    Assistant Director 2: Eco-DRR Data Management Specialist

    Key Performance Responsibilities include:

    • Oversee ingestion, validation, quality control, and curation of biodiversity and spatial datasets;
    • Ensure metadata standards are applied (e.g., Darwin Core, SANBI metadata standards);
    • Maintain data infrastructure reliability, versioning, backups, and access control;
    • Support data contributors, citizen scientists, and internal users, working closely with the BIM Team on hosting, security, user access and system stability; and
    • Coordinate data lifecycle management from collection, processing to publication.
    • This position requires a degree in Biodiversity Informatics, Environmental Science, Information Science, or equivalent qualification with NQF 7.
    • A post-graduate qualification in Biodiversity Informatics, Environmental Science, Information Science, or equivalent qualification at NQF 8 will be an added advantage. 
    • This position also requires 6 years of work experience in the relevant field of biodiversity data management, informatics, or environmental data systems of which 3 years should be in supervisory position(s).

    Assistant Director: Financial Management and Reporting - Green Climate Fund

    Key performance responsibilities include:

    Assist to:

    • Provide effective financial management and financial risk management advice to GCF and other projects;
    • Ensure effective financial administration of GCF and other projects;

    Deputy Director 1: Environmental Management

    Key Performance Responsibilities include:

    • Provide strategic leadership and policy advice on the most effective environmental management approaches to mainstreaming Eco-DRR and ecological infrastructure interventions in four District Municipalities of South Africa;
    • Ensure effective operational management of engagements between SANBI and other organisations and stakeholders, with regard to environmental and Eco-DRR regulatory advice;
    • Lead capacity development initiatives among officials in four Districts to incorporate biodiversity priorities and Eco-DRR considerations in their work; and
    • Lead the compilation of a baseline assessment of existing risk management frameworks, tools and approaches for ecological and built infrastructure in the four Districts.
    • This position requires degree in Environmental Sciences or equivalent relevant qualification at NQF 7, focused on environmental management.
    • A post-graduate qualification in Environmental Sciences or equivalent relevant qualification at NQF 8 will be added advantage. 
    • This position also requires 8 years of work experience in the relevant field of environmental policy implementation and/or advisory capacity of which 4 years should be in first-line management position(s).

    Deputy Director 2: Eco-DRR Landscape Management

    Key Performance Responsibilities include:

    • Lead the technical design and coordinate the execution of the assigned project outcome;
    • Provide guidance to district teams and implementing partners, and lead co-creation processes to ensure delivery of outputs and promote integration across outcomes;
    • Support knowledge generation, documentation, and adaptive management;
    • Coordinate with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting & Learning and safeguards functions on delivery and performance tracking; and
    • Contribute to capacity building, technical planning, and quality assurance.
    • This position requires a degree in Life Sciences, Natural Sciences, Ecology, Biology, Botany, or equivalent qualification with NQF 7.

    Deputy Director 2: NCA Project Manager

    Key Performance Responsibilities include:

    • Manage and co-ordinate the development of priority ecosystem accounts and other NCA project deliverables;
    • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, and convene stakeholders in support of NCA work

    Principal Technician: GIS - Ecosystem Accounting

    Key performance responsibilities include the following:

    • Source, generate, integrate, and manage spatial and non-spatial data to support ecosystem accounting and related analyses;
    • Undertake spatial analysis related to ecosystem accounting and spatial and non-spatial data analysis
    • Support technical and spatial knowledge products development and translation; and
    • Facilitate human capital development within the sub-directorate.

    Senior Biodiversity Mainstreaming Officer

    • Support policy advice on the most appropriate legislative and policy solutions for ensuring that environmental management/ ecological infrastructure is mainstreamed into Eco-DRR interventions in four District Municipalities of South Africa;

    • This position also requires 4 years of work experience in environmental management, biodiversity municipal support, capacity building and ecological infrastructure mainstreaming.
