    Digital Content Editor - JHB, CPT

    Job Description

    The Digital Content Editor will develop Old Mutual Limited's web, email, social, and mobile presence through digital content that aligns with Old Mutual Limited’s strategies, products, and segments.
    This is a hands-on role that requires strong digital editing and copywriting expertise with knowledge of social and content writing and financial nuances within a Pan-African context.
    The ability to work within a multidisciplinary agile team that delivers content that engages with our primary audiences in South Africa is key to success in this position.

     

     

    The perfect candidate will keep an eye on changes to the media landscape that will influence concepts and make projects innovative and fresh.
    A professional outlook is required to handle any copy amendments requested by the team and Marketing head, and meticulous research skills will ensure all copy is accurate and factual.
    You will need to create eye-catching headlines and copy for product and business, financial articles, web banners, infographics, animations, and interviews as well as research themes and topics, and expertly craft their content ideas for coherent consumer experiences.

    Throughout the process, content writers work closely with the marketing team for Old Mutual Rewards and Smart Goals. UX, UI, and development teams, and business units within multiple countries on the African continent to unpack new content ideas for engaging with the various audiences. Drive the content aspect of consumer and market research and discover what kinds of content their customers want to see in each respective country.

    Role Description & Key Result Areas:

    • Collaborate with the marketing team of Old Mutual Rewards and Smart Goals, as well as agile delivery teams in the conceptual development of original content for web, app, SMS, WhatsApp, SEM, social, and email.
    • Create engaging stories for on-site/page storytelling.
    • Researching industry-related topics (combining online sources, interviews, and studies).
    • Manage and drive video production for interviews and stories where needed.
    • Develop sales content articulating financial products in a consumer-friendly way.
    • Generating ideas for new content types identifying customers’ needs and gaps in our content and recommending new topics.
    • Analyse content engagement and lead metrics and provide continuous improvement and iterations as needed.
    • Collaborate with other disciplines and streams to create innovative content ideas appropriate to the business units.
    • In coordination with the publishing team, ensure articles are added to the website with appropriate and necessary graphics using ContentStack.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Matric Certificate, and a relevant degree or diploma in journalism or creative writing.
    • 5 years of digital content writing experience with a record of achieving results.
    • Strong visual and aesthetic sense to accompany your copy, with a broad understanding of photo and videography principles for mobile-first content that drives engagement and builds audiences.
    • A well-rounded portfolio that showcases an on-brand literary tonality and voice that lends well to a range of audiences
    • Understanding of storytelling and what makes an engaging story.
    • Ability to work at speed in a fast turnaround environment, without sacrificing quality of content.
    • Experience with CMS’, social, and digital ad production platforms.
    • Strong working knowledge of SEO is required along with working knowledge of Google Search Console.
    • You need to be on trend with all global content best practices / Internet Savvy/ affair with popular culture.

    Product Manager (Digital Channel Platforms) - JHB, CPT/, Durban

    Key Focus Areas

    The Product Manager will be required to oversee all aspects of the product life cycle, from research and analysis to the creation of a roadmap, while acting on feedback and data analysis to constantly improve customer experience and the product/service to, driving commercialisation and growth of products/channels.

    The Product Manager will also drive the process of developing solutions, executing market releases, and managing the product or service across all digital channels. The Product Owner is accountable for the digital solution and will work with cross-functional teams to ensure that a product or service meets consumer needs and achieves the agreed business benefits and outcomes.

    Key Result Areas

    • The Product Manager works with the teams in an Agile environment to translate features into stories, including agreed acceptance criteria, business benefits and measurable outcomes.

    • Prioritising requirements based on business benefits and managing the product backlog, including backlog refinement.

    • Contributing to the vision and strategy. While this is mainly the Product Manager’s responsibility, the Product manager will be required to provide input.

    • Redefines internal customer experiences by improving the effectiveness and accuracy of visualized data in capturing critical insights from business data through harnessing natural language processing abilities, AI and machine learning.
    • Overall, good data visualization should simplify data. It should make analytical tasks, such as making comparisons or understanding causality, providing insights into a data set, exposing and recognizing patterns or relationships easier and more effective. The best uses of data visualization will have a balance between form and function. This meaning the visual representation of data should not only be visually attractive, but also informative. 

    Qualifications and requirements:

    • Degree /3 year Diploma in Graphic Design/ Data Science, Statistics
    • Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in a data visualisation role in an Analytics or Data Science team
    • Experience in Data Visualisation software (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik etc.) 
    • Experience in MS Office suite (such as PowerPoint) and design tools (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Piktochart)
    • Demonstrated experience in modern visualisation tools and techniques with a portfolio of examples
    • A grasp of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles is important for creating user-friendly and intuitive dashboards and interfaces
    • Familiarity with financial products that allows for the creation visualizations that are contextually relevant.
    • Understanding of basic statistical concepts to choose appropriate visualization techniques and accurately represent data
    • The ability to interpret data accurately and extract meaningful insights .
