    HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER II

    Santam Human Resources has a position for a HR Business Partner Lead (Direct and Namibia), based at Head Office, Tygervalley, reporting to the Head: HR Delivery. You will work with the leadership team of defined business area and human resources colleagues to implement the Group HR strategy. Your ability to develop strategic partnerships with assigned portfolios will be a success factor in this role

    What will make you successful in this role?

    You are

    • Hold a Postgraduate qualification in Behavioural Sciences/Business Management

    You have

    • 5-8 years’ experience in a senior human resources role covering all areas of the function
    • HR Management experience in a call centre/contact centre environment will be advantageous
    • Ability to travel (Namibia)
    • Managed relationships with senior leaders
    • Service delivery role experience. Strong experience in the ER/IR field. Industry experience Knowledgeable about HR practices: recruitment, talent development, performance management, facilitation, legislation, labour relations, leadership and organisational development, change management and remuneration
    • A strong understanding of HR legislation and requirements, and the ability to apply the relevant legislation in the work environment. Specifically, knowledge of employment practices & compliance (Labor Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Employment Equity Act, Skills development Act)
    • Good knowledge and understanding of HR Best practices, policies and procedures

    Manager: Underwriting Analytics

    What will you do?

    • Santam’s Personal Lines Underwriting Business Unit has a vacancy for a Manager: Underwriting Analytics who will report to the Manager: Rating, Analysis and Reporting. The successful incumbent will be based in Cape Town, Bellville.

    What will make you successful in this role?

    Profit & growth

    • Responsible for the analysis of profit and growth, and manage interventions through price adjustments and other underwriting initiatives. This is across all Personal Lines distribution channels through proactive trend analysis.
    • Ownership, initiation, implementation and monitoring of corrective action for Profit and Growth
    • Focuses on commercially viable solutions.
    • Drive various process automations and efficiencies.

    Leadership

    • Lead a team of Underwriting Analysts
    • Translates and shares the direction, purpose and strategic goals in order to ensure alignment.
    • Influences/motivates others to translate the vision into action.
    • Identifies barriers to execute strategy and seeks to remove these barriers
    • Collectively develop high-level plans and sub-target plans for the team
    • Ensures appropriate skills, tools and organization of work to allow for effective delivery.

    Relationships

    • Relationship owner with Actuarial and Product Development in terms of Santam’s Personal Lines Pricing Strategy and maintenance of product range to remain competitive.
    • Manage relationships with internal and external business partners – provide pricing and underwriting knowledge and expertise where required.
    • Engagement with IT – Management Information (MI) in order to ensure continuous improvement of both the processes and systems as required.

    Analytics

    • Performance analysis of data and identification of corrective actions.
    • Analyse and build statistical models for various sets of data on a regular basis to assist in determining business trends. This includes forecasting models
    • Predictive Underwriting model design and implementation
    • Monitor results of all action plans and effectiveness of plans implemented (Eg. Review of effectiveness, Screening rules, book take-on’s, or other initiatives)
    • Data quality control and data management
    • Drive IT logs and engagement
    • Primary analytical support to internal divisions (Risk Services and Broker Services)

    Qualification and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree - applicable major preferred (Statistics/Applied Math,)
    • Experience in personal lines underwriting systems and data management
    • Minimum 5-8 years experience operating at a senior/management level
    • Minimum 5-8 years’ experience managing the BU portfolio and delivering solutions to the respective BU’s
    • Minimum of 3- 5 years strong Data Management experience
