    Earthworks Chargehand (North West)

    Description

    • To coordinate operations and oversee employees to ensure the successful completion of a project at a construction site.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Leadership

    • Supervising and leading the team.
    • Ensuring the safety of the team members.
    • Communicating the job to and with the team.
    • Ensuring team compliance with company policies and procedures.

    Planning and Scheduling

    • Translating general work requirements into a prioritised work plan for the team.
    • Periodically review daily goals to meet the forecasted production.
    • Work with the team to overcome work related challenges.

    Quality Control

    • Recognising, addressing and resolving issues/problems among or between employees in the team.
    • Promoting, supporting and facilitating teamwork and harmony between all team members by fostering a positive attitude among all team members.

    Administration

    Site Administrator (North West)

    Description

    • This position exists administer financial and payroll activities at site level, serving as the primary source of accurate and timely data input for both HRM and financial systems.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Safety

    • Maintain FA and client safety policy and procedure requirements.
    • Promote safety performance.
    • Report all incidents/accidents.

    Human Resources Management (HRM)

    • Ensure that back up of the data base is available.
    • Maintain and update all HR records, including personal files, leave, disciplinary records, medical aid documents, employee lists, organograms and HR training records.•
    • Manage payroll inputs, including batch imports for wages, allowances, back pay calculations, overtime processing and payroll data uploads on Sage.
    • Administer employee leave (salaries and wages), ensuring accurate tracking and that employees do not exceed accumulated leave days.
    • Handle employee queries, claims and requests (including travel and petrol claims), ensuring accurate processing and timely resolution.

    Governance

    • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including FA policies and procedures.
    • Ensure Payroll inputs are in accordance with FA Policy.

    Cost and Shared Services 

    • Controlling, compiling and the forwarding of the time book document, as required by wages on a monthly basis.
    • Analyse, drill down and identify the variance amongst the budget, forecast and actuals on item level and provide explanations for the variances.
    • Record daily site costing and forecasting, including daily hours on internal and external plant for costing and supplier invoicing.
    • Manage site stores and consumables and record transactions relating to issues, receiving and stock take.
    • Capture Payroll data input accurate, ensure completeness of payroll and wages inputs and the correct allocation of costs.

    Perform General Administration

    • Complete all reports regarding safety, production, personnel, quality control and maintenance.
    • Support site level communication including the distribution of correspondence and memos, update notice boards and other Assist with bookings and administration relating to training.
    • Arrange and take minutes of site communications forums.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Grade 12 with Accountancy and/or Mathematics (advantageous).
    • Diploma in Business Management/Administration.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum two years’ experience in the role or similar.
    • Experience with an ERP system (Advantageous).

    SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Computer Literacy in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Payroll input and HR.

    Description

    Operations Supervisor (Gauteng)

    PURPOSE

    • The aim of the Operations Supervisor is to ensure that tasks are carried out on site and on shift regarding Safety, Environment and Productivity. To assist the Superintendent and other line managers with the efficient and effective running of the site.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Business / Functional Management

    • Execute operational and technical duties in line with organisational directives.Support implementation of business initiatives as directed in their area.

    Financial, Commercial and Contracts Management

    • Work with materials and equipment in a cost-effective way, as per standard operating procedures and practice notes as directed by line manager.
    • Ensure full compliance to material usage requirements in executing duties.
    • Risk Management and Compliance, Including Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) Responsibility
    • Execute all duties in strict compliance to Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) policies, procedures and legislation, to ensure the company's responsibility is met.
    • Comply with all reporting and information requirements as set by the Superintendent.

    Stakeholder Management (Internal and External)

    • Ensure professional interaction with stakeholders from operator to junior management level.
    • Maintain working relationships with support functions on site and at head office, as required to deliver in their section against standards.

    Operations and Project Management

    • Contribute to plan / schedule generation for daily / shift work, in line with project goals.
    • Responsible for operational execution of work, through delivery of own tasks and duties, as well as supervision of the work for the team on shift.

    Management Operating Systems and Reporting

    • Ensure all paperwork and posters are displayed on the site office wall and kept up to date.
    • Ensure all reported near misses are recorded following procedure and submitted weekly.

    Technical Management

    • Responsible for adherence to technical standards and work methods, for section, in accordance with organisational and client requirements, policies, procedures and legislation.

    SHEQ Management

    • Check sums are right on plan drawings and quantities and that all materials and work are to the specifications.
    • Record the condition of plant arriving on site in a form with photographs.

    ​​​​​​​Staff Management

    • Highlights any deviations or non-compliance that may occur.
    • Execute duties in full compliance of safety, training and health requirements.

    ​​​​​​​Culture and Climate

    • Contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement for the duration of the project.
    • Align with client culture requirements as directed by management.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • National Diploma in Civil or Mining / Metallurgical / Industrial Engineering or equivalent
    • B Tech in Civil or Mining / Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent preferred

    ​​​​​​​EXPERIENCE

    • At least 1 to 2 years’ experience working in a mining / tailing’s environment, technical drawings and knowledge of tailings materials

    SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Solid understanding of the Mining Industry with specific emphasis on Tailings business.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the national legislation, standards and bylaws applicable to Tailings business.
    • Excellent knowledge and understanding of technical and operational aspects core to the tailings industry.
