    Digital Marketing Manager

    Background: 

    To deliver custom engineered, severe duty vocational trucks, Autocar LLC has always focused on the unique needs of our customers and sought engineering excellence as a differentiator. With the customer at the heart of all we do, the engineering teams ensure every truck is custom engineered for a lifetime of severe duty. Given this engineering background, immersing yourself into a large amount of automotive technical content will be required so that a thorough understanding of the business environment is set. It is imperative that Autocar is perceived as a thought leader on all digital content made public.

    Anyone entering this role must have a detail orientation and be comfortable with working through large amounts of technical attributes to ensure an accurate reflection of the facts. Importantly, the strategy, management and output of this role must be creative, intelligent, and efficient to relay our product prowess in the most compelling way possible.

    The Role: 

    • We are looking for the best and brightest to join our growing marketing team. This position is a new role and will be based in our Cape Town (South Africa) office. You will be supported by a small team of highly committed, creative and passionate marketing colleagues in a rapidly growing business seeking a step change in awareness/impact of the Autocar brand.
    • Responsibilities for this role include the strategic planning, operational management, fiscal management, and implementation (to some degree outsourced to Agency 99c in CT) for the digital marketing capability of the Autocar Truck Brand.

    DETAILED SUBJECT MATTER:

    Required Capability:

    • Ability to drive the implementation and management of a Marketing Automation Software Tool such as Customer.IO.
    • Drive the development of the annual digital marketing strategy and the presentation/approval thereof, ensure alignment to corporate strategy.
    • Develop, implement, and lead effective digital marketing plan that will achieve marketing’s set objectives and key results (OKRs) based on sound research and insights.
    • Take responsibility for the delivery of the Monthly Digital Marketing Report based on variance to OKR’s.
    • Fiscal planning, management and reporting on Digital Marketing Budgets.
    • Work to understand industry, customer, and platform data to inform the social media, website, organic/paid media strategic direction.
    • Ensure that messages across all digital platforms are consistent and aligned to the company brand and set us apart from the competition. 
    • Ensure investment levels per platform are based on sound research and agreed strategy.
    • Develop custom target audiences/personas for the brand and three vocational markets.
    • Work together with the Agency (99c and other) and internal colleagues to generate, plan, and post all content for various digital and social media platforms.
    • Research the competitive environment as well as customer perception and leverage insights to guide the digital strategy.
    • Assist in timely response to enquiries on the various platforms as required.
    • Liaise with Aculocity for maintenance and changes to company websites as required.
    • Be actively involved in Search Engine Optimization efforts.
    • Pro-actively monitor the performance of digital channels and marketing strategies.
    • The role is not limited to the above subject matter, an important success factor will be the development, onboarding, and implementation of innovative technology to grow the Autocar Brand through its digital presence.

    ENVIRONMENT:

    • Based in our Cape Town office in Durbanville, this is predominantly an engineering environment that is output driven and not a typical advertising agency environment. There are three other marketing staff in the team: two based in the US and one in Cape Town.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND VALUES:

    Current Product Engineer-Powertrain

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Equivalent
    • 3-5 Years of engineering experience
    • A thorough working knowledge of 3D-CAD systems preferably Unigraphics.
    • PDM systems preferably Siemens Teamcenter preferred
    • Willing to relocate to the USA
    • Willing to travel overseas for variable periods
    • South African Citizenship

    Job Description:

    • Product development direction and support from project initiation to regular production for the Powertrain and Powertrain systems.
    • Product sustainment and improvement throughout the product life cycle in support of the Autocar brand, product strategy & objectives and customer experience. 
    • Ongoing hands-on production line support, including troubleshooting and resolution of engineering-related assembly and other issues in support of on-time delivery to customers.
    • Liaison between customers, suppliers, production, process engineering-, and development teams by applying product and process expertise to support regular production and implementation of new systems. 
    • Responsible for all engineering liaison, validation, and testing activities

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Provide design direction, including technical specifications and requirements, to on- and offshore engineering resources for the Powertrain and Powertrain systems including (subject systems) for heavy/severe duty trucks following best engineering practices.
    • Contribute to product improvements, new features or options development and product portfolio growth initiatives for subject systems throughout the product lifecycle.
    • Support product planning initiatives.
    • Keep abreast of and advise the engineering team on industry trends & new technologies related to the Powertrain and Powertrain systems.
    • Manage 3rd party providers such as suppliers and development teams/consultants as it relates to the subject systems’ design, development, and ongoing product support & improvements.
    • Lead and/or support project status reviews, design reviews, design analysis activities such as DFMEA’s, product integrity initiatives and production readiness reviews.
    • Create, maintain, and file design intent & history documentation including testing and validation.
    • Engage & align with engineering peers across vehicle systems and other platforms in the interest of interface control and commonality.
    • Identify opportunities and support continuous improvement to promote engineering quality during the product development & release management process.
    • Provide day-to-day support of cross-functional teams such as Sales, Service, Warranty, Parts, Purchasing, Materials, Productivity Engineering and Program Management to align goals and expectations.
    • Perform and or support online and offline validation and testing of new designs and provide feedback to the design team.
    • Provide hands-on engineering support to resolve day-to-day assembly line issues.
    • Ensure deviations and substitutions are implemented as required.
    • Support the Product Integrity Team with issue resolution.
    • Interact with customers as required, including product support at customer locations.
    • Provide engineering support relating to compliance and regulatory matters, including participating in industry standards forums/events if required.

    Skills:

    • Strong analytical and technical skills to understand business practices.

    • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
