    Senior Lab Technician - Benoni

    Job Description    

    • Health and safety awareness.
    • Fair understanding of the company’s quality management system.
    • Keen interest to strengthen skills in asphalt, aggregate and binder technology through training processes.
    • Testing and analysis of binder and asphalt.
    • Knowledge of performance grade testing.
    • Lead lab team and ensure results are processed as per QMS
    • Knowledge of SANAS 17025 standards.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Matric or equivalent
    • National Diploma in Civil or Chemistry advantageous.
    • At least 3 to 5 years laboratory work in asphalt and bituminous industry.

    Welder - Umbogintwini

    Job Description    

    • To provide welding support and maintenance services to the plant and site.
    • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
    • Operate safety equipment, and use safe work habits.
    • Determine required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
    • Keep a proper record of all maintenance, repair and construction work.
    • To guide, coach and mentor Apprentices. Identify and report on their training needs, progress and skills development.
    • To liaise with production and workshop personnel in order to coordinate maintenance and repair jobs.
    • Monitor the functioning of various plant and equipment and report the finding
    • Order any required spares and materials from stores.
    • Comply with Site specific safety regulations, procedures and Company rules.
    • Comply with relevant safety regulations as prescribed in the OHS act.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Completed recognised Apprenticeship in the Welding Trade.
    • Preferably 3 years post Apprenticeship experience in a manufacturing plant.
    • Preferably coded welding certification.
    • Ability and willingness to carry out simple steel fabrication tasks
    • Knowledge of tools and General Engineering Equipment.
    • Able to perform relevant engineering trade-specific, related calculations.
    • Must be trained with Emergency Safety Equipment i.e. breathing apparatus sets and air mask sets in difficult conditions
    • Computer literate and knowledge of computerised maintenance management systems

    Job Description    

    • Plan coordinate and prioritize maintenance and process control needs in line with production plant and process requirements.
    • Develop and implement procedures in conjunction with the Maintenance Planner, Buyer, Engineering and Production Departments in order to ensure spare part availability and controls thereof.
    • To minimize plant downtime through effective maintenance planning, and the application of preventative and predictive maintenance
    • Responsible for leading a team of Instrument Technicians or Mechanicians, Electricians, Apprentices, Artisan Aids, and contractors providing maintenance support to the plants and process equipment.
    • To provide a reliable and cost-effective maintenance service to production.
    • To Manage the use of materials, care for the equipment and plant to minimize wastage
    • To ensure all maintenance work is carried out to an acceptable standard.
    • Completion of activities as scheduled in a timely manner in accordance with the planned maintenance program, statutory requirements, and company procedures
    • Ensure availability of spares at all times.

    Reagent Supervisor - Impala Central

    Job Description    

    • The Reagent Supervisor assists Reagents Operators with their daily duties, especially in the operator’s absence due to training commitments and leave, namely: offloading of reagents, mixing of reagents, reagents dosage monitoring, reagents flowrate measurements (Spot-check), quality control, troubleshooting, data capturing, housekeeping
    • The Reagent Supervisor also assists the Vendor Manager (2.6.1 Site Manager) with some of his/her daily duties: acting/standing in for the VM in his absence (leave/training), attending engineering and production meetings, reporting reagents deviations to client, stock reconciliation, reagents ordering, decision making
    • Carry Supervisory (2.9.2) duties due to legal appointment: over-inspections of operator’s inspections and task checklists, conduct PTOs on operators, attending of engineering meetings, reagents area monthly inspections with safety department, compilation and submission of operational file (Safety administration)
    • Filing and capturing of PODs and invoices for GRVs with stores
    • General office administration (Filing/booking of training dates)
    • Submission of PTOs to client HRD

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Matric with Maths & Science
    • National Diploma – Extractive Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering (Advantageous)
    • 2 years’ Experience as a reagent operator

    Plant Operator - Filter Press (Calcium And Magnesium Nitrate)

    Job Description    

    • Sets up the filter press according to laid down procedures.
    • Pumps solutions from the intermediate tank to the filter press.
    • Monitors the flow through the filter press.
    • Adjusts the density by adjusting the water flow.
    • Stops the intermediate tank stirrer when the liquid level drops below the stirrer blades.
    • Pumps the finished product from the clear tank to the finished product storage tank.
    • Determines the dip of the storage tank batch size calculations.
    • Take samples for lab analysis.
    • Cleans filter press according to laid down procedures.
    • Keeps the plant tidy at all times and reports all unsafe or out of order equipment promptly to the Team Leader.
    • Transfers bags containing filtrate sludge to a designated storage area.
    • Required to assist with stock takes when required.
    • To undertake any legal ad hoc tasks for which the incumbent is competent as directed by management.
    • Required to drive a forklift and maintain medical fitness for license renewal.
    • Ensure mandatory checklists and log sheets are completed.

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Matric / Grade 12.
    • Diploma or Certificate in chemical plant operations related courses would be advantageous.
    • Minimum of 1-year experience in a Production and/or chemical plant operations experience.
    • Must be able to drive a forklift, be medically fit to drive a forklift and be in possession of a valid forklift driver’s license.
    • Basic computer literacy skills.
    • Knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems standards/requirements would be advantageous.

    Service Specialist

    Job Description    

    • Comply to all safety rules, ensure all risk assessments and safe work procures are in place
    • Ensure healthy growth of the accounts in the area and make sure customers are kept happy
    • Assist on site to take samples, analyse and compile weekly service and monthly reports
    • Attend monthly/quarterly review meetings with key site management personnel
    • Place monthly chemical orders and ensure all products are delivered and correct stock levels are maintained
    • Site Servicing (Control equipment, calibration, dosing pumps, water chemistry)
    • Ensure all chemical treated systems are fully optimized and good margins are maintained on site
    • Ensure all treated systems are treated properly and enough stock is always on site

    • Ensure all accounts are paid up, if not to follow up and make sure accounts are not blocked
    • Ensure housekeeping and Safety on all sites are always up to AECI standards
    • Quarterly and yearly budgets for all accounts
    • Monthly chemical forecast
    • Assist on periodic price increases on all accounts

    Qualifications & Experience    

    • Matric/Grade 12, preferably with Science and Mathematics
    • A Degree or National Diploma in Chemical Engineering/Science/Chemistry/Technical Field
    • Must have a minimum 3 years in Water Treatment/Account Management/Sales
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • Proficiency in Excel/Word/PowerPoint
