    Technical Sales Engineer - Durban

    You will be mainly accountable for:

    • Communicating to the customers about details related to delivery time, payments, and general terms and conditions, in line with ABB’s offering and strategy.
    • Ensuring efficient marketing activities and communicates value proposition to customers.
    • Identifying and driving the development of new market opportunities in the designated market.
    • Managing administrative procedures in sales processes and supports cash collection and project management activities, when needed.

    Qualifications for the Role

    Sales Supp. Specialist-Customer Support

    You will be mainly accountable for:

    • Ensuring the resolution of customer issues by coordinating with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain Management, and other internal and/or external teams.
    • Recommending appropriate solution for customer requests and coordinating with the related teams to ensure end-to-end handling of the request (e.g., production capability and scheduling, resourcing, quotes, price lists, invoice, etc.) is in place.

    Senior Designer - JHB

    You will be mainly accountable for:

    • Performing Basic and Detailed Engineering packages for MV Primary Switchgear solutions (typically 3.3 kV – 36 kV), project peer-reviews, utilizing checklists to perform design verification according to applicable standards and engineering guidelines.
    • Creating standard processes and tools to promote the reuse of technical solutions, innovation, and productivity in the design team.
    • Developing work plans and cost estimates for the portfolio of projects.
    • Reviewing complete project documents for conformity, safety, cybersecurity, and quality assurance requirements.
    • Produce single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams/ schematics, and layout drawings.
    • Define design criteria and specify appropriate technologies, protection philosophies, and equipment ratings.
    • Ensure designs comply with IEC, SANS, ISO, and customer-specific requirements.
    • Create detailed and accurate Bills of Materials for all projects including the selection and allocation of equipment such as circuit breakers, CTs, VTs, relays, protection & control devices and auxiliary components.
    • Provide cost inputs and finalize cost estimates for MV switchgear solutions.
    • Specify electrical equipment, protection relays, metering devices, auxiliaries and MV technologies aligned with project requirements.
    • Work closely with project managers, manufacturing teams, and procurement to deliver high‑quality solutions.
    • Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and site interfaces when required.
    • Prepare detailed engineering documentation, datasheets, technical reports, and design files.
    • Ensure all designs meet quality, accuracy, and compliance expectations.

    Qualifications for the role

    • Must have a Degree in Electrical Engineering Heavy current
    • >5 years of experience in design engineering/testing and commission of PAIS switchgear
    • Switchgear design background.
    • Strong E-Plan background, strong technical ability and engineering 
    • ECSA registered will be advantageous.
    • SAP knowledge, create accurate BOM's
    • Possess an enhanced knowledge of EPlan/CAD software.
    • You are passionate about coaching and developing young talent.

    You will be mainly accountable for:

    • Selling products, systems and ongoing services to new customers, focusing on volume, mix, and profitability targets for the Process Industries Mining division.
    • Establishing and maintains effective customer relationships to understand their needs, promotes their understanding of ABB’s complete Hoist offering, and aligns with them to provide a solution.

    • Creating added value for the customer and ABB and ensures the successful outcome of transactions, contracts and proposals by using effective sales techniques.
    • Communicates to the customers about the details related to delivery time, payments, and general terms and conditions, in line with ABB’s offering and strategy.
    • Ensuring efficient marketing activities and value proposition topics are regularly mobilized to customers and consultants.

    • Sales Skills such as disciplined & methodical preparation, ability to connect and listen and understand customer requirements, effectively consult and position value propositions and solutions, create compelling Techno-Commercial Offers and winning through effective negotiation techniques.
    • Hoist Control and Safety Systems experience and application knowledge.
    • Hoist Mechanical and Electrical systems experience and application knowledge.
    • Projects experience within the Hoisting environment.
    • Exposure and functional knowledge of Electrical Systems such as Medium Voltage, Low Voltage, Motor Control and Variable Speed Drives.
