4 2021

    Expiry date: Friday 06th August 2021 at 10H00am

    Compensation: Commensurate with experience.

    Location: SPARK Support, Rosebank or other school-based location, as coordinated with line manager.

    This is an in-person working position, though delivery to scholars is virtual.
