    Corporate Tax Consulting Manager - Financial Services

    The Job

    BDO Johannesburg has a vacancy for a Corporate Tax Manager within the Corporate Tax Consulting Financial Services team in the Tax Department. The incumbent will be reporting to the Head of Corporate Tax Consulting.

    The Manager will also be given the responsibility to lead Tax Banking project engagements in the Financial Services tax team. This role will involve taking responsibility for the planning and execution / delivery of engagements, leading project / tax teams to achieve this and building / maintaining client relationships while delivering on this.

    In addition, the Manager will be expected to get involved with the day-to-day operations of the Tax Financials Services business unit, which include (but are not limited to) functions such as:

    • Assisting BDO to achieve its financial targets driving the BDO brand, business development, technical tax competence and client service in line with BDO values.
    • Interpreting and applying theoretical and industry knowledge to a practical business solution by utilising a sound knowledge of income tax and corporate law.
    • Preparing and/or reviewing income tax and deferred tax computations.
    • Reviewing tax computations for the Financial Services audit department.
    • Drafting technically correct opinions and advise reports for review to be provided to clients and the Financial Services audit department.
    • Gathering information from different sources by using effective research tools.
    • Assisting with the research and preparation of proposals.
    • Identifying income tax issues arising at clients and use various tools and techniques to provide suggestions on how to solve them.
    • Adapting to a changing work environment and accommodate changing client demands.
    • Liaising with Financial Services audit partners and audit staff with regards to tax issues.
    • Liaising with SARS.
    • Visiting clients to remediate tax issues and assist clients with SARS audit and queries.
    • Managing and maintaining client relationships.
    • Preparing and managing budgets, debtors and monthly invoices.
    • Producing accurate work and client deliverables to a high technical standard while coaching and mentoring junior staff.
    • Managing subordinates in the corporate tax consulting team.

    Qualifications:

    • BCom Accounting
    • BCom Honours in Accounting or Taxation
    • M.Com, or Hdip
    • CA(SA) advantageous

    Professional designation:

    • SAICA and/or SAIT

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years Financial Services tax experience, post qualifying

    Senior Tax Compliance Consultant

    The Role

    BDO Johannesburg has a vacancy for a Senior Tax Compliance Consultant within the Corporate Tax Compliance Services division. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Tax Compliance, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:

    • Preparation of corporate income tax returns
    • Preparation of provisional tax returns
    • Preparation of IT14SD reconciliations
    • Attending to SARS queries
    • Drafting of objections to SARS
    • Preparation of withholding tax returns for interest, dividends and royalties

    Qualifications:

    • B. Com or equivalent tax qualification;
    • Preferably post graduate qualification in Tax

     Experience:

    • At least 5 years’ experience in Corporate Tax Compliance
    • Experience in an audit firm environment

    Competencies:

    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

    Transfer Pricing and International Tax Consultant

    The Role

    BDO Johannesburg has a vacancy for a suitable qualified and experienced Transfer Pricing / International Tax Consultant. Reporting as part of the Transfer Pricing and International Tax team, you will inter alia be responsible for:

    • Assisting the Transfer Pricing team with advisory services such as transfer pricing setting strategies or advising foreign multinational companies on the tax implications of their operations in the region
    • Assisting the Transfer Pricing team with preparing compliance documentation such as country-by-country reporting, master files and local files
    • Assisting the Transfer Pricing and International Tax team with accrual reviews and due diligences
    • Drafting proposals for engagements bearing in mind the expectations of our clients
    • Developing and pursuing creative strategies while using latest technologies available or to be programmed with our technology department

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Preferably CA(SA), TA(SA) or Attorney currently studying towards or completed M.Com, LLM (Tax Law) or HDip (Tax), or degree or post-graduate degree in economics
    • At least 1-2 years’ experience in Transfer Pricing and preferably International Tax
