    Director, Area Marketing

    Organizational Structure

    This role will report directly to the South Africa Division President and will have 2 direct reports. The incumbent has a functional reporting line into the MEA Head for Marketing based in Dubai.

    Major Accountabilities

    • Develop Country Marketing Strategies and plans in collaboration with the Division President.
    • Coordinate the team of marketing managers to provide a disciplined market intelligence approach to identify key trends based upon consumer insights and customers needs and priorities
    • Uncover the consumer insights to inform development of a unique selling proposition and advertisable competitive claims that will create a sustained and differentiated competitive advantage for MasterCard
    • Optimize budget allocation based on key country priorities and ROI
    • Increase campaign effectiveness by tracking campaign results through post test objectives in brief to agencies and evaluate agencies also based on post test results.
    • Execute against the Consumer-Led Strategy (CLS) and segmentation to increase laser sharp and focused targeting.
    • Develop a segment insights-led culture. Optimize marketing, sponsorship and media mix in accordance with consumer-led strategy, target segments and geographic concentration (cities strategy)
    • Ensure smooth implementation of marketing plans by working in full coordination with agencies and sales team.
    • Managing agency partners to ensure good account servicing, quality of creative, meeting briefs and timely delivery.
    • Effectively lead and develop his team to ensure high-performance, consistency and efficiency in delivering results through great teamwork.

    Skills And Experience

    • Experiences in CPG, Technology and/or Financial Services Industry with concentration on Marketing is preferred.
    • Deep understanding of MasterCard business model
    • Strong Interpersonal and Influencing skills
    • Proven strategic capabilities that have generated competitive advantage/differentiation
    • Agency Management Experience
    • Strong people management and leadership skills
    • Implementation skills
    • BA or Advanced Degree in Business Administration and/or Marketing
    • Demonstrated use of effective financial, analytical, organizational and project management skills
    • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
    • Demonstrated success in developing and executing new products and marketing strategies
    • Ability to successfully interact within cross-functional and/or matrix organizations
    • Understanding of financial analysis (i.e., profit calculations, ROI, etc.)
    • Strategic planning experience
    • Strong communication and presentation skills (verbal and written) including experience delivering business presentations and management reports to leadership audiences.
    • Fluent in English
