    Field Service Project Manager - Kempton Park

    Role Purpose: 

    • Prepare Field Service project proposals/tenders for refurbishments including the technical and commercial aspects of the proposal. Shutdown Management including vendor supply, customer site-based projects within in SSA, CA & WA. This is a site-based role.

    Your responsibilities

    • Attend site meetings for scope clarification;
    • Call proposal kick off meetings; ensure all documents and technical requirements are submitted to all relevant parties before the kick-off meeting
    • Ensure that the Scope of Work is properly defined in conjunction with the client, accounts manager, technical services, field service engineers, workshop and engineering;
    • Review the inquiry documents for special requirements – special materials/specifications.
    • Prepare assessment of the technical, financial, schedule or any other unusual risks associated with a proposal.
    • Compile a proposal & schedule for tender, with deadlines
    • Obtain quotations from various sub-suppliers and workshop from the official vendor’s list
    • Compile and keep updated proper proposal documentation and signed costing model.
    • Ensure that cost estimate are accurate and in line with the Scope of Work’ and official margins and mark-ups are adhered to.
    • Review the Terms and Conditions of Contract and liaise with the commercial and finance departments;
    • Review tender returnable documents and liaise with HSEQ/Logistics & Procurement departments for input required
    • Submit proposals/tenders and negotiate the final Scope of Work and Conditions of Contract;
    • Arrange a kick-off meeting with all the internal stakeholders (engineering, procurement, quality control and cost control) on Contract Award;
    • Compile a post proposal report and close out meeting after submission of tender – high light shortfalls and problems.
    • Maintain knowledge of approved company vendors, estimating methods as well as project execution procedures.
    • Ensure sign off procedures are followed and sufficient time (at least 48 hours) is allowed for signatures.
    • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
    • Ensure proper proposal schedule is kept and priorities set for own area of responsibility.
    • Accountable for project scope within the agreed time and cost
    • Provide leadership and co-ordination for the project team
    • Provide liaison between project team/clients/contractors/authorities/other stakeholders
    • Act as a catalyst in anticipating and overcoming problems
    • Identify and manage resources
    • Responsible for all activities to RFC (Ready for Commissioning) of new production facilities
    • Draw up, agree and manage the plan of execution
    • Report on project progress to senior management and client
    • Demonstrate leadership and sound technical experience
    • Anticipate engineering problems and implement workable solutions.
    • Manage Shutdowns (site corrective maintenance/ breakdowns and upgrade and general plant shutdown work)
    • Set up Project Plans and budgets and schedules
    • Ensure required parts and tools are on site
    • Source drawings
    • Manage resources – transport, Tools & Equipment, Human
    • Shutdown Site manager
    • Liaise with sub-contractors for site work
    • Execute upgrade projects within time and budget
    • Define technical scope of work
    • Regular feedback to Management
    • Detailing of materials, consumables, spares, tools, etc. for onsite work
    • Expediting supply of spares, consumables, external labour etc.,
    • Monitor and utilisation of labour supplier availability
    • Compile and present project data packs after completion.
    • Manage special projects for Service Department and Service Centre
    • Interaction with Client on Shutdown – requirements / scope / delays
    • Accurate tracking of project and impact management
    • Detail leads and lags
    • Supply contract management, including manufacturing and vendors
    • Manage site execution as site manager
    • Extensive time from site on project execution

    What you bring

    • Engineering qualification Mechanical / Electrical preferable (Degree/ B Tech, or equivalent diploma qualification including a trade qualification)
    • 5 to 8 years’ experience working in a similar position would be advantageous. 
    • 5 years project management experience
    • 5 to 10 years Field Service experience
    • 3 years relevant experience of the NEC or/and FIDIC contract and its requirements
    • Project Management Qualification

    Position Specific / Technical Competencies

    • Site and commissioning experience
    • Proposal preparation and or feasibility study experience.
    • Experience in project costing.
    • MS Excel Spread sheet costing models and MS Office software programs.
    • Service Revamp Process understanding.

    • Translating P&L owner’s growth strategy into procurement/supply chain strategy
    • Full Supply chain and procurement responsibility for your products
    • Separation and dewatering
    • Flotation, e.g. rotors and stators
    • Filtration, e.g. filter manufacturing and filter cloth
    • Gold Concentrators, e.g. concentrator baskets
    • Other parts as agreed.
    • In- and outsource analysis, strategy, and decision.
    • Lead time and SIFOT (Supplier in Full On-Time) improvement.
    • Total cost optimization
    • Optimization of ordering process

    Your Qualifications: 

    • Relevant BSc or MSc degree or deep practical experience.
    • Strong communication skills in English both orally and writing
    • You thrive to work in a technically and organizationally complex business environment.
    • You have insights into analyzing own manufacturing data and like working with data.
    • You have knowledge about Polyurethane (PU) products and manufacturing.
    • You can work independently and are not afraid to challenge the “as is” way of working.
    • You have an entrepreneurial and pragmatic mindset and are ready to challenge the status quo.
