    Professional Nurse - Aeroton

    Key performance areas

    • Perform study related duties as specified by the protocol.
    • Complete the case report forms.
    • Assist with obtaining informed consent from study participants.
    • Perform voluntary HIV counselling and testing including rapid fingerpick testing as per protocol.
    • Assist with follow-up of participants who fail to attend their study visits.
    • Conduct home visit if required.
    • Ensure that all (blood, urine and sputum) specimens are taken to the laboratory and that it reaches the laboratory
    • timeously.
    • Ensure laboratory results are tracked, received and signed by the Investigator/s.
    • Ensure that each signed laboratory results filed correctly in its respective participant binder.
    • Explain the use and maintenance of diary cards (paper and electronic) and reconcile the written/captured solicited
    • symptoms versus verbal data.
    • Provide direct clinical care and treatment oversight to the study participants including family planning and administration of
    • STI treatment.
    • Attend and resolve queries that are generated by data management staff.
    • Attend to all the DCF (Data Clarification Forms) timeously as they are raised by the laboratory and ensure all the amended
    • results are filed correctly.
    • Record and maintain a complete inventory record of all kits received and ensure laboratory kits are always available on
    • site.
    • Maintain and monitor the Emergency Trolley.
    • Record/maintain temperature records of areas where kits and Emergency Trolley is stored.
    • Communicate routinely as needed to the Study Coordinator, Team Coordinator and investigators regarding clinical
    • management of subjects.

    Required minimum education and training

    • Grade 12.
    • Qualified as a Professional Nurse.
    • Computer literacy (Outlook, Microsoft Excel and word - moderate).

    Professional body registration

    • Registered with the South African Nursing Council.

    Required minimum work experience

    • 1-2 years working in a clinical environment.
    • Phlebotomy experience.
    • A valid driver’s licence, as candidate will be required to collect participants from their home or conduct a home visit.
    • Work in a stressful environment.
    • Work after hours and weekends if required.
    • Oversee/manage and train junior team members.
    • Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities
    • HIV and VCT experience.
    • Valid GCP.
    • Experience on vaccine or HIV prevention clinical trials will be advantageous.
    • Empathy and Understanding to participants.
    • Ability to speak in local languages

    Recruiter (X2)

    Key performance areas

    • Create Recruitment strategies in conjunction with line management in order to target and secure participant
    • targets for each project.
    • Schedule dates and target various hot spots to canvass, section house areas.
    • Actively engage with Project Managers of other PHRU projects to assess for cross referrals to/ from other
    • projects.
    • Complete recruitment Log by patient – manual and electronic, as per project requirements.
    • Give insight to the project either verbally on the job, or offer the presentation of the project.
    • Participate in the completion of the Informed consent forms (if protocol allows) ensuring GCP is adhered to at
    • all times.
    • Inform the participants of the project requirements.
    • Facilitate questions as required.
    • Check list of enrolled participants and highlight all deviants from within window period.
    • Update info on the electronic and manual log.
    • Confirm visits via telephone and SMS, as agreed with line management.
    • Note all interactions on retention log.
    • Reconciliation of those visited and those still not in attendance.
    • Facilitate the dynamics if psycho social needs are the obstruction.
    • Update the chat note on a daily basis.
    • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly reports are submitted timeously as required.
    • Take ownership and accountability for tasks & activities and demonstrates effective self-management.
    • Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately
    • maintained. ·
    • Inform relevant parties in the event of tasks or deadlines not met and provides appropriate means of resolution

    Required minimum education and training

    • Matric.
    • HIV Management course an advantage, counselling course specific to role (if required).
    • Good understanding of English – writing, reading and speaking.
    • Ability to read, write and speak at least another two languages.
    • Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities
    • Clinical Trial and general Project Management exposure/ experience.
    • Time Management.
    • Ability to engage with people at all levels, working in the community, ability to influence people – recruiting.
    • High level of interpersonal skills required.
    • Meet with various stakeholders: CBO, NGO etc, Dynamic person – ability to relate at all levels, high level of
    • listening skills.
    • Strong empathy required.
    • Some knowledge of Psycho Social referrals required.

    Required minimum work experience

    • A minimum of one year working experience an advantage within an administration, counselling role
