    Team Leader: Engineering - Delmas

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    To lead and supervise an engineering team to safely maintain plant equipment. To follow all prescribed maintenance and safety procedures. Good decision making when maintaining equipment or on breakdown repairs.  Control engineering spend by controlling spares taken from engineering stores by artisans by ensuring replacement spares are faulty and correct spares taken. To maintain a disciplined team in a professional manner and by creating good teamwork amongst the team members.

     

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

     

    • Lead and supervise a multi-disciplinary shift team to maintain plant equipment.
    • Lead daily inspection of mechanical and electrical equipment for faults and supervise. the repair or assist with the repair of faulty components.
    • Drive and maintain or exceed equipment availability of 97%.
    • Ensure All legal compliances and statutory requirements to be followed as per McCain policies and procedures.
    • Ensure that equipment is maintained to meet and exceed Original Equipment Manufacturers’ (OEM) requirements and production specifications.
    • Ensure that the team complies to food safety and safety practices.
    • Drive a zero-waste culture by   identifying   opportunities for cost saving/efficiency improvement and by implementing an improvement plan.
    • Monitor cost of spares used by team members.
    • Supervise employees to ensure that they achieve their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and are fully engaged.
    • Behavior observations to be completed on a monthly basis.
    • 5S’s in workshops to be completed daily.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • Red Seal Certificate as a Mechanical Fitter/ Millwright or equivalent.
    • N4 certificate in electro mechanics.
    • At least 5 years’ experience in multidisciplinary engineering environment within the food industry. (3 years supervisory experience will be advantageous).
    • Knowledge of conveyor systems.
    • Knowledge hydraulic and pneumatics systems.
    • Knowledge high and low pressure steam systems.
    • Knowledge of boiler systems.
    • Knowledge waste handling systems.
    • Knowledge of refrigeration systems.
    • Be able to make decisions when it comes to breakdowns in the plant.
    • Knowledge of food safety and quality
    • GMP compliance experience.
    • Good experience in problem solving.

    Dry Stores Controller - Delmas

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    To supervise, control and co-ordinate the Dry Stores in order to provide dry goods at the correct quality, quantity and to optimize productivity and outputs and to utilize the equipment in a safe and effective manner.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Supervise, and manage team.
    • Manage stock integrity (SAP & physically).
    • Oversee SAP system accuracy and timeous and accurate operational delivery requirements.
    • Apply good warehouse management principles in stores.
    • Monitor and control the use of all Dry Stores equipment and infrastructure.
    • Ensure safe and effective stacking and storage practices.
    • Drive safety culture in the team.
    • Time-keeping management for the team.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent.
    • Suitable tertiary qualification in Warehouse Management.
    • At least 3 years’ experience in Supply Chain FCMG warehouse control in a plant manufacturing FMCG food industry environment.
    • Proven experience should be in Inventory Management with strong focus on Operations, Inventory and Warehouse controls, equipment/ infrastructure maintenance, plant safety management.
    • High proficiency in SAP WMS with reporting and analytical skills.
    • Budget management.
    • Excellent Interpersonal skills.
    • Flexibility, people focused and strong problem-solving skills.

    Roguing Team Leader - Delmas

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    Lead the rogueing team on the fields, to ensure efficient operations and full utilization of potato crop at harvesting.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    • Supervise and lead roughing team on fields.
    • Maintain a safety conscious attitude among direct reports, minimization of all workplace incidents and accidents, and accurate and timely completion of all accident investigation reports
    • Overseeing of the recording program.
    • Oversee the cutting physiological age
    • Oversee the cutting of seed for bacteria testing.
    • Record seed data on the system – Receiving Purchase Loads for MSF.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Diploma or Degree in Agriculture or Agronomy (preference will be given).
    • Ideal candidate should have at least 1 year’ experience in Agriculture.
    • Knowledge of potato planting/harvesting
    • Knowledge of Agricultural practices.
    • Knowledge of potato harvesting operations.
    • Strong computer and systems capability.
    • Ability to supervise a team.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Valid Code 08  (EB) Driver’s License.

    Packaging Technologist - Delmas

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    The incumbent is responsible for design, standardization, implementation, and problem solving of all packaging related materials and equipment, commissioning of new packaging equipment. Guide Procurement, Marketing and Suppliers on new packaging materials and equipment for sustainability and cost savings. Maintaining specifications and Best Operating practices. Drive a safety first and zero waste culture and optimizing the use of packaging materials. Lead new technology projects and improvement/upgrade projects.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    Drive Packaging Safety:

    • Drive employee safety through Good Catch and Behavioral Observation System (BOS) program.
    • Work closely with Projects Engineering during projects for safety by design.

    Quality and Consistent Improvement Pipeline for Packaging:

    • Manage Supplier relations and supplier quality.
    • Guide and advise Research & Development (R&D), Procurement and Marketing on packaging changes and new product projects.
    • Manage non-conformance Report investigations and resolutions with plants and suppliers.

    Sustainable Cost Advantage (Cash Preservation in Packaging) by Driving Cost Saving Initiatives on Packaging Materials and Consumables:

    • Promote and support Best Operating practice to align with global procedures and practices.
    • Drive cost saving initiatives on packaging materials and consumables through trials on new packaging materials and guide procurement and manufacturing on changes and improvements.
    • Identify and roll out new packaging technologies to ensure costs are kept low and throughput is maintained/improved.

    Performance (Throughput Delivery sustainability):

    • Support Operator refreshment program.
    • Drive packing availability and pack rate in alignment with site Annual Operating Costs (AOC).
    • Assess packaging throughout the value chain to ensure compliance to customer specification and market.
    • Guide and advise R&D, Procurement and Marketing on new product trials to maintain plant standards and drive simplicity in the plants.

    Technical Services Support on projects:

    • Assist in operational design of capital projects.
    • Commissioning, qualification and verification of capital installs.
    • Consult on Global initiatives.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12 or Equivalent
    • Degree in Engineering or Technical related field.
    • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role, specifically from a frozen food manufacturing background.
    • At least 1 year experience in project management.
    • Strong analytical and technical reasoning skills
    • Knowledge of operating packaging equipment and understand packaging materials.
    • Strong verbal and written skills.
    • Experience in training and facilitation.
    • Knowledge of best practices.
    • Experience with start-up management concepts and equipment commissioning.
