    Shift Mechanical Technician

    About The Role

    • The Shift Mechanical Technician together with other technicians will be expected to provide mechanical/ technical support to the machine crews on shift in order to maintain and optimize asset reliability to achieve safety, quality and productivity targets.

    What will you be doing? 

    Safety

    • Ensure compliance to all departmental and plant safety rules and regulations. All non-conformances should be dealt with immediately all unresolved issues must be raised with Mechanical Engineer/ Team Leader or Department Manager. Follow the correct WSWP and Process Instruction for all tasks performed. Carry out continuous improvement and process optimization to ensure safety.

    Productivity

    • Support production within the Diaper, Diaper Pants and Femcare operation by providing shift mechanical support to the operations teams.
    • Carry out action plans as directed to solve problems thereby minimizing mechanical delay.
    • Analyse mechanical delay and resolve problems as part of cross-functional teams.
    • Participate in Asset product changeovers and minimise task tooltime
    • Support auxiliary equipment and utilities repair in case of fault/ breakdown
    • Follow proper shift and information handover as per process

    Maintenance

    • To assist with maintenance activities on all mechanical equipment and installation.
    • To ensure that mechanical spares are available and ready for use when required or as directed.
    • To provide assistance with standardisation, recommendation of changes in maintenance policies, fault finding and problem solving.
    • Recommend spares requirements to the Mechanical Engineer/ Team Leader/ relevant Day Mechanical Technician
    • Perform Planned Inspection (SAP or otherwise directed) routines.
    • Raise work requests for defects or requirements

    What are we looking for? 

    • Minimum of a N4 and trade test (Fitter) an N6 or a National Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience on high-speed production equipment advantageous.
    • Qualified Mechanical Turner advantageous.
    • Prior high-speed production machine maintenance or operating experience, especially on Diaper machines will be advantageous. PC Literate

    Mechanical Technician - Day Shift

    About The Role

    • The role of the Mechanical Technician is to provide timeous maintenance support daily to operations, ensuring optimal equipment availability. Driving optimal asset performance safely.

    What will you be doing?

    Safety

    • Comply with all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) rules and regulations always. (e.g.10 critical safety rules and three obligations)
    • Ensure safety job cards are completed by target date.

    Quality

    • Attend to defective equipment

    Eliminate rework.

    • Daily Review and signature of plant check lists.
    • SAP notification completion. PM process compliance.

    Housekeeping:

    • Maintain world class levels of housekeeping according to the 5’s housekeeping standards
    • Maintain Equipment care

    Productivity

    • Corrects equipment non-conformances.
    • Responsible to execute statutory and KCC equipment maintenance standards.
    • Maintains a wide range of mechanical equipment such as Pumps hydraulics, pneumatics.
    • Works with multi-disciplinary teams, engineering, operations and process, to improve over-all asset performance.
    • Perform rotating equipment lubrication.

    What are we looking for?

    • Trade Tested Mechanical with N3 or equivalent tertiary qualification. (Red Seal)
    • Minimum of 2 years post trade test experience in a Manufacturing or FMCG environment.
    • Knowledge of pulp & paper will be an added advantage
    • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
    • Technical and Process knowledge of the Pulp & Paper environment.
    • An incumbent that can work standby on a rotational basis
    • An incumbent with a Mill wide engineering fault find skills.
    • Logical problem-solving skills
    • Good verbal and written communication skills
    • An incumbent that can work independently.
    • Safety awareness
