    Actuarial Manager - Life

    Role Purpose    

    • Manage an actuarial team responsible for analytical analysis and capital modelling, to ensure financial stability of Guardrisk Life and its clients and lead modelling for the valuation of SAM compliant technical provisions.

    Requirements    

    • Fellow or Associate Actuary specialising in Life.
    • At least 6 years’ relevant work experience
    • At least 3 years’ management experience.
    • Advanced understanding of the components of SCR of a Life insurer as prescribed by the Prudential Standards. Cell captive specific experience will be an advantage.
    • Understanding of relevant legislation, i.e., Insurance Act, Prudential Standards and IFSR17.
    • Advanced understanding of discounted cash flow models, including reserving methods and liability valuation methods; Prophet software coding and model development is an imperative.

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Internal process

    • Provide analysis of results, engaging directly with auditors and responsible for the preparation of internal and external capital reporting material.
    • Establish and implement consistent processes and controls across the business, to ensure accurate reporting and risk management.
    • Accountability for developing and maintaining Prophet technical provisions modelling and capital models on cell clients allocated to the team.
    • Responsible for the team’s vetting of accounting data, asset data, reinsurance data and exposure data used for actuarial valuations.
    • Responsible for the delivery of the quantitative projections for the annual ORSA on cell clients allocated to the team.
    • Deliver annual, quarterly and monthly SCR analysis of Guardrisk Life and its cells in line with Group practices and policies.
    • Develop financial insights to proposed product developments and reinsurance arrangements.
    • Oversee dividend review and sign-ff processes.
    • Support business stakeholders with capital projections and plans for new business onboarding and sign-off.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, identifying and resolving any conflicting interests.
    • Drive change management through regulatory and technical developments.
    • Oversee continued automation of the SAM capital modelling infrastructure.

    Client

    • Build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
    • Contribute to sustaining a competitive edge through external networking and benchmarking and representation on related forums.
    • Engage with key internal and external stakeholders to identify changing client needs and make recommendations to align service offering with client needs.

    Competencies

    Claims Technician: Recoveries

    Role Purpose    

    • To manage a portfolio of liability claims and recoveries and to provide ad hoc technical advice to stakeholders.

    Requirements    

    • Matric/Grade 12
    • A law degree – preferable but not mandatory, subject to experience in Short-term insurance environment
    • 60 FAIS Credits
    • Computer literacy(MS Word, Outlook and Excel)
    • At least 5 years experience, some of which should be in a legal practice environment or insurance recovery & liability environment
    • Insurance qualification preferable
    • RE qualification
    • Intensive knowledge of liability claims and resulting litigation
    • Intensive knowledge of recoveries
    • Knowledge in administering and handling liability claims and recoveries

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Day to day reporting to the Team Leader
    • Handling recoveries in accordance with claims handling procedures
    • Facilitating and managing outsourced recoveries
    • Handling and settling claims within stipulated time frames and as per SLAs / mandates in place
    • Entering into settlement negotiations with third parties / third party representatives
    • Negotiating with motor assessors, attorneys, other service providers  
    • Providing technical advice on litigated matters
    • Providing clients / brokers with the highest standard of service
    • Providing clients / brokers with feedback on claims progress at all times
    • Ensuring diary system is implemented and adhered to at all times
    • Ensuring adherence to SLAs / mandates in place with regards to claims from mandated brokers
    • Rendering of assistance from time to time with ad hoc tasks

    Premium Administrator

    Role Purpose    

    • Ensuring that the principles and outcomes of TCF (Treating Customers Fairly) are practised and achieved in all duties performed and services provided to Admed customers.

    Requirements    

    • Matric 
    • Office administration or bookkeeping qualification (certificate / diploma)
    • At least 2 years’ premium administration or basic bookkeeping experience
    • At least 2 years MS Office experience (Outlook, Word, Excel)

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Processing of continuation forms on the Owls administration system and sending of policyholder documentation immediately;
    • Processing of policy termination instructions from members and corporates within 2 working days of receipt;
    • Assigning premium payments that has been uploaded daily;
    • Allocating of such payments and reconciling the payment against, the relevant corporate’s membership detail on Owls within 5 days of receipt;
    • Once each reconciliation is complete, immediately sending of billing statement to respective corporate client;
    • Performing credit control activities by regularly following up on outstanding premiums from corporate clients and timeously liaising with the appointed broker where necessary;
    • Reporting to the Premiums Manager on a regular basis in respect of inter alia premiums not received, unallocated deposits, reconciliation status, etc.;
    • Where required, processing of debit order application forms within 2 working days of receipt;
    • Processing membership and premium adjustments where required and within stipulated turnaround times.
    • Preparing of manual premium refunds where necessary and in accordance with stipulated turnaround times;
    • Liaising with customers in respect of premium and membership queries and complaints, with a view to investigating and solving such queries and complaints efficiently, to the client’s satisfaction;
    • Where capacity necessitates, providing support to the front office team for overflow work;
    • Ensuring that the principles of TCF are delivered across every function performed, with a specific focus on the achievement of TCF Outcome 6 (Customers do not face unreasonable post-sale barriers to change product, switch provider, submit a claim or make a complaint).

    Portfolio Data Insights Manager

    Role Purpose    

    • To provide support to the business through the development and maintenance of accurate information and the analysis of available information. 

    Requirements    

    • A Diploma/Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Commerce or similar.
    • At least 3 years' working experience in a similar role.

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Improve and develop the underwriting, claims and portfolio analytics and reporting.
    • Source information to model portfolio insights that will assist with UW and claims audit reviews as well as identifying portfolio growth and profitability performance trends.
    • Collect and convert underwriting and claims data into business intelligence information.
    • Continuously analysing risk data, key indicators, relationships and trends.
    • Develop new risk reports and standards based on the business requirements.
    • Prepare customised risk reports based on business portfolio requirements.
    • Develop or facilitate the development of reports on Neo to assist the claims and underwriting audit teams for identifying audit samples and monitoring and tracking of audit actions.
    • Develop management reporting for monthly management meetings.
    • Develop reporting for quarterly UMA portfolio meetings.
    • Continuously identify opportunities to automate reports and to eliminate duplicate and manual reporting.
    • Ensure the accuracy of data within the business and work with the BI Team and coordinate with the relevant portfolio relationship managers to ensure data quality improvement is addressed on the source policy administration systems (PAS).  
    • Ensure integrity checks are conducted on the data warehouse information that is provided to Guardrisk via the UMA’s and Broker Binders.
    • Ongoing cleaning of data and data hygiene exercises.
    • Educate teammates or various stakeholders where required on the reports and dashboards that are developed.
    • Engage with teammates on an ongoing basis to understand management/portfolio information requirements.
    • Engage with internal and external service providers and stakeholders.
