    Inventory Analyst

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    The Inventory Analyst is responsible for conducting an on-going Inventory risk analysis, ensure the balancing and alignment of systems and performing certain month-end responsibilities to support the Inventory Accountant.

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Finalise monthly accounting for inventory transactions
    • Approve stock takes 
    • Ensure the accuracy and validity of write-offs
    • Process journals as required
    • Critically assess inventory-related risks
    • Resolve escalated inventory queries (mostly from stock takes) & minimize the risk of financial loss
    • Escalate systems or process errors or improvements to the business analyst and/or Pepkor IT
    • Prepare year- and month-end inventory calculations and process journals
    • Conducting inventory and other data reconciliations 
    • Resolve potential weighted average unit cost price discrepancies
    • Assist with the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting
    • Perform monthly general ledger (GL) inventory reconciliations
    • Data reporting and adhoc tasks 

     

    JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS

    • Relevant tertiary qualification (certificate, diploma, degree), a B Com degree would be an advantage
    • 2 years’ relevant experience in a Financial environment 
    • Experience working in a retail environment (preferred)
    • Understanding of end-to-end inventory processes
    • Good financial administration knowledge and ability
    • Good knowledge of basic accounting principles and their application (debits, credits, journals, reconciliations)
    • Intermediate to advanced Excel and/or Google Sheets skills

    Competencies required: Problem assessment, Communication skills (verbal and written); interpersonal skills, ability to work independently as well as in a team; attention to detail; above-average numerical ability; deadline-driven; analytical thinking; ability to work under pressure and able to deal with large volumes of work
