    Health and Safety Specialist

    Role purpose:

    • To provide support and consultation to Vodacom specific regions in relation to Health, Safety and Environmental issues as well as ensure that Vodacom SA retains system certification by meeting all Health & Safety KPI’s.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Define and implement a regional HSE plan
    • Initiate transformational drives within the region to move HSE ownership to employees
    • Coordinate visible leadership initiatives and track cultural changes on behaviour and attitude
    • Manage and update the HSE system with current information
    • Develop, empower and conduct safety inspections in line with a site supervision model
    • Train or facilitate the training of regional staff on HSE related statutory requirements
    • Drive the environmental strategy in the region through key stakeholders
    • Participate in internal and external audits as well as policy reviews and statutory enquiries
    • Identify high risk projects and ensure contractor compliance and project safety compliance prior to commencement
    • Project manage special HSE related projects including the task-group, project plan and take responsibility for the project deliverable
    • Provide specialist HSE support and consultation in the Region
    • Collate data and compile qualitative and quantitative reports aligned with Exco and board reports
    • Identify HSE risks, and methodically calculate risk to region. Identify and implement control plans to mitigate or manage the risk to an acceptable level
    • Drive standard and policy implementation in the region and review implementation effectiveness.
    • Create a sharing and learning platform to promote HSE awareness in the region
    • End to end HSE monitoring and control of Out Of Home (OOH) activities e.g. billboards.

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    • 3-5 years experience (Essential)
    • Matric and Degree/National Diploma in a Safety related field (Recommended) OR
    • Certificate in Environmental Management (Recommended) OR
    • A Completed NEBOSH/SAMTRAC Certificate

    Principal Specialist: Anti-Money Laundering

    Role purpose:

    • To ensure that the financial services businesses of Vodacom Group and its subsidiary companies are compliant with all applicable anti-money laundering laws (AML), regulations and rules; and all company policies, codes and standards; and to implement adequate systems and processes to monitor and ensure AML compliance and best practice.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Develop appropriate anti-money laundering compliance, risk, governance policies and frameworks to support the Anti-Money Laundering Program;
    • Research, analyse, interpret and advice on AML regulatory and technical information and laws;
    • Researching and writing policies and position papers on targeted technical AML issues;
    • Oversee, assure, monitor, review, train and assist on the implementation of the AML Program, for the mobile financial services business to ensure continuous improvement in compliance policies, processes and procedures;
    • Work across the Group (markets, M-Pesa Africa, Vodafone and Financial Services) for the implementation, oversight and support of AML Program;
    • Collate and analyse information from various sources in order to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal AML Program compliance controls across the markets including the use of data analytics, robotics and AI;
    • Regular review of the AML risk control matrixes and risks as a result of trigger events and advisory support and challenge on risk ratings, control and design effectiveness;
    • Provide end-to-end reporting and incident management support in an agile environment, support advising on AML Program related queries and developing pragmatic and compliant commercial solutions;
    • Stay up to date with developments in the AML legal, regulatory and governance environment and keep abreast of new policies and legislation as well as changes to existing AML legislation

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:
    Must have technical / professional qualifications:

    • LLB Degree or relevant Commercial Degree ;
    • Professional qualification in AML required;
    • Higher relevant degrees will be an advantageous;
    • Higher relevant specialist qualifications in e.g. risk or compliance management will be an advantage;
    • Comprehensive and specialist knowledge of financial services legislation in South Africa and on the continent;
    • Sound understanding of compliance and risk management principles.

    Desired experience:

    • Minimum of 8 years’ AML specialist experience in financial services with relevant compliance and risk management experience ;
    • Deep knowledge of Financial Services, Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-bribery and Financial Services legislation;
    • Telecommunications and mobile financial services experience will be advantageous;
    • Professional qualification in Compliance, Risk, Law, will be advantageous.

    Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

    • Significant experience in anti-money laundering in the Financial Services and mobile financial services industry including development, implementation and management of AML compliance and risk frameworks;
    • Ability to analyse, interpret and advice on anti-money laundering and financial crime regulatory and technical information and mobile financial service laws with ability to apply highly technical rules in a pragmatic and commercial manner;
    • Deep understanding of Compliance and Risk Management principles and application into the day to day activities;
    • Self-starter and self-motivated who is able to prioritise and manage multiple work streams;
    • Researching and writing policies and position papers on targeted AML technical issues;
    • Ability to present authoritatively to internal and external stakeholders to ensure appropriate protection of Vodacom’s interests, whilst concentrating on the issues that really matter.
    • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. Influencing, bridging and negotiating skills (verbal and written).

    Senior Specialist: Regional Data & Analytics

    Role purpose:

    • Represent their business function on the Data Governance Committee.
    • Involved in making business critical decisions about the data they own.
    • Responsible for data privacy and cyber security assessments.
    • Own the risk of sharing data outside of the organization.
    • Accountable for approving data retention and extensions if required.
    • Accountable for data quality for their business function.
    • Responsible to ensure that data is not duplicated in multiple environments creating ‘Shadow IT’
    • Responsible to ensure that D&A develops all standard scripts for performance KPIs to avoid ‘Shadow D&A

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Business Ownership: To clearly define product roadmaps outlining data and reporting requirements. And to partner with D&A at being the business owner of created data assets in a D&A & IT controlled common data platform
    • Month-end reporting & analytics: Central BI analyst responsible for the delivery of month end data as well as insights
    • BI Solutions: Partner with Qlik developers and solution architects to design transformational analytical solutions
    • Actionable Insights: Deliver daily and monthly insights from data models to support commercial action and financial steering
    • Portfolio Optimisation: Increase the penetration of D&A products within the Regions through portfolio reviews, effective stakeholder management and a decommission plan of sprawled reporting

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:
    Must have technical / professional qualifications:

    • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering or related field essential and
    • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience essential
    • Excellent knowledge of SQL and working with relational databases
    • Comfortable working with Agile as part of a high-performance diverse team across three geographies

    Core competencies, knowledge, experience:

    • Outstanding analytical skills and problem solving ability
    • Experience of working on complex data modelling projects to support strategic, financial and regulatory mandates
    • Advanced SQL skills including extensive experience querying large, complex data sets
    • Deep knowledge of Vodacom’s income statement structure in HFM and the supporting drivers of revenue and cost
    • Experience in working in visualisation tools like Qlik Sense or Qlik View
    • Experience of working with and presenting to senior leaders and executives with excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Capable of working under pressure, particularly for regulatory or month end reporting deadlines
    • Ability to work as a team with other BI professionals, with the desire to develop junior data analysts
