    First Veterinary Nurse (Outpatients) - Onderstepoort Veterinary Animal Hospital(24868)

    Responsibilities

    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Clinic management (hygiene, stock control, care of equipment, safety measures etc.);
    • Supervising personnel;

    Specialist: Researcher Data and Analytics - Directorate of Comprehensive Online Education Services(24879)

    Responsibilities

    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Data-analytics
    • Undertake strategic research projects relating to various facets of fully-online programmes;
    • Perform studies on student enrolment and admissions, as well as student success in terms of retention, throughput and graduation rates;
    • Develop predictive statistical models for decision-making purposes, and inform decision-making through reports and presentations; and
    • Develop models for enrolment planning and forecasting with cognisance of the ‘size and shape’ of the University.

    Financial management:

    • Develop subsidy models and provide data analytics for return on investment;
    • Compile and manage various budgets and financial reports; and
    • Oversee operational procurement, acquisitions and supplies processes.

    Statistical support:

    • Provide quantitative research support to academic and professional staff, as well as selected postgraduate students.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Hons degree in Statistics, or related quantitative discipline;
    • Three years’ experience in quantitative research, preferably at a higher education institution;
    • Advanced statistical analysis and consultation; and
    • Experience in the use of analytical software.

    Responsibilities

    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • The optimal functioning of the front desk by being organised, professional, friendly and efficient in attending to clients; staff; students and the general public;
    • Performing patient assessment by evaluating patients to determine the urgency of their need for medical assistance, and re-evaluating patients who wait for any length of time;
    • Advising clients professionally by telephone and face to face, through the utilisation of veterinary nursing knowledge and training;
    • Providing knowledgeable professional advice concerning the care and treatment of animals including questions regarding hospital services, fees, patient (animal) care and treatment in accordance with hospital policies;
    • Selling pet foods over the counter. Exercise a technical knowledge of products sold and give advice;
    • Performing all cashier functions accurately and ensure that financial policy is correctly adhered to;
    • Evaluating applications from students interested in working after-hours shifts at the front desk;
    • Training of after-hours personnel to ensure that they are able work efficiently on UVIS and also handle emotional/difficult clients appropriately;

    Public Relations and Events Manager - Department of Institutional of Advancement(24874)

    Responsibilities

    • The incumbent will contribute to the promotion of the reputation of the University of Pretoria by enhancing the universities’ image and distinctive identity to external stakeholders through various academic, research and community engagement projects and programs, as well as key cultural and sports events, staff expertise and student achievements.

    The Incumbent Will Be Responsible For

    • Reviewing and editing written content to ensure messaging in accordance with the communication strategy and UP2025 vision;
    • Work with the content hub editor and team, publications team, marketing and brand specialist and internal communication manager to ensure effective flow of information;
    • Set up and facilitate monthly news meetings with faculty marketers and other support services departments to identify potential story ideas for media engagement as well as UP platforms where possible;
    • Oversee team to source and negotiate with vendors and suppliers;
    • Manage the team in terms of deliverables and objectives per event;
    • Manage and oversee executive hosted events at the University;
    • Provide events team with strategic guidance and ensure where possible that events align to University strategy;

    • Assist with media reports regarding positive and negative reporting and input into reasoning behind specific media exposure.

    Minimum Requirements

    • An Honours degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Journalism related discipline;

    Five years’ relevant experience in the following:

    • Media/Public relations experience in a corporate or university environment;
    • Experience as media practitioner or journalist, which includes deep knowledge of the media landscape;
    • Operational planning and facilitation;
    • Facilitation of media liaison;
    • Building media relations and networks;
    • PR Agency experience;
    • Project management;
    • Registered with Public Relations Institute of South Africa (PRISA); and
    • Valid driver’s license.
