    Admin Assistant: Sales (Fixed Term Contract)

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Must be in possession of a valid Matric certificate/SAQA equivalent qualification,
    • Minimum 2 years experience working within the sales and marketing media departments;
    • Minimum 1 years experience working with SAP,

    Deputy Multimedia Editor (Johannesburg Or Cape Town)

    The deputy multimedia editor will assist with running the daily operations of News24's video and audio department. This includes but is not limited to planning a news diary, assigning stories and checking video and audio edits for quality and accuracy. Strong writing and sub-editing skills; you will be subbing copy, voiceover scripts, subtitles, headlines and captions.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Manage the video and audio diary to ensure that deadlines are met
    • Rigorous quality control and detailed feedback on edits, ensuring the quality of video and audio outputs are of industry standard
    • Provide editorial guidance to the team in line with the press code
    • Monitor local and international news sources to identify stories for News24
    • Oversee special projects, namely documentaries and narrative podcasts 
    • Plan and organise live events both on audio and video platforms
    • Facilitate collaboration across News24's sections/verticals
    • Manage News24's video and audio studios, including bookings, access and equipment maintenance
    • Facilitate training and/or upskilling opportunities with team members

    Role requirements and qualification:

    • Relevant tertiary qualification in journalism/media studies.
    • 5+ years' experience with audio and video in a newsroom
    • Experience managing teams and/or projects
    • Advanced knowledge and skill with the Adobe Suite, especially Premiere Pro, Audition and Photoshop
    • Be able to work nights and weekends when required
    • Ability to work independently: a leader who doesn't need to be micromanaged
    • Valid driver's licence

    Content Development Assistant (VIA AFRIKA)

    Key responsibilities

    The Content Development Assistant maintains the administrative processes of the division:

    • General Assistant duties
    • Administrative tasks ranging from working with Excel budgets and processes invoices to correspondence with authors and suppliers
    • Research on request of Content Development Managers
    • Quality assurance of developed materials including proofreading and copy-editing

    Minimum qualifications and experience

    • A degree with a major in an African language (non-negotiable)
    • A publishing degree would be advantageous
    • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365 apps (Word; Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) (a proficiency test will be conducted)
    • Very good knowledge of internet research techniques
    • Excellent knowledge and experience working in OneDrive, Google Drive and using WeTransfer.

    • Ability to develop skills in new software in a self-directed manner after training
    • Ability to work confidently with a variety of stakeholders
