    Office Manager South Africa

    About the Role

    Your role will be essential to our South African employees, as your responsibility will be to ensure that our offices run smoothly & provide great working environment!

    Your main tasks:

    • Engage and collaborate with local and regional management and act as a primary contact for daily operations.
    • Responsible for the implementation of CRE strategic direction within South Africa & Ivory Coast
    • Ensure optimal utilization of the infrastructure with regards to workplace and workplace related services.
    • Prepare and monitor the location (s) operating budget
    • Vendor Management and monitoring the set KPI's for the delivery of the contracted services
    • Project Management – required involvement in CRE moves, renovations, build and operations

    Reporting and Tax Specialist - JHB

    About the role:

    Imagine a role where you can utilise your strong finance and tax knowledge in a leading re/insurance company on the market, allowing you to grow further in a role with a lot of independence, and reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. You will be involved in reporting and analyses across multiple valuation bases ((IFRS, US GAAP, SAM ) and also take responsibility for tax compliance and advisory.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Leading and maintaining all tax calculations, submissions (Income Tax, Dividends Tax, VAT, etc) and advisory services.
    • Researching tax laws, particularly those governing insurance companies.
    • Completion of tax audits, if required, by relevant tax authorities.
    • Preparing quarterly and annual financial and regulatory reporting.
    • Preparing analyses for senior management and other key stakeholders.
    • Working closely together with business and Group to ensure IFRS requirements are accurately addressed and implemented
    • Support Capital management, Cost management, and Treasury activities
    • Ad-hoc project involvement

    About you:

    Bringing problem solving, interpersonal and analytical skills, this role will be a perfect fit for you. We also need:

    • University degree in the field of finance or accounting
    • Minimum 2 years of working experience in a tax function plus at least 3 years accounting experience (including articles)
    • Solid understanding of Tax and VAT principles / legislation
    • Solid understanding of IFRS and local regulatory principles (e.g. SAM)
    • IFRS 17 knowledge and/or experience is preferable
    • Insurance background is preferable
    • CA (SA) qualification is preferable

    Corporate Real Estate and Services (CRES) Trainee - JHB

    About the role
    We offer a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate with an exceptional academic record in our Swiss Re Africa Corporate Real Estate and Services division based in Johannesburg. The role will allow you to gain insight into the maintenance and operation of all building operating systems, property management, project management and supporting the team with putting together long-term preventative maintenance programs. This role will allow you to support a high performing local team and be exposed to a broader global CRES community, to learn best practice and evolve your operational/technical skills.

    Specific responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:

    • Facility Management
    • Support in managing internal Ticketing tool
    • Technical Conference support and meeting room set-up
    • Perform general maintenance/repairs and oversee contractor requirements
    • Liaise with vendors to plan infrastructure servicing requirements
    • Maintain Access Control system and compile monthly reports
    • Ensure all permits, licences and inspections are current and properly documented
    • Co-ordinate courier requirements for local, import and export items
    • Support the local Archiving requirements
    • Maintain and update CRES vendor agreements and service level agreements
    • Support with Safety & Security related tasks
    • Perform Health & Safety Building checks
    • Prepare & Process invoices for payment

    About You

    • Minimum, tertiary qualification but not limited to qualification in Facility/Building Management, Workspace / Design Management, Operations Management
    • 12 months work experience or completed previous internship required, preferably in technology, administration, operations, building management and vendor management.

    Senior Finance Specialist

    About the Role

    Swiss Re has established its P&C direct insurance subsidiary in South Africa with the aspiration to expand its commercial business in the region. This is a pivotal time to join us as the company develops and builds up its capabilities! Integrated into a dynamic team, Senior Finance Specialist will report into the Chief Financial Officer and work with finance colleagues within the Swiss Re Group regionally and globally, as well as interacting with South African external stakeholders. There will be potential to develop and expand the role.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Coordination and preparation of all Local Financial and Regulatory reporting (including AFS and SAM QRT's) on an IFRS 17 basis
    • Preparation of the finance reports for the Board, Audit Committee and Management Committee meetings
    • Support with the annual planning process
    • Monitoring of operating expenses as compared to the plan and forecast
    • Support the CFO with the functioning of an adequate internal control environment
    • Engage with the external auditors for the sign-off of the annual financial statements and annual SAM QRT's
    • Project support on an ad-hoc basis including with the Group IFRS 17 program

    About You

    We are looking for an open-minded, credible and enthusiastic team player who can constructively and respectfully engage in challenging conversations with and agile, proactive and pragmatic approach to problem identification and solution. Are you at ease with leaving the comfort zone and performing under pressure with:

    • Qualified / Chartered Accountant South Africa or equivalent qualification
    • Strong expertise in South African Insurance Reporting requirements including IFRS, Prudential Authority (SAM) and SARB reporting requirements
    • A minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience (post articles) in a South African insurance legal entity, with financial accounting and reporting experience
    • Strong focus on improving the control environment and continuous improvement of processes
    • 'Tech savvy' – the ability to embrace and harness systems, tools and technology to achieve goals
    • Demonstrates high performance, takes personal accountability for areas of responsibility and ability to work under tight deadlines and with multiple stakeholders
