    DSC - Transport Supervisor (Kempton Park)

    Job Purpose:   

    To provide support to the Transport Manager - and to assist in the control of dispatch.  Ensure that all loads on the load plan are loaded and that all vehicles are fully utilized.  Ensure that all vehicles are correctly loaded to avoid damages.  Compliance with OSHAC - Labour Relations Act and Skills Development Act whilst maintaining sound IR.  Service delivery must be on time and accurately.  Ensure customer service is the highest standard and that losses to the Company are kept to a minimum.  To always maintain the integrity of the Company.  Assist drivers with delivery queries at customers.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Perform the duties of a transport operative - supervisor.
    • Direct the work of team members
    • Diesel records and reconcile with Stanfleet on Monthly basis
    • Routing been done via Plato
    • Maintain records and review documents prepared by the team
    • Monitor performance of team members
    • Report any breaches of Health & Safety regulations and incidents/accidents
    • Daily measurement of key performance indicators (KPI) in accordance with each client's service level agreement (SLA) and reporting thereof
    • Daily, Weekly and monthly reports on operational KPI`s and staff performance
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
    • Conduct training for new team members as required.
    • Conduct team communication sessions (team briefs)
    • Ensure vehicles loaded correctly according to invoices and Plato
    • Safe keeping of all keys, gps, cell phones and diesel cards
    • Make sure signing in and out of cell phones and Gps by each driver
    • Manage Transport processes.
    • Manage employees daily and the working hours including overtime
    • Handle all disciplinary matters including investigations.
    • 24/7 response on Accidents and Breakdowns           

    Qualifications, Experience & Attributes:

    • Matric
    • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
    • Relevant Tertiary Qualification or equivalent an advantage.
    • Good written and communication skills and understand basic arithmetical principle.
    • Ability to read; understand and follow directions and instructions.                    
    • Ability to communicate fluently on all levels.

    • To co-ordinate movement of stock out of depot in a manner to maximize profit
    • Person should know what products are handled by the Company.
    • Person should be able to enforce health and safety procedures and identify hazards.
    • Person needs good understanding of distribution and transport methods.
    • Person has a good understanding of quality as a key value
    • Awareness of importance of security
    • Operational knowledge and understanding of service delivery.
    • Ability to understand instructions and to accurately carry out instructions - must listen effectively and convey ideas logically.
    • React to customers in a courteous and professional manner and maintain at the highest level
    • Person should be able to propose different solutions to problems - must be able to act on their own without being urged to do so
    • Ability to meet time limits as set.
    • 3-5 years in warehousing/logistics/FMCG environment
    • Knowledge of client’s requirements and customer needs

    AFR Import Controller

    In this AFR Import Controller position

    • You will provide front line contact with customer.
    • You will be liaising with overseas stations and suppliers in order to arrange shipments.
    • You will be monitoring and following up on shipments until delivery.
    • You will create/confirm transport order to ensure delivery of the shipment to the final customer.
    • You will perform booking and booking optimization according to internal guidelines as defined by Product.
    • You will prepare, control and distribute all required Import documents to counterparts (carrier, consignee, supplier, etc.) complying with regulations and internal procedures.
    • You will ensure the accurate tariffs application on all shipments billings.
    • You will be managing the profitability of every shipment and raising any issues or incidents that would impact the profitability of the account.
    • You will perform IT systems related tasks to provide up to date information on shipment.
    • You will be attending to client queries as required and making sure all operational KPI’s are met and maintained.
    • You will prepare monthly KPI reporting if required and handle customer complaints.
    • You will develop and maintain customer relationships with existing customers.
    • You will manage the clients’ requirements outlined on client SOP and DHL GF Standard Work Manuals.
    • You will assist Airfreight Import Manager to meet department targets.
    • You will participate in joint Sales visits if necessary and identify and report new possible business opportunities.
    • You will maintain good relationships with colleagues in various operations.
    • You will coordinate/liaise/work with carrier contact on operational activities, issue resolution, process execution and performance improvements according to corporate policy.
    • You will maintain excellent relationships with suppliers and monitor shipments on a daily basis.
    • You will be keeping record of the status of shipments and raising CCM’s and OI’s where required.
    • You will capture and monitor system time stamps required for client status reports and KPI’s.
    • You will constantly be demonstrating and living the values of DHL

     Now, here’s what we need from you

    • Must have a Grade 12
    • Tertiary education including diploma will be an advantage
    • 5 years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
