    Mailroom Clerk

    Duties

    • The Mailroom Clerk receives, dispatches, sorts, and distributes mail from multiple sources.
    •  These include but are not limited to local and international mail, diplomatic pouch material, and commercial courier services.
    •  The incumbent spends a large percentage of the time serving customers at the Mailroom service window.
    • The incumbent is supervised by the Mailroom Supervisor/Mailroom Team Lead with overall supervision by a designated Information Programs Center employee.

    Qualifications and Evaluations
    Requirements:
    EXPERIENCE:  

    • One year of experience in customer care, office assistance, or clerical work is required.

    Education Requirements:

    • Successful completion of high school (matric) is required.

    Evaluations:
    LANGUAGE:  

    • Good working knowledge English - Reading/Writing/Speaking is required.  (This will be tested).
    • Good Working knowledge of a second host country language also required.

    Electrical Technician

    Duties

    • The incumbent reports to the Facility Manager through the Facilities Supervisor in the Facility Management office.
    • The position holder is employed as an Electrical Technician to accomplish skilled maintenance and repair work at the journeyman electrician level, to International Building Code standards, throughout all facilities on the New Consulate Compound (NCC) to include office buildings, grounds, out buildings, ancillary structures, and residential owned/leased properties.

    Qualifications and Evaluations
    Requirements:
    EXPERIENCE: 

    • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience journey-level experience in the repair and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems, power generation and electrical distribution systems, grounding, and control circuitry.  This should include a minimum of two (2) years work experience on similar sized equipment configurations and systems with an increased level of complex work requirements.
    •  Use and implementation of International Building Code (IBC) standards, building, electrical, mechanical, and fire and life safety codes in the execution of projects.


    JOB KNOWLEDGE:  

    • The incumbent must know how to install circuits and electrical apparatuses, diagnose electrical problems in circuitry, make repairs that meet or exceed the standards of the IBC, and what constitutes proper preventive maintenance.
    • Must know how to use diagnostic equipment and be able to analyze readings to determine what and where the electrical problem is located.
    • Must know how to use safety equipment when working near energized equipment and parts.
    • Must know how to read and interpret construction and as-built drawings, schematics, manufacturers shop drawings, and performance curve charts and graphs.
    • Must have a thorough knowledge of ohms law and how to apply its formulas to circuit analysis.
    • Must have a very good technical understanding of major building electrical systems, switchgear, panelboards, lighting and power outlets, equipment, and control wiring.
    • Knowledge of reading technical documents, interpreting maintenance plans and technical literature is required and highly emphasized. General computer literacy is required in multiple applications (MS Office).

    Education Requirements:
    MANDATORY:

    • Completion of secondary school is required.
    • Completion of vocational training program from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level technicians with specialization in the Electrical field is required. 
    • The Incumbent  will have completed courses of study covering the principles of AC and DC circuitry, power distribution, control wiring, circuit ampacity and safe wiring practices for office and residential buildings, use of diagnostic equipment and electrical meters, and commercial wiring standards including power generation and distribution.

    Evaluations:
    LANGUAGE:  

    • English level III (Good working knowledge) Written/Speaking/Reading is required. (This may be tested)
    • One official South African language (in addition to English) level III (Good knowledge) Written/Speaking/Reading is required.  (This may be tested)


    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    The incumbent shall have superior skills and abilities in the following areas:

    • Diagnosing and repairing electrical power generating and distribution systems, lighting and power branch circuit systems and components, and taking equipment readings with various meters.
    • Skilled and comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and specialty tools to determine appropriate repairs. 
    • Able to use tools of the trade in order to install, troubleshoot and repair building electrical systems, and work with the mechanical technicians when repairs or replacement of control circuits, wiring, and associated devices needs to be performed. 
    • Have substantial skill in comprehending engineering reports, specifications, and related materials in English. 
    • Have an analytical mind to take cause and affect problems and diagnose the root cause creating the deficiency in the operating system or equipment. 
    • Additional abilities include responding to emergency situations in an efficient and timely manner to effect immediate repairs; work in various adverse conditions such as tight or enclosed spaces, heights, and temperature extremes, indoors or outdoors to complete work assignments; communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, contractors and vendors, the supervising engineer, the FM, and upper management  providing pertinent information and technical jargon and translating it into laymen terminology. 
    • A driver’s license is required. 
    • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to handle a large workload and multiple tasks. 
    • Must be organized.

    Warehouse Worker (Truck Driver)

    Duties

    • This standard job description is for a Warehouse Worker (Truck Driver) who is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a U.S. Government-owned or leased trucks, large cargo vehicles or other vehicles.
    •  The incumbent is also responsible for safe handling, transporting and storage of both expendable and non-expendable items.  
    • The position is in the General Services Office and under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager.  
    • This position is characterized as providing support to medium size posts with no Property Supervisor.


    Qualifications and Evaluations
    Requirements:

    • EXPERIENCE:  A minimum of two (2) years of professional truck or heavy vehicle driving experience is required.  In addition to one (1) year of experience in manual labor or warehouse work is required.

    Education Requirements:

    • LANGUAGE:  English (Limited knowledge) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required.  (This will be tested).  Good Working knowledge of a second host country language also required.

    Warehouse Driver

    Duties

    • Position serves as a warehouseman and driver in support of consulate operation. Responsible for the storage, maintenance, and delivery of consulate property. Serves as a back-up motor pool driver to transport passengers and/or cargo. Operates delivery truck, forklift, and passenger vehicle in a safe, efficient manner. Supervised by the General Services Assistant, with day-to-day guidance from the Warehouse Floor Manager.

    Warehouse Worker

    Duties

    • This standard job description is for a Warehouse Worker who is responsible for safe handling, moving and storage, and inventory of both expendable and non-expendable items.  The position is in the General Services Office and under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager.  The job holder performs loading and unloading of both expendable and non-expendable including but not limited to furniture, appliances, etc., from trucks/vans to the warehouse(s).

    Administrative Assistant

    Duties

    • This position serves as the Administrative Assistant to the Engineering Services Center (ESC), a field operation of the Office of Security Technology, Bureau of Diplomatic Security. The incumbent provides administrative and logistical support to one Officer-in-Charge (OIC), one Regional Director of Security Engineering (RDSE), two Security Engineering Officers (SEO), two Regional Computer Security Officers (RCSO), two Security Technicians (STS), three Navy Seabees, one Logistician, and four Regional Security Technicians (RST).     Mail Room Supervisor

    Duties

    • Under the supervision of the Information Programs Center, manages all unclassified pouch and diplomatic mail operations at the mailroom, directly supervising and rating the Mailroom Team Lead and indirectly supervising four (4) Mail Clerks who support all mailroom functions.
    • Serves as primary local liaison with airport authorities, and mail handling contractors.
    • Sorts and distributes mail, processes incoming diplomatic pouches, and prepares diplomatic pouches for dispatch.
    • Responsible for transportation, safeguarding, receipt and delivery of all incoming and outgoing local and unclassified diplomatic pouches.
    • Maintains all required paperwork.
    • Ensures all security standards are met for proper storage and handling of DPM registered, certified and pouch material.
    • Provides guidance to all offices authorized to use pouch services.
    • Tracks and is accountable for all funds issued to the mailroom.
    • Ensures all BPA contracts are kept up-to-date and tracks and updates the mailroom Franking machines required for official postage.


    Qualifications and Evaluations
    Requirements:

    • EXPERIENCE:  Minimum of two (2) years in external or internal customer service where tasks included, problem solving and mail handling or other related clerical experience, plus one year of supervisory or team lead experience are required.

    Education Requirements:

    • Mandatory: Successful completion of secondary school.

    Evaluations:

    • LANGUAGE:  English (fluent) is required.  (This may be tested)
