    Key Responsibilities:

    Foreman Mechanical UG

    The Appointee should:

    • National N2 Certificate or higher with suitable mechanical background
    • Relevant valid Artisan Trade Certificate (Section 13 or Section 26D) with proof of formal learnership programme

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Survey services  Conducting surveys according to plan.  Planning, Leading, Completing Check Surveys and Associated Gyro Base Surveys.  Reporting on results, identifying deviations and recommending corrective action according to policies, guidelines and procedures.  Planning and scheduling resources required to meet Survey work output plans, as well as the necessary logistics to ensure the achievement of targets e.g. pro-active planning of team deployment, materials and equipment.  Maintaining appropriate administration, record keeping, reporting, control, and reconciliation systems in line with department’s requirements through the contribution of Survey activities (e.g. survey records, progress reports and measurements), interpretation of Survey data for production units improves mining compliance and standards and to enhance the detection and reporting of deviations from plan and metal accounting issues.     Shift Supervisor Production UG

    The Appointee should:

    • National Certificate Supervisor Operations (QCTO)
    • DMR Blasting Certificate (post 1 June 2017) or DMR recognised Mining Operations Level 2 (MQA) and Rock Breaker Level 3 (MQA).
    • Minimum of 3 years mining experience at the level of a Miner (Graduates with 6 months mining experience and 3 months Supervisory experience)
    • Medically fit to work in the specific business area
    • Clear security screening record.
    • Valid driver’s license (if applicable).

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Legal, operational and standard compliance. Application of legal, operational and standard compliance with regards to work, machinery and equipment inspections and the recording thereof as stipulated in section 2.15.1 of the Minerals Act  Inspection of ground conditions and face preparation and taking appropriate action in the event of non-compliance to legal and management specifics.  Inspection of temporary and permanent support installations and taking appropriate action in the event of non-compliance to legal and management specifics.  Inspection of machinery, equipment and safety devices and taking appropriate action in the event of non-compliance to legal and management specifics.  Inspection of barricades, barricading off back areas, hazardous areas and abandoned workings and taking appropriate action in the event of non-compliance to legal and management specifics.  Perform early and late shift examinations as specified.     Operator Rock Drill (No Assistant)

    Minimum Required Qualification:

    • Level 1: Grade 9 Certificate GET Services

    The Appointee should:

    • NQF 2 Elementary Certificate (Grade 10 or equivalent)
    • VTS Testing suitable grading
    • Certified competend as a Drill Rig Operator
    • Medically fit to work in the specific business area.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Drilling and Equipment maintenance  Effective rock drill operation at the development and stoping ends to achieve targets within set quality standards.  Effective drilling of equipment through drilling holes using drill steel equipped with a “knock-off bit”.  Effectively position and remove a drill carriage.  Ensure that all work conducted is performed to the required standards and specifications.  Ensure that the correct tools are used to complete tasks.  Install grouted support, rope anchors, rock bolts and mechanical props.  Ensure that equipment is always maintained to perform the job and not damaged.  Conduct basic maintenance activities on equipment. Administration and Reporting  Communicate any stumbling blocks for actions to be taken.  Ensure that any operational problem that is encountered is reported even if outside immediate area of responsibility.  Support team members whenever required. Drilling of face holes and/or support holes  Ensure holes are drilled to the correct depth and angle required by mining standards.  Ensure that roofbolt is installed as per mining standards.  Assist with charging up when required.  Assist with the face preparation including safety nets and props.
    • Stakeholder Relations  Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally.  Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.     Unit Manager Engineering

    The Appointee should:

    • Degree, National Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical
    • Junior Engineer Graduate Development Programme
    • Government Certificate of Competency – Mine Health & Safety Act 29 of 1996
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Engineering
    •  Medically fit to work in the specific business area.

    Advantageous Qualifications:

    • Level 7: Bachelors Degree and Advanced Diplomas Bachelor Degree Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology

    Additional Requirements:

    •  Registered as an Engineer to practice with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), Association of Mine Resident Engineers (AMRE) or relevant professional body would be advantageous.

    Key Responsibilities:

    •  Contribute to the development of the strategic mine plans and strategy.  Develop, implement and monitor engineering maintenance, risk and operational strategies and plans.  Support Asset Management specific standards, specifications and procedures.  Provide support in defining and implementing an engineering strategy at a large, complex operation, aligned with the operational and corporate strategy.  Identify, implement and manage policies, practices, systems and technologies.  Support and implement the Asset Management Strategy and Improvement Plans, adhering to the Sibanye-Stillwater Asset Management Framework.
    •  Oversee all engineering work for effective functioning and supporting mining operations.  Ensure compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices.  Support the development of critical spare parts lists using a structured maintenance systems methodology.  Participate in segment wide equipment tactics development and review of primary production equipment.  Support the development of Life Cycle Cost models for major equipment.  Provide support and guidance in the processes of analysing and improving across the operation with the view of identification of common cause events and elimination thereof.  Direct maintenance personnel to continuously evaluate compliance and strictly adhere to the established procedures, specifications and policies.  Prepare a monthly performance report (equipment performance, work management, reliability incidents KPI’s to identify developing trends).  Lead and/or participate in failure analysis/defect elimination techniques for cross functional teams.  Ensure that preventative actions are implemented to ensure cost-effective maintenance programs.  Drive strategic engineering programmes and projects in line with the Group’s policy.
    •  Manage, implement and contribute to continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives and projects for engineering processes.  Identify value-adding cost saving and optimisation opportunities in collaboration with other stakeholders (Supply Chain, HRD, Safety etc.) in support of continuous improvement.  Provide active oversight of continuous improvement programmes, best practice identification and sustainable implementation as per the asset management strategy.
    •  Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally.  Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.  Sourcing, contracting and negotiating with service providers.  Liaising with the necessary entities on any environmental management related requirements and alignment where applicable.  Collaborating with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes.  Managing the finances of the department at the specific operation to achieve Organisational objectives. Working Cost Budgets:  Set budgeting parameters for the department at the specific operation in line with business requirements and financial objectives.  Approving operational expenditure.  Assist in formulating monthly and annual working cost and capital budgets. Cost Savings:  Lead and drive cost saving and cash conservation initiatives.
