    Surveyor - Kathu / Kuruman Area

    • The incumbent will be responsible to make exact measurements and determine the mines boundaries. Provide data relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land.

    Minimum Requirements    
    ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • National Diploma Survey

    EXPERIENCE:

    • At least five (5) years experience as a surveyor, in an Opencast Mining environment.

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):

    • To effectively carry out survey of the open pit mining operations
    • Establish and build good client relationships.
    • Ensure compliance to Safety and Quality policies, procedures and standards.
    • Ensure that surveys are carried out according to plan, results are reported, deviations identified and corrective actions recommended.
    • Survey planning policies, guidelines and procedures are adhered to in respect of all work outputs.
    • Systems to ensure quality control of plan and layout delivery are designed, implemented and monitored
    • Systems to ensure full compliance with the requirements of the Minerals Act within the Survey sphere.
    • Ensure that resources needed to meet own Survey work output plans, as well as the necessary logistics, are planned and scheduled.
    • Ensure that the quality of mine surveying practice and mining operations in general are continuously reviewed
    • Interface and reporting of production to management.
    • Daily measuring reporting as per requirements of contractual environment

    Knowledge Skills & Abilities    
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Survey working knowledge within the mining industry (Surface)
    • Auditing skills
    • Legal knowledge
    • Report writing skills
    • Sound knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD, CAD Mine or similar Mine design / survey packages

    Mining Manager - Ogies

    • To manage the execution of the required work within the project schedules and contractual agreements, ensuring technical excellence and effective coordination of the respective staff within the project team. Plan, direct, coordinate, or budget, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with bulk earthworks (including drill and blast) in accordance with the mining plan. Participate in the conceptual development of an Opencast Mining project and oversee its organization, scheduling, and implementation.

    Minimum Requirements    
    ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Degree/ National Diploma - Mining Engineering (Preferred)
    • Opencast Blasting Certificate (Compulsory)
    • Mining Managers Certificate (Preferred)
    • Mine Overseer Certificate (Preferred)

     EXPERIENCE:

    • At least fifteen years mining supervisory experience in an opencast mining environment of which at least five years must be at Senior Management level

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Stakeholder Management:

    • Establish and build good client relationships.
    • Liaise with the Mining manager from the client to ensure we always have adequate space to mine.
    • Ensure critical sub-contractors are managed according to the SLA
    • Deliver assurance to management team that mine plans are optimised, low risk and achievable.

    Health and Safety:

    • Ensure compliance to Safety and Quality policies, procedures and standards
    • Oversee the entire mining value chain in terms of H&S and quality
    • Complete over inspections of systems and processes to ensure safe working environment.
    • Promote and enforce culture of safety, health and environmental compliance.
    • Demonstrate personal commitment regarding safety , health and environmental practices.

    Financial:

    • Ensure financial management and cost is adhered to as per project budget
    • Ensure surveys are accurately completed and feed into the invoicing process
    • Validate equipment requirements for maximum utilisation.
    • Identify business improvement opportunities.
    • Assist in contract tenders, validations, assessments for sub-contractors or service providers. Provide input into the development of the business plan
    • Review and authorize payments in line with approved budget and policy

    General Management:

    • Plays a key role in all people management processes, in particular developing of site team technical and operational skills through training, mentoring and assisting teams.
    • Responsible for ensuring all administrative requirements are met
    • Manage all associated Geotech risks and processes
    • Plan, organize, execute and monitor the bench preparation, drill & blast as well as load and haul processes.
    • Dump planning, optimisation and sequencing for optimal operation.
    • Ensure surveying is completed timeously and submitted for financial review
    • Oversee the daily, weekly, monthly and annual planning for the operation
    • Ensure all mining departments are adequately staffed
    • Manage subordinates’ key performance indicators by setting and monitoring performance standards and taking action to correct deviations to achieve objectives
    • Responsible for managing training against development plans and performance contract

    Knowledge Skills & Abilities    

    • Knowledge of Xpac / Surpac will be an advantage.
    • Vast knowledge of an Open Cast Mining Operation.
    • Vast knowledge of Loading & Hauling procedures, laws, regulations and blast management.
    • Solid knowledge of IR Procedures
    • Business Aptitude - The ability to drive profits, exceed targets and minimize losses.
    • Technical Aptitude - The capacity for using specific knowledge, tools or other equipment to enhance performance.
    • Strong computer literacy in the following: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, blast design software.

    SHE Controller - Kathu

    • Maintain health and safety systems in the organization. Identify hazards and assess risks to health and safety, enforce safety controls and provide advice on accident prevention and occupational health to management and employees. Ensure total compliance with the Mines Health and Safety Act.

    Minimum Requirements    
    ADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • National Diploma – Safety and Risk Management (Advantage)
    • SHE Systems Auditor Certification (OHSAS / ISO)
    • COMSOC 1, 2 & 3

    EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

    • 3 - 5 years’ experience in the same or similar role,
    • Excellent knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act
    • Clean Criminal record

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Conduct internal SHE audits and assess the effectiveness of the SHE system and
    • Implement and facilitate a corrective action plan for non-conformance and non -compliances found in auditing processes
    • Gather and compile weekly, monthly and quarterly detailed reports with required SHE information as per mining standards and submit to site

    Facilitate the following:

    • Accident / Incident Investigation
    • Accident / Incident outcomes and corrective actions
    • Evaluate, monitor and verify employee training qualifications prior to appointments as per training matrix
    • Facilitate a risk assessment program
    • Facilitate a behavior base safety program
