Commercial Seed Supply Manager at PepsiCo

• Execute and manage all local and new SSA Commercial Seed Potato Production Agreements (
• Execute and manage the commercial seed programme by managing and overseeing the financial transactions required for the trade commercial potato seed between seed producers, PepsiCo and chipstock producers to meet the PSP & Productivity growth objectives.
• Maintain an accurate commercial seed database and tracking tool of all seed crops of proprietary potato varieties with all seed growers of all generations (over 5/6 time period).
• Manage flow and scheduling of seed between commercial seed partners including but not limited to seed producers, transporters, cold storage service providers, seed financiers and chipstock producers in accordance with the short, medium and long-term seed requirements of the business.
• Conduct regular field visits to strategic seed potato growers and seed supply companies in order to keep track of commercial seed crop quantities and seed quality, and to provide technical assistance and best practices advice on Simba’s seed crops where needed.
• Implement a quarterly control (KC) for accurate reporting of commercial seed production of proprietary potato varieties exposure and risk.
• Interact frequently with the Commercial Agronomy Supply function as well as commercial growers for accurate planning of seed requirements per variety and per crop region according to the IPS strategy.
• Handle farmer queries w.r.t. seed volumes, quality and disputes.
• Manage and administer all KPI-related data to be accurate and on time, as well as to generate the necessary reports and corporate presentations.
• Manage and support the Financial Seed Manager and Seed Administration Controller.
• Manage the commercial potato supply planning in accordance with the production needs of the BU.
• Maintain accurate weekly, monthly and annual potato supply plans for the BU.
• Review supply balances, evaluate risks (eg. processing plant stock levels, demand, weather, crop availability, quality loss, etc.) and cause of change on a regular basis (daily/weekly/monthly).
• Work with planning team to understand demand and capacity developments for short and medium term supply (eg. outsourcing projects, promotional activity, capacity changes, etc.) and provide input from potato supply.
   

Qualifications/Requirements

• Preferably B.Sc. (Agric) degree or National Diploma in Agriculture or similar or extensive potato and seed production experience (<10 years)
• Commercial potato and/or potato seed trade experience (<5 years)
• Knowledge of agricultural inputs (fertilizer – BASOS and/or crop protection –AVCASA).
• Knowledge of interpreting and executing usage fee agreements and contracts.
• Knowledge of the local and international potato industry.
• Knowledge of local organized agriculture.
• Good strategic planning and technical skills.
• High level of computer literacy.
