    Postharvest Agricultural Research Technician - Fruit Industry - Nelspruit

    Job purpose: 

    • Ensure technical packhouse, trial and cultivar data is captured, actions are performed, and reporting is done on a weekly, monthly, or yearly basis as specified.

    Key Accountability Areas

    Postharvest Trials:

    • Assist in day-to-day research.
    • Evaluate fruit for trial purposes.
    • Travel between packhouses for evaluations and technical support

     Qualification and Experience

    • Minimum Diploma in Agriculture
    • 2 years in the citrus Industry with experience in basic technical trouble shooting
    • Some experience with nurseries and/or farming.
    • Some experience with irrigation and scouting

    Farm Manager - Wild - Middleburg

    EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION:

    • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, as well as the following will count in the candidate's favour:
    • Relevant post-secondary qualification.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The successful candidate will be partly responsible for administrative functions in the Lucerne department.

    Responsibilities will include tasks such as:

    Contracts:

    • Capturing and submitting purchase and sales contracts on the system
    • Perform cost calculation on transactions
    • Check that contracts are signed
    • Drafting manual contracts

    Billing:

    • Invoicing and storing necessary documents
    • Email/post invoice to customer
    • Make transfers to other marketers
    • Making out credit notes
    • Create and send out pro forma invoices

    Loading of external invoices:

    • Prepare accounts payable invoices for payment (POC)
    • Load storage invoices and other supplier invoices
    • Load transport invoices

    Miscellaneous:

    • Closing of contracts at the end of Feb. and Sept.
    • 6 Months reconciliations
    • Handle minor enquiries/complaints as soon as possible
    • New debtors and creditors collection of necessary paperwork

    Inventory:

    • Complete request for inventory adjustments where necessary

    Logistics admin

    • Generate loading contracts
    • Update of loads on the dashboard
    • Booking of trucks at suppliers and clients
    • Generate claims/losses on loads as necessary
    • Receiving and capturing of proof of deliveries

    System & Planning Manager - Fruit Industry - Burgersfort

    Job purpose:

    • Overseeing of packhouse systems, data analysis and information dissemination in the company.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS

    Systems

    • Maintaining and Evaluating of Packsys base files.
    • Insert and update marketing plan as and when required.
    • Assist with System problems – scanners, computers etc.
    • Reconcile system & floor stock.
    • Adding & Editing Packing Instruction for Packhouse. Do daily/hourly order progress and adjust packing instruction according to orders.
    • Liase with Marketing teams if deviations occurs from expected marketing plan.
    • Oversee employees setting up Run drop Setup of labels in control room. Ensure correct labels and Target market are setup per drop. Ensure run drop setups are checked for each drop and communication protocols are being followed for label changes.
    • Auditing of all pallet & bin stock. Do weekly spot checks on bin & pallet stock.

    Operations

    • Ensure start-up, operation and shutdown procedures are followed, and related records are completed.
    • Manage staff within department that includes maintaining discipline, resource efficient utilisation, employment of staff.
    • Ensure the efficient and effective operation in area of responsibility.
    • Ensure that manual packing instruction is ready before start of shift and on run exchanges.
    • Making sure that all Special labels printed correspond with the packing instruction according to target market.
    • Overseeing the selection, training, and performance of staff.

    Finance

    • Assist with all production related reports – packouts, dispatches, daily run financial analysis.
    • Assist finance to frequently evaluate if all BOM recipes are captured and formulated correctly in Packsys. Inform Finance team of new BOM(s) to be built in Packsys and assist to compile setup documentation for finance to capture in Packsys.
    • Assist finance team to compile producer income projections per variety. Compile preliminary packout projections on harvest estimates. Pre-harvest, 1st Packout, MidSeason & Final. Have weekly catch-up meetings with Finance Team to ensure producer original projections are still in line (packouts, quality, volumes, target market allocations, etc).
    • Assist finance team to reconcile producer payments – production vs packaging fees vs amount paid out. Compliance
    • Always wear PPE as provided and ensure that all safety measures and protocols are followed, wherever machine is operated including safe stacking and speed limits.
    • Ensure that the area of responsibility is clean and that all hygiene rules are followed.
    • Safety first- Ensure safety protocols are always followed. Be very vigilant for safety hazards and report immediately to management.
    • Workplace Discipline – ensure reporting for duty on time and abiding by the company’s HR policies.

    Communication and Reporting

    • Ensure good communication on all level to ensure effective and efficient operations.
    • Ensure effective and accurate record keeping of all related operations within area of responsibility.
    • Communicating with the control room regarding the labels setup on printers if there is any faults on labels.
    • Report any problems or possible defects that can cause down time or damage immediately to management.
    • Control Data Base on Volume Forecast and sent weekly packout projections.
    • Prepare daily financial run analysis and sent to producers daily.
    • Attend to queries of producers.
    • Ensure packouts are finalised daily and sent out to Producers.
    • Ensure communication plan is followed within stipulated timeframes.

    General and Off season

    • Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by Management.
    • Off season tasks and responsibilities may vary from the above.
    • Responsible for the day-to-day activities in the area per shift.
    • Always ensure to handle equipment & goods in a safe and responsible manner to avoid damages/losses for the company.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Grade 12 with Relevant Qualification
    • Minimum of 4 years relevant Experience
    • Previous relevant experience in Citrus/Agriculture will be an advantage.
