    • Senior Pricing Analyst to report to the Head of Pricing.

    Business Head: Operations (Marine)

    CAREER OPPORTUNITY

    • Santam Specialist Solutions has a career opportunity for a Business Head: Operations in the Marine department which will be based in Gauteng.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Primary Role Objective – Strategic Business fulfilment:

    • Assist the business area in determining and continuously update the strategic plan for the Business Unit in order to deliver on the group’s overall objective of “sustainable & profitable growth” – i.e. Growth in top line GPW and growth in bottom line NUR.
    • Assist the business area in the implementation and execution of the all the required strategic actions plans to achieve the overall objective of ‘sustainable & profitable growth’
    • The Business Head Operations will support the business with the management of daily operations within the claims and policy areas of the business. The role will further require strategic support to the Business Head Marines with financial, compliance, governance and risk-related matters that require accountability so that there is proper oversight.  In addition, the role will require the undertaking of the product owner role for system development that requires oversight and management.

    To achieve the above, the following key actions (not exhaustive) are expected:

    Manager: Claims (Marine)

    ABOUT THE POSITION

    • Santam Marine Claims has a position available for a Claims Manager. The position reports to the Business Head Operations and the successful candidate will be based at Alice Lane Sandton, Gauteng

    WHAT WILL YOU DO?

    • This position is responsible for providing strategic and operational direction to optimize and manage marine claims value chain within the Santam Marine as well as achieve superior claims outcomes through effective workforce/talent management, claims quality and service delivery, and the use of technology and data analytics. The successful incumbent will also be accountable for participating in short-, medium-, and long-term strategic business planning, as well as special projects and annual budget planning.
    • You will be required to identify and implement measures to ensure the optimum functioning of the claims area through development and implementation of policies and procedures aimed at  standardising operations to achieve a consistent approach across the team, minimising the risk of fraud, rogue claims handling, claims leakage and non-adherence to mandates, measuring the performance of the team against benchmarks, improving service levels, operational efficiency and risk management.

    Individual Claims Leadership

    • Manage a team of individuals, involved in claims from notification to closure, investing the necessary level of involvement required for each claim depending on, inter alia, the nature, category, maturity, type and quantum of the claim.

    • Define product strategy, visions, objectives and product roadmap for the Client Solutions Sales & Servicing business.
    • Understand the business goals and vision and translate this into a product strategy that meets and exceed these goals
    • Work with product and business stakeholders to ensure delivery that meets customer needs and enables strategic intent.
    • Works with the teams to break features into stories including acceptance criteria based of the Business requirements. 
    • Involvement in team and program meetings – PI planning, agile ceremonies, sprint standup, retros etc

    • Performance of the product and will have report back performance and gaps identified. 
    • Continuously evaluate product based on user and stakeholder engagement, interaction and feedback.
    • Management reporting of product performance at governance forums.

    What will make you successful in this role?
    Minimum requirements:

    • Minimum 4-6 years as a Product owner in an agile environment OR 8 years plus as a Senior Business analyst/ Business Architect in an agile environment 
    • Related IT or Business degree
    • Working experience in Short term insurance and financial services industry
    • Knowledge of Agile framework like Scrum, Kanban, Scaled Agile (SAFe) etc

    Risk Analyst - FTC (CPT)

    The role

    Santam’s has an exciting new opportunity a Risk Analyst within Santam Partnership Solution (SPS), a division of Santam Limited. This is a 12-month fixed term contract available based in Tygervalley, Cape Town.

    What will you do?

    • To assist the Risk Manager with risk management related activities across SPS and also assist in the execution of risk management monitoring across the businesses within SPS.

    What will make you successful in this role?

    • Support the Risk Manager with ERM functions across all risk types. Collaborate with stakeholders (including second line risk management) to support a culture of risk awareness and reporting within SPS.
    • Perform risk identification, assessment and management across the business through the development and use of risk tools such as Risk registers, risk surveys, KRIs, RCSAs, root cause analysis on Risk Events, etc.
    • Support the Risk Manager in ensuring that reporting is timely, accurate and covers all relevant elements of the framework to Management and external parties providing the adequate comprehensive view exposure of the organization. Perform research of best practice and incorporate into processes by collaborating with stakeholders.
    • Ensure that the Risk Management Frameworks remain fit for purpose and are aligned with Santam’s standards and best practices.
    • Monitor and track all Audit issues across all business within SPS.
    • Support the Combined Assurance by preparing the ERM submission, collating submissions from the other assurance providers and preparing accurate minutes thereof. Communicate with all stakeholders and manage delivery of actions.
    • Support the build-up of ERM’s body of knowledge
    • Maintain the structure to documents and records
    • Liaise with the appropriate counterparties on ERM Systems and Data ensuring their quality, fitness, and governance.
    • Perform risk training with stakeholders

    Qualification and Experience

    • Degree in a relevant subject (risk management / insurance / accounting, etc)
    • At least 2 years relevant Risk Management related experience in the financial services industry, preferably non-life insurance industry.

    Skills

    • Knowledge and practical experience of Financial Services (non-life insurance preferred).
    • Interest in all risk types (insurance, operational, market risks)
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint

    Litigation Manager (JG8)

    WHAT WILL YOU DO

    • This position requires an individual to instruct and manage external attorneys. Investigate the merits of all litigation matters and determine whether litigation is viable. Monitor and manage legal costs and also ensure that the panel attorneys adhere to the prescribed Santam Attorney Model according to cost and performance.

    WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL

    • Determine if Policy need to respond to claims lodged by applying policy wording to the facts;
    • Appointing and management of resources like Loss Adjusters, reconstruction experts and Attorneys;
    • Ensure correct settlement of claims;
    • Effective Diary Management;
    • Liaise with brokers, administrators, underwriting and other relevant parties to the claims process.
    • Service: Providing excellent professional service to all relevant parties, both Internal and External;
    • Authorisation of Claims Payments in accordance with mandate.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • LLB/BCom Law/equivalent
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in subrogation recoveries and indemnities, or similar experience in commercial litigation 
    • Two years’ experience after admission (practice experience)
    • Being an admitted attorney will serve as an advantage.
    • Thorough knowledge and practical experience in Civil Litigation.
