    Senior PI T&C Engineering Technician

    THE PURPOSE OF THE SENIOR T&C ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN ROLE IS TO:

    As a Senior T&C Engineering Technician, you will be expected to carry out the testing of trains in accordance with the test procedure and as per the delivery schedule while monitoring and ensuring compliance of the subcontractor of T&C Work Package commitments and EHS requirements for the given project. In addition, you will lead the PI T&C team in Durban.

    THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITY WILL BE (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

    • To manage PI warranty material  used during T&C activities
    • To ensure QG6 is carried out by TE and/or Alstom testing staff to certify that locomotives are accepted in testing at the highest quality
    • To comply with project’s T&C commitments, acting as Work Package Owner, in compliance with the locomotive production process.
    • To capture and report non conformities and ensuring they are properly managed and closed, liaising with engineering, RAMS, manufacturing and site Quality
    • Ensure that contractor performs the required testing and commission as per the applicable SOP in order to meet the acceptance criteria and support locomotive handover.
    • Support Manufacturing, when required to carry out the systematic Hand Over to testing.
    • Ensure and check that all Serial Test Procedures are completed and verification of  test reports
    • Ensure that the documentation follows through to completion in terms of Car History Book updates/uploads
    • Participate in related meetings and engagements to ensure handover of locomotive as per MPS
    • Manage the repair of failures as soon as they appear through the contractor and ensure timeous completion as required while leading all fault finding or repairs that become the responsibility of the PI team from start to completion
    • Trace with precision and rigor each failure using the appropriate tools in a safe manner.
    • In case where faults cannot be resolved by yourself, ensure timeous escalation , escalate to the Services Manager to reduce downtime as much as possible
    • Ensure Interface and perfect working relationship with cross functional teams,  customers and any other stakeholders involve in the process
    • Report any non-up-to-date / none compliant testing tools to the manager.
    • If required, support with physically installations of components in the testing station
    • Compliance to Ethics and EHS rules and regulations at all time
    • Ensure that all required reporting happens on a monthly, weekly and daily basis.
    • Support with recurring fault investigations and develop solutions to address the problem.
    • Assist with fault finding using the available Locomotive system software diagnostic tools
    • Devises test procedures to evaluate system performance on locomotive systems and components through failure analysis
    • Participate and lead special project for improvement of competent, sub components and improvements on the locomotive
    • Support the service sites when necessary
    • To ensure Maximo work orders are raised for material changeouts

    The preferred candidate will meet the following requirements: 

    • B.Tech Engineer Qualification (Electrical / Electromechanical)
    • Minimum 8 years working experience in a electrical/electronic/pneumatic testing environment
    • Rolling Stock (Locomotive / train) experience will be an advantage
    • Railway safety & RAMS experience
    • Hands on Test & Commissioning, fault finding & repair experience
    • Proven track record of Data analytics experience
    • Experience in Industrial activities related to Electrical, Control, onboard communications & network systems within process industry, railways or factory automation
    • Be familiar with high risk activities in association with Electrical work and EHS requirements

    Intern Industrial Engineering - Durban (WIL)

    THE PURPOSE OF THE INTERN INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING ROLE IS TO:

    As an Intern, you will provide assistance to the function you are placed with and perform basic adhoc tasks to assist the team but also to fulfil your Work Integrated Learning requirements to obtain your qualification.

    Logistics Coordinator

    THE PURPOSE OF THE LOGISTIC COORDINATOR ROLE IS TO:

    Be in charge of executing physical flows of the goods (purchased and manufactured items): Incoming, Receipting, Put away, Storage, Picking and line feeding, packing, shipping, inventory management, materials handling. Your target is to align physical and systems flows.

    THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITY WILL BE:

    • Notify Warehouse Mgmt. of all safety, site keeping or maintenance issues that are found during inspection that require assistance
    • Execute Information system update & ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) transaction before each physical movement by using IT tools (mobile device) in place in your site to manage correctly the system flow
    • Know and use the ERP transactions to align physical and system flows and know the interactions between them
    • Detect, treat anomalies and know how to report those that cannot be resolved to their manager
    • Prioritize its activities according to emergencies (manage missing parts, …)
    • Apply rules in order to operate in an environment that complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies:
    • Know and follow all safety, environmental and emergency procedures
    • Respect the safety conditions to handle goods, trolleys etc.
    • Actively participate in all aspects of safety including reporting of near misses and meetings
    • Ensure the preservation of materials during the all processes (handling, storage, line feeding, NCR, shipment, ...)
    • Participate in the continuous improvement of the processes by being a force of proposal
    • Apply and respect the appropriate methodologies & processes
    • As and when required can be expected to perform logistic operator activities to support the production line including but not limited to packing and shipping, picking & line feeding, supporting and perform daily and monthly cycle counts, scraping after receiving management authorization according to best practices, capturing and performing goods receipt using ERP system 

    The preferred candidate will meet the following requirements: 

    • Higher Certificate/ Adv diploma in Supply Chain
    • Fluent in English
    • National travel might be required, therefor the candidate must be flexible and willing in this regard.
    • Experience of forklift driving (for forklift drivers only)
    • Knowledgeable of ERP SAP environment
    • Basics Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S
