The responsibilities of a Foreman include the following tasks:
- To monitor productivity and efficiency of workshop personnel with particular attention to work execution, discipline, appearance and punctuality
- Offer technical advice to staff when necessary
- Ensure all technical information is current and available to workshop staff
- Ensure quality control standards are met before vehicle is collected from premises
- Ensure that the workshop and its equipment are maintained in a safe and clean manner
- Ensure that workshop staff receives adequate technical training and that the apprentices are trained in accordance with requirements
- Verify and approve time sheets for overtime worked.
- To ensure all sublet work is recorded at the back of the job card with the sublet invoice number as cross-reference
- To ensure a copy of sublet invoice are attached to job card and original invoice immediately given to the workshop clerk, or put into sublet tray for processing by the workshop administration office.
- Ensure parts requisitions and numbers are recorded on the job card for processing
- Ensure that job cards are kept in the technicians’ trays, to prevent misplacement or lost job cards
- To ensure that job cards are verified for sublets, parts requisitions and correct labour/overtime before signing and handing over to reception for costing
- Ensure that the technician record the correct authorised work on the back of the job card
- Daily review of all job cards ensuring correct clocking and warranty/FML procedures are adhered to
- Ensure that all FML and warranty parts are labelled and information handed to the warranty clerk
- To ensure that all flat rate times are booked correctly by the technicians before processing
- To ensure technicians are informed of the correct flat rate times allowed per job
- Responsible for the control and operation of the unit repair shop and wash bay
- Ensure that work is only carried out after the Technical Advisor has obtained the customer’s authorisation to proceed
- Supervision of the 24-hour Standby Service
- Maximize vehicle throughput in the workshop to increase sales of labour, outwork and sundries
- To achieve high levels of customer satisfaction and retention in the workshop
- To ensure all services and repairs scheduled for vehicles are completed by day end
- To ensure compliance to company rules and regulations at all times
- To ensure full responsibility and accountability for House Keeping
