    Innovation& Sourcing Analyst

    Main Job Purpose:

    Reporting to the Cluster Category Strategic Planning Manager, the Regional Innovation Planning role is suitable for someone with broad experience within the Africa Cluster SC organisation. The role is suitable for a skilled and ambitious Supply Chain professional, with previous expertise in the broader Supply Chain. As the WL1 custodian of the category’s innovation process, the role requires good communication skills, financial acumen and strong category Supply Chain knowledge.

    Key Accountabilities:

    Innovation Planning:

    • Supply Chain lead for Innovation until MRG, working with Marketing and R&D leads in the Innovation trio team & Represents E2E SC (except Procurement) and Capabilities Organisation in project network meetings

    • Works with innovation project teams to develop and update networks for projects.

    • Ensures Supply Chain input, after consultation with 3P SC, MCO Planning, SU Processing and Logistics teams, is factored into networks until MRG and that SC tasks are executed on time.

    • Engages SU Process/ SUIT to verify innovation capability and, where capability does not exist, ensures Capex requirements have been shared by SU Process / SUIT for use in the Business case support process.

    • Supports the Capital Expenditure Proposal (CEP) process with Category inputs and ensure alignment to Category strategy; Ensures capex requirements for Innovations are collated with Brand Marketing team, in line with the 12Q plans

    • Ensures each project has a completed Innovation Assumption Document (IAD) and, liaises with the Demand Planner, to interrogate the robustness of the volume assumptions.

    • Provides SC input on projects business cases: Capex, Conversion costs, Landed costs (for imports), write-off estimates.

    • Sign-off from SC stakeholders on Golden Rules breaks and SC risks taken in a project, because of network acceleration.

    • Responsible for local transition management planning, for effective management of Innovation Business Waste including obsoletes disposal within set limits.

    • Ensures timely initiation and completion of master data workstream in NeCo/MPower

    • Communicates and updates SC key stakeholders on Innovation timings, STT, and impact of changes in timings.

    Sourcing Responsibilities

    • Complete Sourcing Studies – Comparisons of the landed costs of multiple sourcing sites for a particular African MSO customer. This includes a consideration of formulation and capital outlay, should it be necessary. Once complete, sign off the recommendations with the relevant MSO.

    • Develop the network for the sourcing setup or change.

    • Drives the Finished goods resilience agenda for the category across Africa.

    • Coordinates the ongoing resilience workstreams required for business continuity and keeps these refreshed and updated.

    • Execute (and input into) sourcing strategy as determined by the Category SC team. WL1 owner of Resilience sourcing strategies for the product group.

    • Perform Sourcing Strategy analysis to understand potential opportunities for optimization

    Professional Skills:

    • Degree or equivalent experience in SC

    • Logistics, Supply Chain (APICS etc) qualification an advantage

    • FMCG Supply Chain (Procurement, Planning, Customer Service, Logistics)

    • Understanding of and interaction with SC Make / Factory

    • Commercial/Financial acumen

    • Cross functional business process knowledge

    • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal

    • Strong Influencing and stakeholder management skills

    • Detail oriented, with strong analytical skills

    Experience Required:

    Data Partnerships Lead

    JOB SUMMARY

    • Negotiate data detail in setting up any data partnership (e.g.: with retailers, data partners, media platforms)

    • Coordinate and accelerate completion of partnership deals by working closely with retailers, Unilever global data teams and Unilever legal teams

    • Build strong relationships and work with the global data partnerships team to identify and secure strategic data partnerships as well as with the media team to secure data partnerships with media platforms

    • Maintain and refresh data partnership deals each year, working with the internal teams leads (e.g. CD for JBPs, media for media partners etc.)

    • Own roadmap towards DMP to DMP partnership (utopia – always on optimisation and retargeting capabilities vs. sales data)

    • Run DDM efforts with data partners to deliver increased ROI on activities

    • Deliver measurement ecosystem to determine ROI of partnership and supports optimisations

    KEY REQUIREMENTS

    • Relevant Marketing / Business degree

    • 3 – 5 years relevant experience as listed below:

    • Demonstrable ad operations, digital media buying or similar experience gained within digital marketing and advertising

    • A demonstrable passion for technology and data, and its application to marketing and advertising, as well as a high degree of tech savviness

    • Experience in at least one of the following categories: DMPs, ad servers, content verification technologies, DSPs, data partners

    • Highly numerate with a detailed approach to work, with excellent excel skills and analytical ability

    • Structured, clear communicator, with experience writing documentation for wide distribution across an organisation – strong Word and PowerPoint skills are essential

    • Experience in running RFI / RFP processes highly desirable

    • Partner management and negotiation experience highly desirable

    • Technical or marketing undergraduate degree a plus

    • Excellent organisational skills

    Process Development Engineer (Talent Pool)

    Core responsibilities:

    • Perform scale-up studies and adapt bench-scale processes to pilot and manufacturing scale. Lead experimental production of products in the pilot plant, Unilever factories and contract manufacturers.

    • Create, validate and implement process specifications. Prepare trial reports. Provide input on capital equipment required to meet processing capability.

    • Deliver the processing work stream and project leadership of key projects assigned (i.e. innovation, cost reduction, quality improvement, operational improvement, sourcing, technology transfer).

    • Effectively work with multi-disciplinary teams across the business and update stakeholders as appropriate. Clearly communicate on matters relating to the commercialization of new products; monitoring and improving process capability of the factory to consistently deliver products within specifications.

    • Employ fundamental engineering principles to troubleshoot and continuously improve formulation and processing parameters of Unilever’s products. Be competent in the application of best practices in technology delivery within established systems (Innovation Project Management, Process Specifications and Validation, Good Manufacturing Practices, Safety in Manufacturing and Supply (SIMAS), and other Quality Management systems).

    • Ensure that R&D laboratories and pilot plant maintain compliance to relevant standards. Maintain the upkeep of the pilot plant and administer capex processes. Plan and coordinate installations, testing, operation, maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment. Ensure safe operation of pilot plants and during commercial plant trials.

    • Operate according to procedures and ways of working in line with Unilever frameworks, standards and policies and relevant regulatory bodies.

    • Support quality improvement projects to resolve operational and consumer complaint issues.

    • Be willing and able to perform manual labour as part of job activities eg. weighing chemicals, moving large quantities of bulk material, operate manufacturing equipment etc.

    • Be willing and able to undergo training. Ensure that your certifications are always valid to perform job responsibilities eg. boiler operation, permit to work etc.

    • Work on many projects simultaneously and show a strong sense of responsibility and accountability.

    • Communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) and leverage a global network of expertise.

    • Be hands-on during the validation of process operations, and quickly adapt to new manufacturing technologies, tools/software and other digital systems.

    • Represent R&D in a positive professional manner, demonstrating safe work habits and promote safe behaviour to other personnel and external contacts.

    • Supervise ad-hoc temporary staff and execute ad-hoc tasks as delegated from time to time.

    Requirements

    • BTech. or Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering

    • Provide academic transcripts upon application.

    • Minimum 1 year of experience in a manufacturing facility and/or R&D role with experience in engineering design, scale-up, commissioning and/or troubleshooting technical processes will be advantageous.

    • Be willing and able to travel for business purposes nationally and internationally when called upon. Own vehicle and valid driver’s licence. Expected travel for this role is not to exceed 10% of time.
