    Group Climate Change & Nature Principal

    Role Details

    Gold Fields is currently seeking a Group Climate Change and Nature Principal to join the Group Sustainable Development team. Reporting to the Vice President Climate Change and Environment, this role is responsible for providing input into the development of the Group climate change and nature strategies, policies and programmes that promote sustainable development throughout the mining lifecycle.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Provide input into the development of the group and regional climate change and nature strategies by anticipating issues, challenges, and risks. Support their integration into the global business
    • Responsible for the update and roll-out of group policies and guidelines aligned to the group strategy. Provide administrative and leadership support to the Climate Change Steering Committee
    • Keep abreast of regulatory and industry trends in climate change and nature to guide responses to address these trends, as well as participate in relevant industry working groups
    • Assist the regions on key technical matters related to climate change and nature and facilitate regional dialogues and knowledge sharing
    • Identify climate change and nature risks and opportunities and lead and co-ordinate efforts to mitigate and optimise them
    • Monitor and report quarterly and annual performance against the group energy and climate change and nature performance requirements. Keep abreast of and adopt latest innovations, systems, and technologies pertaining to data management to enable the provision of data integrity, accuracy, and efficiency.
    • Quality control and technical review of regional climate change and nature reporting to the executive and the Board Safety, Health and Sustainable Development (SH&SD) Committee

    Key factors to your success include:

    • Honours degree in environmental science or a related sustainable development field
    • A proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity.
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in climate change and/or nature
    • Knowledge of environmental management key issues and best practices
    • Experience in climate change systems and nature - standards, policies and procedures, internal and external reporting, risk and impact identification and management, KPIs and management dashboard
    • Broad and in-depth experience in areas of environmental management, particularly climate change and nature, including environmental impact assessment, operations, project evaluation and M&A
    • Experience in collaborating with other functions to integrate climate change and nature into business management systems and processes

    Group Social Performance Principal

    Role Details

    Gold Fields is currently seeking a Group Social Performance Principal to join the Group Sustainable Development team. Reporting to the Vice President Social Performance, this role is responsible for providing input into the development of the Group’s Social Performance and Sustainable Development (SD)-related stakeholder relations vision, policy and strategy.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Provide input into the development of the Group’s Social Performance strategy by anticipating issues, challenges, and risks
    • Provide input into the development of social targets, standards, systems, reporting, performance tracking, assurance and change management to facilitate the delivery of the strategy
    • Support Social Performance with a collaborative and multifunctional approach

    • A proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity.

    • Knowledge of Social Performance key issues and best practices

    Trackless LHD Operator

    The Trackless LHD Operator is accountable for the safe operating of the LHD ensuring compliance with established daily production targets as assigned i.e. Longhole stopes, Development ends, etc.  The LHD operator is responsible for ensuring optimal care when operating the vehicle and to especially monitor and attend to roadways that may compromise tyre life.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Matriculated or Equivalent
    • LHD (LH 514) Certificate
    • At least 2 years’ experience as a LHD Operator
    • Dover A result
    • Drivers licence
    • Secure full Gold Fields Security and Related Occupational Screening
    • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

    Key Competencies:

    • Established personal safety delivery record
    • Strong inter and intra-team collaboration skills
    • Sound spoken and written English communication skills
    • Completion of a machine appreciation awareness programme (O4R/M4R or equivalent)
    • Ability to cope with ambiguity with high personal resilience and change adaptability
    • Established problem-solving skills

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Maintains Safety, Health and Environmental practices according to standards and procedures
    • Does a pre-use inspection on this equipment by means of a checklist and report deficiencies to supervisor
    • Performs basic maintenance on equipment e.g., top up engine oil-, water- and hydraulic oil, check for oil leaks and clean equipment according to standards and procedures
    • Performs end of shift procedures according to standards and procedures e.g., parks the LHD at the designated area, cleans equipment and reports to supervisor
    • Performs any other activities necessary for the effective completion of his/her work
    • Loading longhole stopes, development ends & ensuring roadway conditions were loading is levelled out to prevent tyre damages

    Underground Fitter

    The underground Fitter is accountable for the installation and maintenance on Rail Bound Equipment (RBE), related underground infrastructure and fixed plant equipment such as Bulk air coolers, and pipe networks.  The incumbent delivers scheduled and unscheduled tasks as assigned to ensure safe and optimal Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).  A core accountability of the role is to maintain the highest possible safety standards in area of operation and influence.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12/N3 or equivalent
    • Fitter trade certificate
    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Fitter on Hydraulics / Pneumatic systems and Battery Loco Maintenance in an underground Horizontal Logistics environment
    • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

    Key Competencies:

    • Proven track record in safety leadership
    • Proven interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills
    • Independent, proactive thinker and ability to schedule and deliver work within tight deadlines
    • Proficient in maintaining underground pumping/dewatering systems, cooling systems, as well as all relevant safety devices
    • Proficient fault finding on hydraulic and pneumatic systems
    • Proven track record of production achievements

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ensure health and safety of self and team members by applying relevant standards and procedures in all planning and execution of maintenance activities
    • Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, and Company standards
    • Contribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation, health, safety, environmental, security policies, and procedures, and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion
    • Maintenance activities on horizontal equipment includes new era locomotives, skid steer loaders, hydraulic tip infrastructures, hydraulic box front infrastructures, bulk air cooler systems, dirty water dams and pumping assemblies, vertical spindle pumps and pipe network
    • Promote and develop team work to become an affective team member
    • Ensure that condition monitoring of equipment, scheduled and planned maintenance are conducted effectively
    • Timely response to breakdown management, conduct appropriate root cause analysis and diagnosis
    •  Conduct expansions and construction of new equipment or installations as per works order
    • Identify spares requirements and book against the maintenance defect log system
    • Work overtime, standby and be available for callouts should the need arise

    Trackless Crew Leader

    The Trackless Crew Leader is accountable for executing the safe and efficient delivery of assigned monthly production plan, leading operational teams to achieve prescribed safely goals and ensuring quality delivery according to operational standards.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Matriculated or Equivalent with a recognized Blasting Certificate.
    • At least 5 years’ production experience in a deep level trackless mine with relevant TM3 equipment/machinery certificates

    • Taking accountability for proper discipline in the section
