    Metrology Full Vehicle Analysis Technician X2 (PA 1177, 1209) - Kariega

    Job Description and Responsibilities    

    • Conduct Dimensional analysis of Quality related concerns to determine root cause using dimensional measurement tools within the scope of QA Metrology.
    • Dimensional Measurement and analysis with use of optical/virtual technology.
    • Assess and identify dimensional discrepancies in part condition according to drawing / CAD and provide timeous analysis results to support production activities. Drive product improvement activities in cooperation with Part Engineers and Project Purchasing.
    • Measurement of various parts in support of Full vehicle investigation activities.
    • Planning of vehicle project/new equipment related activities.
    • Conduct dimensional approval of vehicle components to ensure the successful release of components at the correct quality levels at relevant PEP milestones.

    Education and Experience    

    • Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineering Degree or Diploma.
    • 3 years’ experience in Optical measurement experience 
    • 3 years proven Root cause analysis/technical problem solving capability.
    • 2 years working knowledge of CAD software 

    Skills, Attributes & Other requirements    
    ESSENTIAL:

    Project Management Experience.

    • Proven complexity management skills – eg Management of multiple projects at the same time and also analysis of complex problems, multiple layers of analysis
    • Advanced Microsoft computer literacy – eg. Excel, Power BI, Power Point.
    • Must be able to interpret technical drawings
    • Sound understanding of the vehicle manufacturing process (Press Shop, Body Shop, Assembly, Purchase parts manufacturing)

    PREFERRED:

    • Optical Measurement systems (PC-DMis, GOM, Polyworks).
    • Offline and teach programming experience of Robotic and CMM facilities advantageous
    • Virtual reality software experience advantageous.
    • CAD software (Catia software)

    Quality Engineer (PA 1202) - Kariega

    Job Description and Responsibilities    

    • Evaluating and prioritizing in-plant part quality problems on Local and CKD parts.
    • Conducting tests on parts with quality problems to identify the root cause of the problem.
    • Producing written reports, highlighting quality problem and root cause to the local supplier or CKD supplier
    • Determining acceptable standards for quality related problems and evaluate / approve alternative proposals.
    • Evaluating and rating the Delivery Quality Performance of suppliers.
    • Establishing and maintaining a sound communication channel with the local suppliers and CKD concerning part performances.
    • Assisting with safety related investigations on single parts.
    • Designing and building test equipment to test the performance of parts.
    • Conducting test to confirm whether the new part submitted as First Samples meets specification requirements
    • Conducting a 2-Day Production Run at the supplier.
    • Evaluating the supplier's First Sample Report submission on a monthly basis.
    • Answering queries concerning material and test specifications and specify or approve alternatives.
    • Actively participate in the quality activities for new part introduction and give input to the qualifying program for new parts with respect to the quality requirements.
    • Co-ordinate the securing of the Production Line in the event of line stoppages caused by part problems.
    • Conducting Part Group Meetings for planning of corrective action on seriously problematic parts in order to determine and find suitable alternatives to maintain production.
    • Verify and approve deviations and Engineering Change notes raised by other departments.
    • Actively resolve top part problems as reported at the Quality Drive team meeting.
    • Actively participate in or conduct a Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) for parts and processes.
    • Assist Body Shop, Engine Plant, Final Assembly and Pilot Hall with complex investigations on single parts.
    • Specify a rework method or procedure for parts being reworked

    Education and Experience    

    • Must have a Degree/ND Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification
    • Must have Trade test preferably Tool Maker
    • Minimum 3 -5 years’ relevant work experience in the manufacturing environment

    Skills, Attributes & Other requirements    
    ESSENTIAL:

    • In-depth knowledge of applicable motor vehicle parts, their function, applicable specifications, part manufacturing processes and testing methods.
    • Knowledge and application of Quality Tools. e.g. DOE, SPC FMEA, 8D Pro 
    • Must be computer literate (BeOn, Hyper KVS,  & Microsoft office) 
    • Ability to communicate at all levels.

    QA Laboratory Engineer (Polymers) (PA 1189) - Kariega

    • As part of the Volkswagen Quality Assurance team, the successful candidate will take up the role of a Quality Assurance Laboratory Engineer in the Polymer, Rubber and Textile fields to ensure that testing, analysis and investigation of all plastic, rubber and textile components used in the manufacture of our vehicles, conform to Konzern specifications and standards.

    Job Description and Responsibilities    

    • Testing and evaluating plastic components to establish conformance to specification requirements.
    • Evaluate and approve all material characteristics of polymer components for First Sample approvals and advise on optimizations when required.
    • Analyzing failures and establishing root causes of component material failures from all stages of the vehicle manufacturing process.
    • Analyzing and establishing root cause of component material failures from vehicles in the Field. 
    • Advise on all matters regarding polymer material selection, specifications and testing and test methods, In-Plant, at Suppliers and also at third party test laboratories.
    • Drawing up of Works Instructions and Process Instructions, where applicable, ie testing procedures

    Education and Experience    

    • BSc Degree or ND in the field of Polymer Technology
    • 2 years’ experience and knowledge of Motor Vehicle Plastic component testing and Injection Moulding processes. 
    • 2 years working experience in a materials testing laboratory.

    Skills, Attributes & Other requirements    
    ESSTENTIAL:

     

    • Have knowledge of spectrophotometry and capable of interpreting obtained results.
    • Have experience in testing the physical properties of polymers (impact testing, flexural – and tensile strength testing), also Analysis testing (FTIR, DSC, GC and density)
    • Have proven analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Have good report writing and presentation skills.
    • Be computer literate in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
    • Have the ability to work independently without supervision.
    • Knowledge of German language would be advantageous.
    • Be able to work under pressure

    Commodity Strategy Leader - General Purchasing (PA 1183) - Kariega

    Job Description and Responsibilities    

    • Create and develop strategies to plan, control, organize and motivate the activities of staff working in the General Purchasing area to purchase goods and services in the most efficient manner to achieve set objectives and in accordance with VWSA requirements.   
    • Create and develop sourcing strategies for General Purchasing by aligning within the cross-divisional team prices and terms, service delivery and quality whilst maintaining regulatory and quality standards
    • Engage with other CSL’s to achieve cross-commodity optimizations in all areas (cost, strategies, suppliers, presentations, …)
    • Assume responsibility for large value projects assist buyers with technical work where necessary and monitor and evaluate all commercial, specification, legal and delivery aspects of such work to avoid consequences of financial/contractual errors
    • Establish business plans through action timelines, which will ensure achievement of objectives (MBO) and take corrective action where necessary
    • Assisting the Line Manager to organize and control the work process by developing objectives and the subsequent measurement, evaluation and correction of the work performed to achieve set objectives.
    • Provide support and train buyers by using existing training material with the sourcing process, supplier negotiations, project implementation, whilst always considering BBBEE and AITF requirements and general struggling points in order to support the achievement of the objectives.
    • Applying  financial, accounting and economic knowledge to evaluate pricing and achieve savings through benchmarking;  Global Competitive sourcing;  Supplier negotiations
    • Prevent potential line stoppages by providing specialist know how in assisting buyers with immediate and remedial actions to secure production.
    • Prepare departmental reports by recording all required statistical data to track progress against key objectives and identify corrective measures where necessary.
    • Action or assist buyers with negotiations/arbitration with suppliers and/or internal departments where there are disputes or failures to comply with required standards
    • Preparation of High Level presentations, for Global, Internal and external use
    • Analyse large volume of data and find synergies to improve savings and better management of low value orders

    Education and Experience    

    • A Degree/National Diploma in the following disciplines – Purchasing, Logistics, Commerce, IT, Finance or  Business Management
    • Significant knowledge of Purchasing policies, procedures and legal requirements in respect of the General Purchasing
    • Minimum 5 years of Purchasing experience in the automotive or related industry
    • General Purchasing (non-production buying) experience would be beneficial
