    Chief Engineer (Dis Plan Light Plan & Nc)

    Key Responsibility Areas:

    • Provides comments on options and alternatives with respect to the processes and procedures encapsulated in specific complex engineering work
    • Assesses the requirements and researching relevant literature to support alignment of processes and/or methodologies applicable to specific electrical engineering programmes and interventions.
    • Mentors and coaches professional and technical personnel on the application of procedures, problem solving sequences and communication dimensions.

    Essential Requirements

    • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering (NQF Level 8) in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
    • Registered as a Professional Electrical or Electronic Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
    • Valid motor vehicle driving license
    • 5 Years relevant post registration experience in the Electricity Supply Industry.
    • Computer Literacy.

    Key Responsibility Areas

    • Drives light motor vehicle to various locations within the municipality and undertakes daily deliveries.
    • Ensures that material is distributed timeously.
    • Performs binding, padding, wrapping and labelling of documents, parcels, etc.

    Key Responsibility Areas

    Work Study Administrator

    Key Responsibility Areas

    • Undertakes the work study interventions of a basic nature for the effective and efficient use of machinery, manpower and materials in order to improve productivity throughout the Municipality.
    • Apply techniques designed to establish the time for a qualified worker to carry out a specified job at defined level of performance of a basic. 
    • Eliminate the unnecessary operations by systematically recording and critically examining the ways of doing work of a basic work study nature by identifying easier and effective methods and reducing cost.
    • Determine the amount of time required by a worker to complete a unit of work of a basic work study nature using the specified method at a standard pace.
    • Undertake business process management of a basic work study nature for the Municipality.
    • Investigate and report work of a basic work study nature on the utilization of resources resulting in wastage and inefficiency to ensure the elimination of fruitless expenditure.
    • Implement a cost containment system of a basic work study nature within the Municipality. 

    Essential Requirements

    • Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Operations Management or Production Management or Industrial Engineering or Management Services or any other related and equivalent qualification.

    Administrator (Vehicle Allowance)

    Key Responsibility Areas

    • Interviewing employees and explaining the full procedure in respect of the vehicle allowance to ensure compliance with rules, policies and procedures and ensuring that the correct authorizations have been obtained.
    • Receiving, collating or batching and checking source documentation prior commencing with capturing sequence.
    • Updating the schedule and processing adjusted allowances for employees of the former entities directly onto the salary pay system to reimburse employees in compliance with the scheme rules.
    • Dealing with telephonic and written enquires concerning vehicle allowance by responding timeously to all queries and correspondence.
    • Obtaining the information from the pay section about unpaid leave and maternity leave and reduce the allowance where necessary.

    Safety and Risk Officer

    SAFETY AND RISK OFFICER 

    • Monitors compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, Municipal safety, Health and Environmental Standards, Policies and Procedures.
    • Keeps abreast with amendments to Occupational Health and Safety Legislations and industry best practices.
    • Conducts independent inquiries into the occurrence of reportable incidents and fatalities and acts as liaison for the Department of labour inquiries.
    • Assists the Manager Safety and Risk in collating municipal wide accident/incident statistics.
    • Plans and conducts internal safety and risk audits through consultation with respective Cluster Management.
    • Plans and conducts workplace risk assessments through consultation with respective Cluster Management.
    • Undertakes research into the introduction and application of new products, work methods,processes and equipment.
    • Co-ordinates the administrative dimension associated with various tasks.
    • Ensures Municipal staff receive appropriate training in Health and Safety. 

    SENIOR SAFETY AND RISK OFFICER 

    • Assess, mentor and monitor new Safety and Risk Officers developmental needs in terms of the Units Skills Development Strategy.
    • Participate in Safety departmental planning.
    • Consult with Line Management regarding Health and Safety audits and Risk Assessments conducted in all Clusters.
    • Co-ordinate the Safety Department expenditure in conjunction with the Manager (Safety and Risk).
    • Complete health and safety audits and risk management processes.
    • Compile monthly reports on services rendered to eThekwini Municipality Clusters.
    • Conduct external health and safety audits.

    Essential Requirements
