    Systems Analyst I

    Introduction

    Understand and translate business requirements into quality system solutions and ensure optimal system performance and stability through support and continuous improvement of Woolies Foods Applications.

    Job description

    Analyse current systems solutions and business requirements

    • Interpret and provide input to translate complex business requirements into business requirement definitions and specifications
    • Analyse and evaluate required system enhancements
    • Analyse existing systems and interfaces for modification / improvement purposes
    • Design new or enhanced systems to accommodate business needs
    • Participate in the process design or re-design and translate business / user requirements / processes into a system design

    Design system enhancements

    • Change systems specifications based on testing problems / changing requirements
    • Design interfaces with other systems
    • Provide input to deployment plans based on designs

    Testing of proposed solutions

    • Develop system test plans for system and integration testing
    • Perform systems testing and integration testing, and feedback results
    • Participate in the implementation of new solutions to ensure successful integration into current environment
    • Manage the creation and hand-over of the system administration procedures
    • Participate in the post-implementation reviews for completed projects
    • Ensure SME input during the implementation process

    Support current solutions

    • Resolve user queries
    • Ensure the stability of the existing systems environment
    • Provide input to programming support teams
    • Provide functional leadership and guidance

    Collaborate with and support ITS and the Business

    • Integrate with relevant business and IT stakeholders

    Create and maintain documentation

    • Develop and maintain all relevant SDLC documentation
    • Document, publish and maintain system design (new system developments and enhancements) and all interfaces with other systems

    Minimum requirements

    • 3 year IT Diploma OR Equivalent
    • 5 years Oracle programming experience
    • 3 years Unix experience
    • 3 years of Retail Knowledge
    • 3 Years Experience in Oracle Applications, Blue Yonder Applications, and ECS Applications.
    • Exposure to cloud solutions
    • Oracle, Azure, AWS, and GCP skill/knowledge
    • SDLC and Agile Methodology experience
    • Project management methodology
    • General understanding of internet technologies
    • Experience in relational database design

    ADDITIONAL CRITERIA

    • Retail experience advantageous
    • Understanding of database and a database language

    Beauty Buyer

    Introduction

    To deliver profitable and sustainable growth through a clear Branded Beauty strategy for the department/s that is under-pinned by the group strategy. To enable key stakeholder relationships in order to deliver balanced branded ranges through a customer led process that meets and exceeds customer expectations within the agreed KPI’s.

    Job description

    Customer

    • Integrate customer understanding through effective market segmentation and apply appropriately within agreed brand guidelines and product tiering matrix.
    • Ensure the availability of relevant product across departments for the customer.

    Post Season Analysis

    • Conduct post-season analysis by class/sub-class (including key performance indicators, Competition shop, SWOT, Pareto and Quadrant analysis) as input in the development of the Group strategy and departmental operating plan.

    Departmental Operational Plan to meet customer needs and group KPIs.

    • Provide input into the development of the 1-year operating plan with an end-to-end business view in mind.
    • Develop product mix plan at department level taking into account:
    • Customer segmentations
    • Local and global trends
    • Competitive analysis ensuring Woolworths difference is achieved.
    • Manage supplier and customer relevant brands.
    • Identify a balanced range structure, price tiering and key price points.  

    In Season Trading in accordance to strategic KPIs

    • Conduct weekly and monthly performance analysis and develop detailed action plan to ensure departmental KPI’s are met and exceeded. 
    • Identify opportunities within the season to maximise profit and grow market share.
    • Analyse and manage cost of catalogue within product and store formats.  

    Supplier/Brand Management

    • Manage supplier/brand strategy to deliver Group KPI’s
    • Improve margin through effective negotiations.
    • Negotiate marketing and service support for Brands at all locations/channels.
    • Onboard and Exit Brands within required timelines.

    Stakeholder Management

    • Conduct regular store visits to understand product performance, assortment balance and customer experience of the range and adjust where appropriate.
    • Influence and drive marketing, selling, sales and space requirements. 

    People Management

    • Develop and motivate the Buyers Assistants
    • Inspire the team to achieve and deliver the departmental operational plan and meet/exceed KPI’s.

    Minimum requirements

    • Relevant retail/ business qualifications
    • 3 - 5 years buying experience essential
    • Previous Beauty buying experience preferred.
    • Creativity, taste and flair: ensure that ranges are balanced and offer real choice to our customers.

    • Negotiation and influencing skills.
    • Merchant and retail ability: demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the market place, competitors and customer needs

    Analyst Programmer I

    Introduction

    Responsible for analysis of user requirements, technical design, development, maintenance and support of Woolworths FBH Applications.

    Job description

    Analysis, technical design and development aligned to team processes & requirements

    • Design, develop technical specifications from systems specifications; implementing.
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and understand the needs and impact on FBH applications.
    • Conduct thorough testing and debugging of FBH applications to ensure high-quality deliverables.
    • Design and code programmes of greater complexity and size from technical specifications.
    • Adhere to release management and DEVOPS methodology

    Maintain and support existing systems

    • Interpret complex user requirements and translate into systems design.
    • Investigate and solve complex systems issues.
    • Ensure systems documentation is kept up to date.
    • Perform after hours standby

    Ensures effective operations

    • Maintain and enhance existing FBH applications, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
    • Plan, organise and control own work effort, including regular progress feedback to own and other relevant areas
    • Monitor performance and troubleshoot issues in collaboration with the support team to ensure efficient operations of all FBH applications.

    Provide effective people management

    • Assist in managing work effort  of Analyst Programmers II and III, and give input into the IPM process  

    Minimum requirements

    • 3 year IT Diploma or Equivalent
    • Proficient in programming languages: Oracle PL SQL, Unix scripting and Oracle APEX
    • Knowledge of Retail business processes and understanding of industry specific challenges in an Fashion, Beauty or Home environment
    • 8 Years Experience in Blue Yonder Applications, especially JDA MP, ASSORT, and  ALLOCATIONS.
    • Familiarity with cloud-based technologies and platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for scalable and resilient software solutions
    • Working knowledge of SDLC and Agile Methodology
    • Design Thinking approach to problem solving
    • Knowledge of Woolworths IT landscape, including systemic understanding of key business processes
    • Mentor and coach junior analysts and developers
    • Demonstrates a results-oriented mindset in planning and implementing activities/projects
    • Monitors and tracks progress to ensure delivery of all planned commitments, and keeps the appropriate people informed
