    Artisan - Diesel Mechanic (S2)

    The Role

    • Provides technical support in mechanical maintenance. Maintains and improves machines and equipment to increase or maintain a high level of reliability, availability, cost efficiency and performance.

    Key Performance Areas

    • Mechanical maintenance operations.
    • Preventive maintenance, perform corrective actions, supports planning and preparation, monitors outcome, documentation (outcome, root cause, time, improvements).
    • Work in accordance with standard operating procedures.
    • Achievement of maintenance targets.
    • Follow quality and cleanliness standards.
    • Communication of operational status and any deviations.
    • Safety and housekeeping (5S) requirements.
    • Continuous improvements and development on a personal and operational level.

    Profile Required

    • Grade 12 / N3 Technical Qualification / Equivalent Qualification (accompanied by Proof of Apprenticeship (SETA Contract)/Proof of Institutional Training /Off the Job Modules
    • Section 13 Trade Certificate
    • Basic Computer literacy
    • English proficiency
    • Relevant mining experience (5 years)
    • Relevant mechanised mining experience (5 years)
    • Underground/surface mining environment
    • Maintenance of earthmoving equipment in mining/construction environment

    Office Administrator

    Purpose of the role:

    • To organize and manage the administrative duties of the Northern Cape Kathu office in close collaboration with the functions and departments at Sandvik in Johannesburg. The Sandvik Kathu office channels a large amount of information from the mines in the area to the Johannesburg office, and visa-versa. This position will provide a professional service to our customers in terms of communication, execution of urgent matters and ensuring that the correct information is kept. The person in this position will be required to play a key role in ensuring that the time utilisation of the whole team is of the highest standard and include the coordination of the Passport 360 requirements of the different mines in the area

    The job responsibilities:

    • Answering of the office phones.
    • Overseeing the Sandvik office email address.
    • Making appointments for site visits, or assisting visitors to the NC with creation of suitable itineraries and arrangements
    • Uploading of service purchase orders on Syspro and ensuring job completion documentation is shared with the Sandvik head office finance department for invoicing.
    • Assisting with Quotes for ad hoc work, ensuring good record is kept of the of job completion to facilitate invoicing.
    • Ensuring medicals, and other mandatory training for the team remains up to date for the mines in the area with timeous scheduling of annual training and medical cycles.
    • Responsible for the organized running of the office and timeous ordering of printer cartridges, paper and stationery.
    • Ensuring a clean environment for visitors, directing the cleaning personnel when required.
    • Arrange vehicle services and ensure record keeping of the vehicle expenses.
    • Ensuring vehicle site access inspections are scheduled and records are kept for the different worksites.
    • Keeping notice boards up to date.
    • Passport 360 Coordination:
    • Daily review of statuses
    • Timeous communication of all required immediate or future actions.
    • Maintenance and upkeep of all the compulsory company documentation (i.e., registration documents, tax clearances etc.)
    • Assisting the service technicians with typing and document uploads when needed.
    • All other administrative functions that might arise from the Kathu office activities in the Northern Cape
    • Responsible for personal safety
    • Responsible for safe work environment by contributing to the safety of the office environment

    Qualifications & Experience Requirements

    • Grade 12 Certificate
    • Tertiary qualification in office administration will be advantageous
    • +5 years' experience in Office Administration

    Other Requirements & Competencies

    • A practical understanding of the mining operations and knowledge of the different mines in the Northern Cape
    • Listening and logic interpretation of information.
    • Very well organized with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

    Foreman

    Purpose of the role:

    • To effectively supervise screening media operators during the manufacturing of screening media (Injection Moulding and Polyurethane Open Cast products) and related components to complete and meet production deadlines. To monitor progress in line with machine schedules, production orders and resource requirements to meet all company cost, quality and output requirements.

    The job responsibilities:

    • Polyurethane / Rubber Injection Moulding and Polyurethane Open Cast
    • Responsible to assist the production manager to Co-ordinate and manage daily and ongoing screening media manufacturing.
    • To be actively involved with production schedules, machine loading and output to complete and meet production deadlines.
    • Ensure that all materials are available for jobs that are currently on the floor and planning material for new jobs.
    • Responsible to perform quality checks
    • Responsible to perform quality checks on screening media products and other related parts.
    • Provide clear instructions to team members towards deadline dates and allowable hours necessary to meet completion deadlines.
    • To participate in making management decisions affecting the work output.
    • To ensure best maintenance practices are followed on screening media equipment and machinery and report any unsafe or faulty equipment to production manager.
    • To coach and guide operators on job procedures.
    • Communicate effectively with your production manager.
    • To assist the production manager on all day-to-day activities, resolving of staff problems, to keep employees motivated and working efficiently.
    • Maintain discipline in the working area to avoid non-professional activities to be carried in and around the workplace.
    • To provide a positive “can do” approach to management, whilst leading the teams by example.
    • Ensure that working area is clean and neat and free of safety hazards.
    • Ensure all staff abides by H&S requirements including the use of appropriate PPE where and when required.
    • Ensuring workers follow safe work practices.
    • Enforcing health and safety regulations.
    • Correcting unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
    • Conduct continues risk assessments to ensure a safe workshop environment.
    • Ensuring that only authorized, adequately trained operators operate the equipment.
    • Responsible to operate within the health and safety requirements as prescribed by the Company and OHSAct.

    Qualifications & Experience Requirements

    • Grade 12 certificate, N3 Mechanical or equivalent.
    • Qualification from Plastics SA Academy would be beneficial.
    • Supervisory or other relevant Training/courses.
    • Minimum 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in a similar field or similar.
    • Substantial experience within injection moulding and polyurethane moulding industry.
