    Sessional Doctor

    Job Purpose    

    • To provide a technical medical specialist service within Occupational Health Section.

    Key Responsibility Areas    

    • Conducting general Occupational Health and Services including pre-placement examinations and medical screening.
    • Performing medical surveillance assessments and conducting disability assessments.
    • Providing specialist input in the programmes within the section e.g. immunisation, family planning, treatment of minor ailments and minor injuries, psychiatric after-care, tuberculosis, sexually transmitted diseases and other communicable disease programmes.
    • Providing assistance to the Occupational Health Medical Practitioners in the planning and organisation of delegated services and specialised functions.
    • Providing support and resources in the co-ordination and implementation of Occupational Medicine Services in respect of Civil Protection requirements.
    • Providing expert advise on clinical medical issues including occupational health and hygiene matters to personnel in various service Units.
    • Analysing occupational medicine trends, incidents and prevalence thereof encountered at the allocated service outlet point.
    • Maintaining an up to date knowledge of all elements of comprehensive health services legally, ethically and educationally.
    • Providing specialised service to the occupational hygiene, nursing and first aid services.

    Essential Requirements    

    • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), (NQF Level 8) or equivalent recognized by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and an Advanced Diploma in Occupational Health (NQF Level 8) or equivalent acceptable to the HPCSA and current valid registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
    • Valid motor vehicle driving license.
    • 5 Years experience in Occupational Health as an Occupational Health Medical Practitioner.

    Preferred Requirements    

    • 8 Years experience in Occupational Health as an Occupational Health Medical Practitioner.

    Job Purpose    

    • To provide an effective and efficient cashiering service.

    Key Responsibility Areas    

    • Performs a cashiering function and attends to customer queries.

    Senior Manager (Hv Network Control)

    Job Purpose    

    • To manage the Branch responsible for the continuous monitoring, control and operation of the High Voltage Network of eThekwini Electricity.

    Key Responsibility Areas    

    • Accepts responsibility for the safe and effective control of the High Voltage system, being the supply networks at voltage levels from 275 000 Volts down to 33 000 Volts and including the 11 000 Volt and 6 600 Volt outgoing circuits at substations with a primary voltage in the High Voltage system range.
    • To manage and monitor the immediate and short term demands on the HV system to determine the most cost effective, secure and safe method of operating and to monitor and report on quality of supply (QOS) throughout the HV system and to ensure that QOS meets contractual and regulatory limits.
    • Determines and implements the strategy for substation monitoring, data acquisition and control and computerised presentation of electrical network layout.
    • Determine and implements the strategy for substation security and access control.
    • Ensures expected outcomes associated with productivity and performance of personnel in the branch.
    • Creates a safe working environment.
    • Prepares capital and operating estimates for the Branch and approves and controls operational and project related expenditure against the budget allocations.
    • Manages the formulation of specific contracts and tender documents and controls contractual obligations.
    • Ensure service delivery to all customers connected to the High Voltage network.
    • Co-ordinates specific administrative and reporting requirements associated with the key performance and result indicators of the functionality.
    • Disseminates strategic, functional and operational information on the immediate, short and long term objectives and current developments, problems and constraints.
    • Undertakes related duties.

    Essential Requirements    

    • Relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (NQF Level 8).
    • Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa.
    • Valid motor vehicle driving license.
    • 6 Years relevant experience with 5 years post registration experience.

    Preferred Requirements    

    • Registered as a Professional Engineer (Electrical Electronic) and a relevant management

    qualification.

    • 7 Years relevant experience, with 5 years post registration relevant to the electricity distribution or transmission industry.

    Job Purpose    

    • Manages the key performance areas of the high voltage cables branch.

    • Identifies and defines the immediate,short and long term objectives/plans of the Branch.

    Job Purpose

    Civil Engineering Technician

    Job Purpose    

    • Applies technical Engineering procedures and applications associated with the provision of information, formulation and development and/ or draughting of plans, proposals and designs at an elementary level, preparing contractual documentation and monitoring the implementation and execution of minor contracts. 

    Key Responsibility Areas

    • Provides technical information on the principles and applications associated with structural form and efficiencies for basic engineering works.
    • Applies principles and techniques associated with the development of engineering designs at a basic level.
    • Attends to specific sequences associated with the preparation and collation of contract documentation.
    • Monitors compliance with terms and conditions during the execution of specific minor Engineering contracts.

     
    Essential Requirements    

    • National Diploma plus registration as a Candidate Technician with the Engineering Council of South Africa within 3 months of employment; plus Internal Assessment.

    Senior Administration Officer

    Job Purpose    

    • Assists the Manager (Administration) by developing and implementing Departmental Administration Codes of Practice, Policies and Procedures. 

    Key Responsibility Areas    

    • Provides an administration service to the Unit.
    • Supervision and control of staff.
    • Manages all buildings where the Housing Unit is based.
    • Control and manage the Housing motor vehicle fleet.
    • Analysis of telephone printouts and advise relevant Managers where necessary.

    Senior Controller

    Job Purpose    

    • To supervise, on behalf of various service providers within eThekwini Municipality, the credit situation regarding outstanding payments of consumer accounts for municipal services rendered.

    Key Responsibility Areas    

    • Supervises the work process flow and staff.
    • Refers unresolved disputes on accounts to relevant departments.
    • Participates in team-based problem solving.
    • Authorise the following transactions, non action of printed disconnections, re-connections, adjustments, "Arrangements to Pay" vouchers and name change on accounts.
    • Prepares and interprets reports and statistics.
    • Addresses queries which are of a more complex nature.
    • Motivates for system changes / improvements.
    • Authorises the removal of red listed debtors from Credit Bureau data-base.
    • Attends court proceedings to provide evidence.
    • Provides legal departments with further particulars for defended matters.
    • Scrutinises all suspended accounts in order to collect debts from previous owners.
    • Reviews all applications for extended payment periods i.r.o. overdue accounts.
    • Obtains personal sureties or guarantees from directors, members or owners of business to ensure that debts are adequately covered.
    • Monitors the reviewal of security held for all business accounts.
    • Submits for approval all applications in excess of stipulated amount to the accountant or manager.
