    Fix Term Shift Supervisor Mining (Drop Raise - Underground)

    Job Description

    This is a Fixed Term Contract appointment carrying a Legal accountability with a 2.15.1 appointment in terms of the Minerals Act and Regulations. Experience in Drop Raise Mining Method and S3 Longhole Drill Riggs is a perquisite and required.

    The focus for this role will be to:

    • Inspect all Haulages, T/ways, Battery bays, Timber bays and other excavations required and ensure record of such inspection and conduct a proper workplace early and late shift.
    • Examine the refuge bays in your section, sustainability, seating, first- aid equipment and communication system.
    • Planned Task Observation and ensure feedback is given to safety and training departments, inspect equipment and machinery to ensure that it is in working condition and compile list of equipment and machinery in use.
    • Lead a weekly safety meeting and ensure monthly physical condition audit of your section together with your team.
    • Observe and enforce any Codes of Practice, any instructions, procedures, directives, permissions, exemptions etc., issued by the Mine, the DMR or any other person who is authorized to do so.
    • Stop any working place when the Occupational Health and/or Safety of any such persons are endangered, or instructed to do so by the person appointed in terms of section 23 of the MHSA.

    This role is in the Mining department at a C5 level reporting to the Mine Overseer.

    Qualifications

    You will be required to have:

    • Grade 10.
    • Valid Blasting Certificate.
    • Completed Operation Shift Supervisor course.

    Knowledge, skills and experience required:

    • 3 years’ experience as a Stoping Miner /Crew Captain.
    • Experience in Drop Raise Mining Method and S3 Longhole Drill Riggs is required.

    Business Improvement Advisor

    Job Description

    Your day-to-day duties will include:

    • Consistently apply Safety & Health principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
    • Collect and summarise the specific risks within working area and implement plans/system to avoid these risks.
    • Assist to execute delegated model construction and running activities as required during the Operational Planning process.
    • Facilitate process for identification of improvement levers (design, strategy, execution, resourcing) to close gap between current and target performance distribution.
    • Facilitate identification of improvement opportunities to close gap between OMS output and required operational performance through use of OM tools.
    • Ensure a structured process (as per Operating Model) is followed for definition of Measures for a site or department.
    • Assist with developing training material customized for local circumstances yet utilizing concepts and material consistent with the Anglo-American OM models.
    • Drive delivery the sustainability activities as relevant to discipline and set out in the Life of Asset Plan to improve sustainability performance over time.
    • Support the development of, and ultimately implement, a purpose-led, high-performing culture within the teams that is aligned with the company values, is inclusive and promotes diversity.
    • Implement management processes for employee & contractor management within work area.
    • Manage compliance of the teams within work area with external (legislative, regulatory, permitting) local requirements as a minimum level of site performance.

    This role is in the Integrated Planning & Operating Model department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Business Improvement Specialist.

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12
    • B-Tech or Bachelor’s degree. (Mining, Industrial, Processing, Geoscience, all the types of engineering),
    • Lean, 6 Sigma, Simio Modelling, Project Management advantageous

    Experience

    • At least 3year’s experience post-graduation
    • An understanding of the principles of how operational processes are classified according to the Operating Model.
    • Demonstrated understanding of Project management fundamentals.

    Operational Planning Specialist

    Job Description

    The role is based at our Mogalakwena operations where your day-to-day duties will include:

    • To design and develop a generic calibrated data-driven Business Structure Performance (BSP) model for the operation.
    • To embed the necessary safety controls within the model and systems / processes managed through appropriate safety checkpoints established throughout the Operational Planning process as integrated with layer 1 and 2 of Operational Risk Management
    • Translate business expectations into site-specific objectives.
    • Compile improvement scenarios and options from across the business.
    • Identify challenging and omissions of threats in conjunction with departments in achieving the plan and coordinating the opportunities to improve or mitigate.
    • Develop guidelines and tools to support departments in developing Production and Service Strategies, and ensuring process is consistent across departments and compliant with the AOM.
    • Facilitate the Management Routines in support of Operational Planning across the site to collect key inputs from site departments and corporate functions to scheduled work in the OMS.
    • Provide visibility of outputs from OMS, Expenditure Schedule and provide information regarding the Routine Operating Schedule.
    • Monitor and improve the effectiveness of the AAOM Operational Planning processes on site.
